Chief Government spokesperson, Joseph Katema has said that President Michael Sata is not fatigued and is focused on ensuring that promises made to the Zambian people are delivered.

In a media statement release this afternoon in response to calls by National Restoration Party (NAREP) leader, Elias Chipimo’s for early elections because President Michael Sata was going through terrible hardships and is fatigued and stressed with the burden of running a country with huge economic, political and social challenges, Dr Katema said that the President’s has the resolve to deliver on his mandate.

“President Sata is not fatigued, he is focused on ensuring the promises he made to the Zambian people are achieved and no amount of detraction from the likes of Mr Chipimo or any other political leader will change the President’s resolve.

“To answer Mr Chipimo on early elections, there will be no early elections and since he prides himself of being young, he should just wait for 2016,” he said.

STATEMENT BY HON. DR. JOSEPH KATEMA, MP, MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING SERVICES ON CALLS FOR EARLY ELECTIONS BY NAREP PRESIDENT ELIAS CHIPIMO Jr

Government is concerned at the growing number of outlandish and unsubstantiated statements coming from opposition party leaders.

While it is true that we are a democracy and people are free to express themselves, we feel this freedom of speech should carry substance when coming from leaders. The recent veiled attacks on His Excellency President Michael Chilufya Sata by NAREP president Elias Chipimo Jr, at best smack of a phobia for senior citizens.

It cannot be disputed that Mr Chipimo has in the past issued very sincere and constructive statements, but it looks like he has run out of ideas and now believes his biggest asset is age.

According to Mr Chipimo, President Sata should call for early elections because he is going through terrible hardships and is fatigued and stressed with the burden of running the country. What Mr Chipimo forgot to announce to the media he was addressing is when he graduated from medical school and when he was engaged to ascertain the President’s or anybody’s health.

Mr Chipimo and his fellow opposition leaders should know that as leaders the words that come out of their mouths have a direct reflection on their characters and if they engage in character assassination as their prime mover of their agendas, the electorates they seek votes from will further be alienated from them.

To answer Mr Chipimo: there will be no early elections and since he prides himself of being young, he should just wait for 2016.

President Sata is not fatigued. President Sata is focused on ensuring the promises he made to the Zambian people are achieved and no amount of detraction from the likes of Mr Chipimo or any other political leader will change the President’s resolve.

People are seeing change; not just in infrastructure development, but also in the mature manner this country is being run.

Hon. Dr. Joseph Katema, MP
MINISTER OF INFORMATION AND BROADCASTING SERVICES AND CHIEF GOVERNMENT SPOKESPERSON.

  1. We know those tricks f00lish Katema. Both former Ghanian and Nigerian presidents died while the their spokes people were saying they are fit. The former Ghanian president was even made to dance at the airport on his arrival from treatment in the USA. Two days later he was dead.

Some of us with much experience know exactly what your are saying and understand that it is actually the opposite which is true. Sata is fatigued and may not make it to 2016 is your correct statement in reverse.

Waiting to hear your lies when Sata finally kicks a bucket.

    • why is this PF government spokesman always reacting to information from opposition party??? even Sakeni died because of reacting all the time,,,,,,,, does it mean he and his clones cant pro-act??

    • YOUR SG WINTER KABIMBA HAS BEWITCHED SATA.IT IS POINTLESS TO DEFEND WHAT IS OPEN TO THE EYE OF THE PIPO.THE MAN HAS BEEN HARMMED IN THE SPIRIT AND THE EFFECTS ARE SEEN IN THE PHYSICAL.THATS WHY I DON T CONDERMN SATA ANTMORE.SATA WAS SO VIBRANT 2 YRS AGO.WHY IS THAT HE HAS TURNED TO BE LIKE THIS IF IT IS NOT KABIMBA TO BLEM?

    • Hnnmmnm? @Ndobo, how dare to blame Sakeni’s death came from stress? Sakeni was bewitched, by PF’s #3. We went ku ng’anga in Luapula where he came from, in Chief Mwansakombe.

  2. Yaba these foools are taking us for granted, ati “people are seeing change in the mature manner this country is being run” honestly why are these cockroaches shaving it in our faces.

  3. hahahahahahaha……….. ba katema, your constituency in chingola is wallowing in ‘drum’ holes on the roads and you are no where to be seen. you are running your constituency by what method? remote or by sate4llite like your boss running the country by satellite via face book. advise the president correctly imwe bakonto, he is looking very unwell whenever he appears on camera. let him retire on medical grounds. it is normal

    • It’s not just your boss that’s Fatigued, even you Katema are. You both are moving coffins.

Why is he crying foul about age now when his been the fellow that’s being referring to others as under 5 all the time? No chance baba….

  4. The only thing that has improved is that Katema is an educated fol and his statements are readable not those from George Chella and that ifyabukaya villager.

  5. Out of the 13 million, Sata was the best. What a country a bankrupt country. You mean all these universities could not produce a suitable candidate. Shame on zed. Sata can not even pass medical. State house has become a HOSPICE.

  6. Katema also looks unwell. Sata looks ashen . Kaseba is always smiling about it…creepy. It is a sickly government! Immaturity is the hallmark of this government. Two more rain seasons and they are out together with their clans in government institutions.

  7. Joseph Katema, No one expects you to say the truth and you dare not because you would be fired and manhandled by your party thugs. The people are concerned because there is no sound leadership to move the country forward as the president is incapacitated by poor health. How else do you explain his falling asleep clad in military uniforms at a parade?

  8. “People are seeing change; not just in infrastructure development, but also in the mature manner this country is being run”.

Operative word here is ‘mature manner’, which mr. sata is incapable of. Heads of state avoid him like the plague and he is mature?! Dr. Katema, please don’t kiss the president’s ass.

  9. ….so what has been the hindrance to go the constitution way…..constitute a team of doctors as per constitution requirement so that we rest this issue once and for all…who knows it may even vindicate the Katemas and the likes….
Just yesterday, the same song was being sang day in day out towards LPM (MHSRIP)…and to so many other heads of states who are no longer with us…..
Tho it is a Gods will, who knows, had Mandela clung to power he may never have clocked the 95….
…95 is the magic number, KK is slowly crawling towards that number, RB seem to be doing the same just as we would like MCS to do the same as well…..
Between health and power …I chose health

    • The hinderance is we do not need a constitution because we are in a hurrry to develop. We do not have resources to waste.

  10. Mr Katema we know Sata is trying to deliver to the people of Zambia. He has delivered more misery and there is more drama to come too. Yes Chipimo is young and can wait until 2016, but what will be left of Zambia then? Zambians should instead beware of leaders like you sir.

  11. Even the pope can resign due to ill health,, this is African, Kabimba is preparing some provinces for Elections, just get ready lads. time is imminent. Sata is unfortunately fading.

  12. Seeing comments from the above mentioned sadists such as matipa, I down whether I can vote for their preferred candidate. How can a sensible voter vote for Wnzelu, matipa, ndobo’s candidate. Their foul language and their insults towards the elders? For how long have people said Sata is sick but he is still going strong? Even if he died, you candidate will Kiss the dust. But God who knows everyone’s life will keep him as HE sees befitting. Surely ever since Sata came to power, he has never done anything good? You are such jerks. I am not PF but the more you insult him, the more I like him and will vote for him. Good to church and let the pastor pray for you for the bitterness you have for an innocent leader. Everyone knows that you are hypocritics, haters and dull.

    • if you say “Sata is a the best president zambia has ever had“…. good for you! and if i say “Sata is worst president zambia has ever had“ its NOT an insult, its called difference in opinion, dichead! get used to it, critism and opposition will always be there in politics

  13. There is nothing wrong with being fatigued, it happens to every one at some point some more than others depending on what the situation is in ones life! Sir, you dont have to explain or defend anything for this shows that he infact may be fatigued and if that be the case…. what’s the fuss all about? shocking that you have to stretch your self so far for something that is normal…. It means that the body is screaming hard trying to communicate or sending a signal, in short…. the body is calling 911 incase you didnt know. Why do people take insults on real normal issues? So damn weird!

    • there is everything wrong with being fatigued if one is leader,,,, just like a pilot,,,,,one may cause a crash

  14. guys lets talk constructive things and not costantly wish our president ill health. sata is on track and god will lengthen his days beyond 2016. yo comments injure the feelings of evry well meaning zambian.

    • How do you think those who loved Levy felt then when someone was busy attacking him? Leave with it dude

  15. That sounds very familiar! When will Zambians learn that you can not wrestle with health matters; last time someone was jogging in London… look what happened after that!

  16. Kings are never respected in their own kingdom, so goes the saying. I remember what was said about KK, FTJ, LPM, RBB; all same difference. Even Sata will only be appreciated when he is no more. They all will want to go to the funeral and talk praises for the man, just like they did for the late leaders. Human life is so short lived, even the minds and thinking of people is so short lived, poor memories, full of perfect impefections. Whoever shall lead Zambia will not run away from negativity of opposing citizens. Unless one will be like Kim of North Korea who can execute his own uncle because he opposed him, any leader that will come to lead Zambia will get mud smeared heavily. Meanwhile, let the one who won elections lead. Chances for another annointed is coming, many are wasting time.

    • The politic proverbial 90 days, interpretation has so many meanings. The concept has taken a long time to be understood, haha.

  17. My king, inkosi yama nkosi is ridig a Toyota Noah from beforward and there is chief riding a limo. Where is justice.

  18. To Satas handlers namely Mmembe, Scott, Kabimba, Chikwanda and Young Chella. What will it take for you to realise that your man at plot one is not okay to handle the affairs of the state? What do you want him to do? To start undressing in public? How come you are not seeing the boobs he is making? How can a whole head of state say a party wanted to hijack him and you think it is okay not to address an issue like that? How many more blunders should he make before you will say enough is enough? I think the proposal by some opposition parties that early election be held should be considered by your team. If you love Zambia do something about our country otherwise you will never be forgiven for taking Zambia to the brink. Do something good for once!

  19. Sometimes thinking out of the box can mean wrong things altogether. For instance, NAREP President Chipimo’ s suggestion for a neutral president is quite bizzar! Thinking can go wrong. He has defeated himself at thought and ended with a totally wrong answer to his question or problem! Some arguments are more convincing than others. Chipimo got it very wrong, indeed.

  20. I cant insult ba sata on account of his age, 2. I passed through his hands when i was in party politics but that statement he made in southern province revealed a lot about himself & state house. children of my mother lets admit something is very wrong

  21. History, recall the attacks which where put on one of the best presidents this country has ever hard. Who was in the the leading voice to call for a medical review of my President HE Mr. Levy P M.? Check the history and then release that statement again.

  22. Pipo you mean Katema is Chief govt spokesperson???? hhehehehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehhehehehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
