Director of Communications in the Office of the MMD President Muhabi Lungu has slammed Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba for threatening to withhold Rupiah Banda’s monthly pension.
Mr. Kabimba was quoted in the local media threatening thats government will have no choice but to stop releasing Mr. Banda’s monthly pension if he continues involving himself in politics.
Mr. Kabimba’s warning stemmed from Mr. Banda’s international lawyer Robert Amsterdam’s continued defence of Mr. Banda in the media from perceived political attacks on his client.

But Mr. Lungu said the Justice Minister is being childish by threatening Mr. Banda over his pension which he rightly worked for.
“This is the kind of politics that we surely should be moving away from as a nation. It is petty and childish for a learned Counsel to be making such threats when he fully knows that Mr. Banda voluntarily retired from politics and he deserves to get his pension because he worked for it,” Mr. Lungu stated.
He said it is unfair for Mr. Kabimba to expect Mr. Banda or his lawyers not to defend him when he is constantly being attacked and ridiculed by some sections of the media.
“Does the Justice Minister expect Mr. Banda’s friends or indeed his lawyers to keep quiet when he is being maligned every day in the newspapers? I think the Justice Minister needs to show maturity on this matter. He is being childish, this reminds me of those kinds of people Kenneth Kaunda would call “scared little men in suits.”
Mr. Lungu urged all well-meaning Zambians to denounce the kind of politics that Mr. Kabimba is playing for the interest of the nation.
“Hon Kabimba is playing the kind of politics we call mob rule, he expects everybody to agree with his reasoning even if it does not meet the basic standards of fairness and soundness.”
The joke that the PF govt is proving itself to be is becoming hard to distinguish from April Fool’s day itself.Ba PF do you govern thru laws or thru unlawful threats?

Why can’t Muhabi Lungu imitate his humble and royal Dad the Deputy Speaker Hon. Mukondo Lungu MP. Young man honour your father as commandment does not only target your Dad, even when elders are wrong speak with or about them with respect, not stubborn pomposity. What Mr. Kabimba stated was not personal statement but national wish. Mr. Banda abused power, lacked humility, and is still too proud. Presidential pensions are actually abuse of resources in comparison to other pensioneers, it is given on silver plata, and should be received with humility, because other pensioneers deserve better as well. Mr. Banda should keep quiet and just enjoy his pension without raising dust, otherwise I would support its forfeiture the way he is going about his case, without meekly allowing law to rule.

With or without case in court, Banda is entitled to his pension. Do not bring in jungle rule you PF dictators. What Lungu is saying is correct. That is being childish.
The fact is that RB has to exonerate himself in the court of law. Let his defense lawyers go to court to defend him and not ranting politics in the media.

Petty and childish Kabimba is impregnated with vile of hatred in his entire being outlook. Its impossible for anyone to hold in honour whatever kabimba says or has ever said. He thrives on the back of Sata and his rejection by the Kola Lubemba Foundation to inherit Sata’s position is not surprising. That seem to invoke hatred targeting anyone in opposition and those who against him. What Kabimba should be mindful are his cases of curruption swept under the carpet by PF govt and Sata. When Sata will be long gone Kabimba will have to account for raping the national resources with his oil corruption deals. That day will certainly come.

There has to be a change in law regarding presidential retirement. It has to be that only presidents that serve two full terms, die in office or don’t seek re-election after first term must be entitled to full benefits as they will be considered retired.
Those seeking re-election & are defeated don’t qualify as retired and should only be entitled to some benefits like housing, security, office.
Giving a defeated incumbent president full retirement benefits is equivalent to rewarding a fired employee with all benefits including pension.
Fine, if we want to keep the existing presidential retirement law in its current state, especially on defeated president, then lets extend the same to all employees.
Once a president, you are guaranteed full benefits regardless of mode of exit
I hope this “awaiting of moderation” will not take the whole day as has been the case the past few days.

Mohabi Lungu in 2006 spent all his energy in defeding the opposition unip because they wanted KK to contest. This time all the energy goes to RB and NEVERS.

@ 2pm i was watching znbc program dabbed plight of a prisoner. A former convict looked smart and he had a word of encouragement for people not to go on the othe r side of the law. Sad that when people steal they always want to defend themselves.

Addressing a public rally at Freedom Park in Mwinilunga, President Banda accused Hichilema of having likened him to a dog last week.
“I said I am not worried. I am like a father to him, so if I am a dog, then he is a puppy. He is a son of a dog,” President Banda said.
“Can you imagine if Hichilema became president, we will all be called dogs. If he wants to become president, there are better ways of doing that than insulting others,” President Banda said. “If I am a dog, he is a dog’s son.”
Last week in Mongu, Hichilema said if the MMD continued to go along the line of hooliganism, President Banda would be chased like a dog in 2011.

Muhabi is spot on. It appears that some people do not believe in the Rule of Law but in jungle justice where one is presumed guilty instead of being presumed innocent. Even the charges against RB taken to Parliament do not allege that he stole any money. Kabimba can not expect RB to remain mute when there is a daily campaign to malign him.

If he does the the appropriate laws of the land swill be applied. The kind of hatred that the so called patriotic front has brought is indeed very retrogressive. apart from the fact that these guys have no clue of the ingredients of developing the economy they are just riding on the misfortune of the MMD that lost the elections in 2011.
