President Sata has described UPND leader as an Economic Saboteur. The President said Zambia’s robust infrastructure growth, economic recovery and general improvement in people’s livelihoods has placed the UPND leader in perpetual resentment and anger.

However UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema said the problem with the President was he hates any person who reminds him that he is President of this country. He said that it was unfortunate that President Sata was now scheming to arrest him for inciting miners when the truth was bare for everyone to see and ready. The opposition leader said that he was ready to face President Sata for standing up for the truth and speaking on the behalf of the poor majority who were facing hard times under the government of the PF.

Below is the Press release from statehouse and the Daily Nation interview with HH

LUSAKA, Wednesday, September 18, 2013 – His Excellency, Mr Michael Chilufya Sata, President of the Republic of Zambia, has said UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema is too preoccupied with elections to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

President Sata said the UPND leader’s claims of Government failure and intimidation are nothing but his trademark irresponsible and unpatriotic utterances.

“In all intent and purpose, he sounds and acts more like an economic saboteur than somebody who is providing checks and balances,” President Sata said.

“No doubt, the bright prospect of a better Zambia on the horizon, which is emboldened by robust infrastructure growth, economic recovery and general improvement in people’s livelihoods, has caged him in perpetual resentment and anger.”

The Head of State added: “Its time he faced reality and started talking about development and other unprecedented progressive reforms happening. Let him realise that his ‘failed promises’ hymn has passed its shelf-line.”

I’m not Scared of Sat’s threats-HH

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema says that he was not worried over threats by President Sata who has accused him of fanning or creating confusion on the Copperbelt by holding meetings in the area.
He said it was important for the people of Zambia to ask President Sata why his party was losing elections instead of the President threatening Hichilema over baseless accusations.
Hichilema wondered why President Sata was worried with his (Hichilema) meetings if the opposition in the country was weak as he claimed.
“The problems with President Sata are that he has personal hatred for me and any person who reminds him that he is President of this country, he sees nothing good from me even when we raise issues of great importance for the development of this country, he sees nothing and the time we do that he wants to take that as an opportunity to disgrace the opposition and insult us as if we are kids. We are not going to accept to be bullied the way he was doing things in the PF,” said Hichilema.
He said that it was unfortunate that President Sata was now scheming to arrest him for inciting miners when the truth was bare for everyone to see and ready.
The opposition leader said that he was ready to face President Sata for standing for the truth and speaking on the behalf of the poor majority who were facing hard times under the government of the PF.
Hichilema said that the UPND was not a violent party compared to the PF and the sharp reactions he was receiving from State House was in a bid to silence and cower him, a situation he said was just one of those schemes aimed at intimidating Zambians.
He said that he will not stop talking about the ills of the PF, the corruption, tribalism and nepotism being exhibited by t he leadership because he was a concerned Zambian who always wanted the best for the country.
Hichilema said that the opposition was now more resolute to liberate the people from serious dictatorship the country was quickly sliding into under the PF.
“The President himself should take responsibility to address various issues the miners, marketers, and poor Zambians are raising. He should not be quick to start making those warnings, why are the PF so scared, why can’t they learn to promote democracy just like other have done before this government?
We know all the tactics President Sata wants to put forward, we shall not be surprised if we hear that we have been stopped to hold meetings actually the PF has never allowed us to hold meetings with our people, we have to also warn them that they should respect the laws and observe the human rights and freedoms the people of Zambia enjoy.
They are campaigning, we know that. Kabimba is going round the country campaigning for himself, what is wrong with the opposition campaigning? We are not scared of them. Let them come and arrest me for holding meetings,” said Hichilema.

  1. who is living well please all zambian journalist go round all compounds in lusaka you see urself how pipo are suffering,it is waste now.

    • Sata comes all the way from the dictatorship of UNIP and has the same mentality as his UNIP colleagues, who became MMD and now PF. Wake up, all these so called politicians have been painted with the same brush, same stigma and same sense of selfishness and lunacy. The only way out is a tsunami to come and deep clean this once promising country. That Tsunami is on its way, not even Sata’s rhetoric will stop it from reclaiming the country and placing it back into the hands of the rightful owners…the Zambian people.

    • People like Nubian princess surprise me, to think that Sata can actually shut his mouth and bring development you have to be an idiot!!!

    • His “Excellency” Micheal Chilufya Sata from State house says that the massive development is improving people’s lives. Why is he trying to dissolve parliament in the wake of good economic performance? Surely which people’s lives are improved? is it the Salary pecks for civil servants?

  2. Sata sometimes lacks reasoning, to day he tells his cabinet that we are being hammered left right and centre by HH, tomorrow he says the opposition is weak. How can it be weak if you are feeling the heat? HH continue hammering them paka bazitundile. Why don’t they want to allow you to address bashi mine on the copperbelt? What are they scared of?

    • @Luputa – dont forget Sata is a seasoned politician – he had to ruffle HH a bit to force HH to respond so that he can hammer him again. Unfortunately HH could not read between the lines so he was forced to respond.

While I agree with HH and support him to continue hammering the PF (because we need that as Zambians – holding the govt to account), Sata has got a point. The PF have done quiet a lot of positive things for this Country and they deserve some praise. Problems remain – but that is just the nature of life. You solve some others emerge.

Keep improving ba PF. Now that you have tested your each other’s patience through this endorsement saga – it is time to go back to work. Looking forward to parliament openning tomorrow.

    • Strange you say under MMD’s 20 year rule, wasn’t Sata part of the same MMD, infact he comes all the way from the dictatorship of UNIP. Wake up, all these so called politicians have been painted with the same brush, same stigma and same sense of selfishness and lunacy. The only way out is a tsunami to come and deep clean this once promising country. • It is a pity when we allow kindergartens to comment. Ask yourself where your president was from 1991-2001. Who was the distributor of brown enveelopes? Who was the choir master for theThird term debate? Who was behind the hacking of fellow zambians in Chawama? The same lunatic you want to claim is developing my country? The same lunatic who is scared to face the Zambians by way of press conference. Please give us a break and eat silently with your dictator.

    • Dada! I take it you use this pseudonym coz it’s the only word you can spell correctly. I have been trying very hard to find out what kind of person you are behind the computer and all I can come up with is that you are an illiterate spam spewing program created by some Chinese parrot hired by the ruining party to sing it’s praises, create mythical ‘development’ stories and defend the indefensible. If you are by some miracle human then you must be stuck in a padded room at Chainama with I.V.’s constantly loading you with several illegal drugs. You, my friend , are a waste of oxygen and space.

    • Blind Zambians every visitor to Zambia has praised the PF Govt.Even IMF and World Bank are in support of this Govt. shame on us who can’t see the Infracture development.Cheers mr President only the enemy of the State can deny the fact our country is on the road to economic recovery.

It is getting hot and hot for PF and its leader MS. they will not manage to stop the momentum for hh. together with the zambian people we shall open the doors of state house wide open in 2016. no matter what they do, things will not change for hh; they arrest you this time around we the people of copperbelt will match with you into those prison cells because then they will be arresting our conscious. the president and his holsters the post newspaper will not manage.

  6. We love you HH, but i need to know how you came up with all that wealth, people want to know and get inspired by you. Clear the air mr HH

  7. Why can’t the president just answer and challenge HH about the so called petty issues he raises. I don’t even know how petty these issues are cause if they were so petty, the president could do better by just ignoring insteard of attacking HH. Otherwise let the president answer and we will see who is being petty after analysing the issues raised and the answers given. Problem is the president just goes on to call HH or sorts of names and threatening him with state machinary.

    • Soby how I wish the debate among presidential candidates was mandatory like we see among US presidential aspirants! We would have answers to many questions and also know the line of direction each candidate would take the country. How can I slip the debate clause in the constitution?

  8. pipo should understand economic construction is not creating jobs coz they are temperal,a project have a fixed period which normally creates casual jobs and freigner countries benefits moreover are funded by world bank.Zambia should invest heavily into agriculture our economic will be very strong.we are blessed with big rivers that means our agri policy will be all year round employement rate would fall.

    • You are very wrong sir go back to school.UNITED KINGDOM GENERATES BILLIONS ID POUNDS FROM INFRASTRUCTURE LIKE UNIVERSITIES ,STADIUMS,ROADS

  9. We have the most use less and dull president in Michael Sata… Why should this man continue responding back to HH when he can not face the media to answer various questions concerning Zambia? This old man has managed to avoid an interview in Zambia because of fear of being reminded of his campaign promises. This dull president shouldn’t think that Zambians are dull like him… Zambians have realised that it was regrettable to have gambled when they voted for him..

The country is suffering peacefully and patiently waiting for the nearest opportunity to vote him out..

    • The President of the republic of Zambia is not dull That is why people voted for him because he is a Man of action. What promises are you talking about. will you please answer by outlining the promises so that we can also know.
Meanwhile note that 1. Many roads are being constructed. 2. Universities are being built. 3. Districts towns are being structured. 5 Zambia Railways being rehabilitated. 6. Stadia being put up 7. developing agriculture. 8 etc.

    • @Chambishi. Yes you are right. The Prez is not dull that is why (you) people voted for him.

You see. He is a man of action. In 90 days we are all happy. In 90 days he has built Roads, schools, hospitals, universities etc. In fact in 90 days he even has finished a Hospital in Lusaka (Mwanawasa) and stadium In Ndola.

Of Course in 90days he planned and has finished urban roads in Lusaka and other towns. ….

In Short Sir, talk is cheap. Launching is not building.

    • He is not but us who are not even leading a small team.He is the right man here I the Western world we are seeing positive results.Zambia is heading in the right direction viva PF

  10. Ati….”economic recovery and general improvement in people’s livelihoods” What nosense is this??? May be in his village people’s livihoods have improved. Here in Lusaka; a bag of cement is now at K85, M/MEAL 75…honestly, Come on Mr President, tell us your plan.. HH is not a factor we hear so,,no need to respond to him kaili…………..

    • US$ RB – 3.8K; SATA – 5.5K (worst Xrate in past 15 years!), M/meal: RB – 38K; Sata – 75K (people are starving), Diesel RB – 4.9k; SATA – 10K. Are you now better off? More hardship to come>>>>>>>

  11. Why is the president talking about HH always, balemukusha umutwe hechi hechi.. Why cant he talk about development, unemployment, minimum wage which is still unimplemented by many… fertilizer, Syria, Baroste, Egypt, Child education, Health etc and etc cause the people want to hear what the govt is doing to better their lives noti lyonse HHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. sata is hh number 1 fan,the man talks hh
    eats hh
    dreams hh
    thinks hh
everything about this man is hh.
the man is scaredof hh period.

  13. The president talks too much when he feels better. He will soon disappear when his condition worsens. Too bad that his sickness is affecting his brain.
    HH will rule one day.

  14. What or who is an economic Sabbotuwa, kanshi? Presido is confusing me on what he is saying HH does, compared to the term used in the heading – as usual, discord in thinking and speech by our HE. Wiide kubwa!

  15. So I think HH will go to Commonwealth and report! Childish! Ur time will come baba if at all it will! Ulimbe!!!!!! By the way HH, where is ur prophat Chanda Chimba III? Is this what he has prophesise to u? HH; Hakaivotela Heka, Hahaha Hahaha, Hehehe Hehehe, Habola Habola, Haleisa Haleise… Yaba my breath is gone with this H mwe first nweko amenshi, I’ll b bak!

  16. It’s George Chellah’s responsibility to advise the president before he publishes such rubbish.Chellah’s failure will be seenas a spill over to Sata

  17. Why is Sata so obsessed with HH? HH wouldn’t even be in the media if the Sata didn’t lumpenize about HH all the time. HH is doing what every opposition leader does leave him alone.

  18. Even if Sata ws part of mmd the end result is he ws nnot final decider. Now he is & doing relatively far beter. His admnistration is tackling key issues which were buried previously.Keep track Sata with yr Ministers.

    • Key issues like what? The only thing your dictator mentor has developed is poverty, prices of basic commodities, hunger, HIV death rate (no ARVs), infant mortality (no BCGs) and vikopo like you!!!

    • @Dada. Don’t run away. I challenged you on your earlier blog. Sill waiting for your answer.

Sata is doing well in tackling real issues? Tell me which issues? Corruption is higher, hospital more filthier and no medicines, city garbage in higher piles, mealie meal and fuel prices higher, oppression of human rights and violence increased, maize harvest going down, confusion in agri-policies, the exchange rates getting weird, no direction in his party.

      Tell me which issues?

    • Thanks @HS Speed Black Mama.

In Fact Dada should look for the nearest tall tree with a rope in his hand. And please make the knot tighter.

  19. Whatt is the price of cement, mealie meal, sugar, cooking oil, bus fare, school fee, medicine, rand, euro, $, chicken, fish, beer, rent, bread, soap, salt, beans, impwa, finkubala, dry fish compared to pre September 2011? How many of our compatriots other than PF cadres have seen a doubling of savings in bank account, reduced taxes (individuals and corporates)? What is our nations debt today and what has it been used for? Why havent RB’s formula one roads been completed despite Euro bond and increased taxatio? Please answer……ba Sata kanabesa tuleipusha.

  20. This president does not inspire confidence in the Zambian people.Leaders are supposed to motivate, inspire their followers instead Sata irritates.Maybe his 2nd wife Dr.Kaseba should have been president in his place.

  21. Now this ailing tribalist is really behaving like he’s in opposition. Too much talking about HH. You should be ashamed of yourself old man. Rubbish u

  22. lests join Dada in supporting the president, his ministers are not doing enough to
defend him from HH, they are playing it safe just in case?

  23. Quotation from Sata’s press statement: Let him realise that his ‘failed promises’ hymn has passed its shelf-line.”Ba Sata Mwebafyashi what do you mean here? Is it HH ‘s or your promises of a better Zambia, more jobs, more money in your pockets and no corruption that has passed its shelf line.HH never promised us anything but told us the truth that voting for you and PF is jumping from a frying pan into fire. And this is what is happening now,we are in fire anything that we say we are arrested.Only members of your party are the true Zambians who can do whatever they want, march to state house without permit, police just look at them.Nothing is done to your party members but the opposition parties they are being denied permits to demonstrate, hold rallies and the worst of it all they arrested…

  24. Economic sabotour ,this fits hh. He has been on that path from the time pf came to power. Even if Sata and Scott were in mmd at dat time dat doesn’t .Wat matters is wat they are doing now that they re in the driving sit. We can see them .Go,go pf!

  25. The usual hogwash from the so called state house.
“…robust infrastructure growth, economic recovery and general improvement in people’s livelihood…” This useless spindoctor can be likened to a kindergarten kid when it comes to playing with words. What robust infrastructure growth? If Zambians want to know the real meaning of that term they should travel to places like Dubai or even to Gaborone in Botswana. Economic recovery? With all that unemployment and high inflation and one claims that there is economic recovery. It is absurd. Improvement in people’s livelihood. State house must just have woken up from a very deep sleep. To date council workers in a number of municipalities have not yet been paid, poverty is visible everywhere, so what is this foolish bragging based on?

  26. When HH was in the pact where was his attitude? Did he think Sata would be his kitchen boy? Bad judgement, poor politics, he will never rule Zambia

  27. This issue of speaking in the third person should come to and end. I doubt if MCS understands the meaning of the word “Saboteur” let alone pronounce it. At this rate, he will be responding to every Jim and Jack if he does not exercise restraint.

  28. Bane it’s the power of numbers that matter most the majority will always prevail.Lean from the Western World.Personally PF is very strong on the ground
