Cape Verde have sent Zambia warning shots when they beat Niger today away in Niamey.
The 2013 Africa Cup debutants and quarterfinalists beat Niger 3-1 to shoot to the top of Group F ahead of Wednesday’s home game against second placed Zambia.
Goals from Garry Rodrigues, Odair Fortes and Ze Luis in the 3rd, 14, and 24th minutes respectively sealed the three points for Cape Verde.
Niger striker Moussa Maazou score the home sides consolation in the 34th minute.
Cape Verde lead Group F on 3 points, two more than Wednesdays guests Zambia who have one point tied with Mozambique whom they drew 0-0 win earlier in the day in Ndola.
Niger visit Mozambique on Wednesday.

@Umwina Zed, you’re so right. I doubt Janza’s reading of the game and understanding of his players. Our defence is so porous with Sunzu labouring all alone let alone the blunt strike force of Jacob Mulenga & Katongo upront. Introduce some of those sharp U20’s NOW, they’ve been travelling all over the continent winning games here and there and won’t have any stage fright. We need speedy wingers too. Mweene must also learn to pass the ball accurately and not just chipantepante. Am so worried about this Cape Verde outing….(butterflies in the tummy)!!!
Cape is too much for zambia. Zambia cannot beat that team whether away or at home.
we need to start building again. there are no short cuts when it comes to the national side, because we cant sign talent but train youngsters the game from an early age.
Let us all support our new coach, Janza. Don’t believe in negativity ,Janza is one of us and we can make him great. Nigeria has done it before, why not us? Believe in your own.
Yes Kapoma , we can make Janza a great coach, but only if he listens. The problem is that he reminds me of the our old man, the late Zoom Ndhlovu who had the habit of making changes too late in the game. On average, a player needs about 5 minutes to get into the rhythm of the game, so any change that’s done between the 80th and 90th minute is unlikely to be effective if it’s intended to win a match. In the last few years our weakness has been in the frontline but now we’ve become worse with the useless defence I saw yesterday.
Travel arrangements pliz….hope our team takes to the road asap cos Wednesday is around the corner. My prediction is another draw in Cape Verdi.
We may as well use the under 20 team. The Senior team will be whipped, beaten and dragged along the small Island nation. Unpatriotic you say? No, just being realistic.
with what i saw yesterday! we need a drastic change of players. why play fwayo tembo late, keep jacob who could not hold the ball even for a second. free mesge to Janza when substituting put like to like. not where u take away Katongo for Mukuka.you weakened yo team bwana. There was no hunger for goals in ysterdy team. its either the coach overworked the players afew hours before the match or we are entering a decline zone. yestersday match was shambolic.
Bring Back GEORGE LWANDAMINA AND FIGHTON SIMUKONDA…………This Janza will take us nowhere!!
Those guys have tried and failed .. Let him (Janza) continue. A good coach can do nothing without good players.
weak substitutions……we have young blood that can run and cause others to make mistakes near the 18…. where was Musakanya …….. KEEP playing the madalas and see ………in that team, only the defence needs old madalas, mid field needs young runners and front needs a combination of old and young boys
@and you. How do u condemn your own team just because they drew, people like you are not fans but supporters who cheer when all is well and hate when losing, this is soccer anything can happen so how about a little faith in your own team
@Longone, self introspection and being realistic are the only way to have a proper understanding of oneself. We’d be in great denial if we sat back thinking we are still the strong Chipolopolo that we used to be. I also watched the following games live on Supersport; 1. Nigeria Vs Congo Brazaville, 2. Segenal Vs Ivory Coast 3. South Africa Vs Sudan 4. Cameroun Vs DR Congo 5. Ghana Vs Uganda and 6. Tunisia Vs Botswana, and out of these 12 teams I could only match our standard of play to Botswana, Sudan and DR Congo – meaning that if we were to meet any of the other nine, we’d be torn apart!!! And qualifying for this tournament means facing those sides. Maybe we shouldn’t even qualify and avoid embarrassment beyond what Brazil experienced in the 2014 WC Finals.
@ One Ngwee, I thought I saw Senegal play against Egypt!
Cape Verde will whip Zambia like dogs, i tell u. Nothing to do with coach.
Our Players underrated Mozambique , you don’t play football to show off skills to the gallery, maybe you can do that when you are leading 3-0 and with little time before the end. Our players should learn and copy from the Germanys who are merciless when in opposition half. Players like Jacob needs to do more, the guy fails to trap the ball properly and only one sensible but weak shot in a game, and then you call yourself a striker? Shame!. These players have built their
Cape Verde is a young progressive well managed unit far capable of walloping overrated mismanaged Zambia convincingly home and away….Zambia has been going down since the won AFCON 2012 by luck….that should have been the turning point for them to invest winings in the grassroots and facilities but alias they “invested” wininings in paying themselves via allowances.
Zambia you do not deserve to win anything if you have not invested a single ngwee….sort out your corrupt FAZ.
Wake up from your docility and passivity!!
You can’t win a major tournament by “luck”. You might get lucky by being placed in an easy group, but once you progress, you have to play & beat the best teams on the continent. Zambia would have beaten Mozambique if they had maintained the same lineup that beat Sudan in a friendly, with one or two additions (Sinkala & Sunzu). The rest are just fake professionals.
Am worried about this coach janza. Which high profile team did he play for ? He should inspire his charges to win , they (players) should be fit tactically , physically & mentally. Otherwise we are coming back with a bashing.
We lack strikers who are aggressive & hungry for goals in the eighteen. Sometimes watching chipoloplo play can just raise your blood pressure. They guys didn’t look disappointed with the draw.
You are right Molego how can one smile with a draw against Mozambique as if they had drawn against Germany . This is disappointing im worried .
I said it and saying it again!1) Kalusha Bwalya messed up the coaching issue, had we searched for a proper coach when HR left ,things could have been different.
2.) We are not ready for a local coach, look at HJ.He couldn’t think of new
tactics.Mozambique’s strategy was simple, pack the bus,hit Zambia on the counter.
Watching Chipolopolo play against the Mambas,My conclusion is that Zambia will not qualify for the Morocco 2015 AFCON.
My Predictions
Cape Verde 4 Zambia 0
Mozambique 2 Niger 0
Niger 1 Zambia 1
Mozambique 1 Cape Verde 1
Zambia 2 Niger 1
Niger 2 Mozambique 2
Mozambique 3 Zambia 0
Zambia 1 Cape Verde 2
Then fire Kalusha,HJ,get an experienced expatriate coach.
We are stuck with the corrupt Galu and his colleagues I’m afraid the minute you push him he will run to his corrupt masters in Caf and Zurich…that’s the reason we will never go anywhere until FIFA offer him a job in Zurich
Your prediction is quite close
Mine are:
Cape Verde 1 Zambia 0
Mozambique 2 Niger 0
Niger 1 Zambia 1
Mozambique 0 Cape Verde 1
Zambia 2 Niger 1
Niger 2 Mozambique 2
Mozambique 1 Zambia 0
Zambia 1 Cape Verde 2
Your prediction is quite close
The coach lacks tactical discipline,u can not encourage your boys to play aerial boys when u know ur opponent are taller than you.
.. there is need for tall defenders like Mordon Malitoli. hence intermarriaged should be encouranged. Now what they can do is play down ball and avoid making corners.
For me really the backline was fine. What we need to change is the midfield and striking. Pa mid the only players to remain are Nathan and Chris the rest (including Kalaba) should be on bench. Striking we need Collins to start with Mayuka. Young blood such as Bruce and Mukuka should be priority in my view cz they play an attacking mid type of game. I feel like we have good players enough to get us to qualify but technical decisions may cost us. Will remain positive
I HAVE FAITH IN U BA CHIPOLOPOLO GUY PLZ DNT LET US DOWN AGAIN THIS TYM AROUND…JST STAY FOCUS AND STRONG MENTALITY GUYS..WE’V GOT A HAVE TALENTED TEAM.. BA CAPE VERDE KUWAYAWAYA FYE..
Chipolopolo boys are behind you.go head and win this time around no matter how far u are going be strong cape verde eeeeee they can but not this team we have !! Go go go forward and safe journey.
Problem we ve as supporters is that,we seem not be serious wen making. Comments these people have the skill and the ability to score goals ,but back there some ar busy nokuswamo (corrupt minded people )let’s stop this thing its a bad thread. And to the coach ku pundako at times mayuka ,kalaba ,fwayo there not just zeee they think every thing is ok because the people who see mistakes are thos at the bench and not the kapuleya no bufi.let’s not underlet our own boys but to put and pump more chimwela . I love mother zambia so much bye bye every boby and wait to watch tomorows game. Chao. .
