Republican Vice president Guy Scott says President Michael Sata is not being forced by anyone in government to continue working despite widespread fears that he is unwell and that he should take a rest.

Dr. Scott siad that if President Sata has chosen to continue working despite calls that he takes a rest from his presidential duties to recuperate from his alleged illness, it is because the President knows that it is the right thing to do to continue with his work.

He has told Qfm news in an interview that people that are calling for the Head of State to rest should be mindful that politicians do not rest as they would want President Sata to.

Dr. Scott has wondered why some people in the country are insisting that President Sata takes a rest when he himself does not want to.

He has observed that some of the people calling for the Head of State to take break a from work are only pretending to be more humane people than they really are as he thinks that they allegedly want what he has termed as an easy technical knockout for them to ascend to the top.

Dr. Scott said that he however thinks that nothing can change in the Zambian politics if people who are calling for the Head of State to rest, they themselves should take a rest.

The republican vice president has also wondered what the problem is for President Sata to stay in public now when earlier people were calling for his appearing in public.

He said that he further thinks that the issue of President Sata’s well-being has been over brown by the media and by some people who want to get top jobs without going through an election.

Dr. Scott said that as far as he is concerned he is happy that the President opened Parliament on Friday yesterday and did give a brief description of the PF government’s policy and a good indication of the ruling party’s direction.

He said that he does think that there can be anyone in the opposition who can now give an after thought about President Sata opening Parliament.

    • He wants to die in power mwebantu. Balifichulile, 10 years in the opposition and then you become president. Do you think you can hand over power just like that? Ati kufwa na NO!!

    • Dr Scott is just being sarcastic by saying exactly what every brain dead PF cadre would reply to such a question. You must be really dumb to think he is conquering with the people that keep insisting Sata is fit as a fiddle. Scot is probably somewhere giggling and sipping on some wine with his wife as they watch the old foo1 kill himself trying to keep up appearances while he ponders his chances of being the next Zambian president.

    • @Katebe Katoto, walasa man, “umuchele ukufina baumfwa ku bausendele”. And “Ubulwele wishebe tabubula kuteta”.
And Sata himself is tough-son-of-man. To me he is inspiring, even though I miss to mess up with him.

  1. Oh yes it goes without saying that he is as fit as a fiddle. Only deluded people thinks he is unwell. Can a person who is unwell take a thousand miles trip to New York ? Zambians have no real issues to discuss no wonder they have made this perceived Sata illness daily meal. Get a life people !!

    • Are you worried that soon and very soon your job will be cut off? ‘Alleged illness’ ? Stupid. You cant see that this in not an allegation but simple truth?

    • Ki ki ki….And you can`t debate without using words like “stupid” ? People will never say or think the way you want them to. The earlier you accept those individual differences the better it will be for you son. Now take a chill pill and relax…you don`t have to lose your sense of balance over a difference in opinion. Bless you !!

    • @Saulosi, honestly I miss messing up with Sata. He was my friend I used to share jokes with. He used to just make feel Zambian, when he called his friends “iwe chi-colar or ulichipuba boyi or tiyoko naiwe”, he felt one of us.
But the way he is now, you can’t make a real joke, it will sound like UKUTUMFWA.
So the best to just say “heee guys, am taking a break, see you whenever you see me”.

  2. Dr. Scott, it’s not only the opposition leaders, it’s the whole mass of caring Zambians who are worried about the depreciated scarecrow they saw and heard on TV and radio. At least you have shed light on what we all know is the real problem, Sata himself. Did you say he is the one insisting he is OKAY!? And you are powerless to do anything about it?

  3. @ Mei Matungu I enjoy your debates you post to LT.
    God bless you !!
Let the Old man Finish his only term….we dont need by-elections unless he dies in office.!!!!

  4. I sometimes wonder whether it’s actually Guy Scott who is sick in the head with stuff that comes out of his mouth. If he thinks there is nothing wrong with the events that transpired with the opening of parliament then he needs to have his head examined. If the president will not listen to anyone and wants too continue working then let him but he should not expect mercy when we start criticising and putting pressure on him. People are being polite by asking him to rest otherwise he will be forced out should he carry on failing to execute his job as stipulated by our constitution. In Scotland where you come from Scott, the first minister resigned for failing to deliver a referendum. Maybe you want to make history by becoming the 1st white president in pre-colonial Africa by default?

    • Sata should watch this man closely because his agenda is more cynical than Wynter. Scott knows that there are loop holes in our outdated constitution which will make him president. Pretending that all is well and that no one can stop Sata from working only works in Scotts favour. Sata should move this man from the position of vice maybe only then will he spit out sensible things.

  5. reading the comments on the issue of the president’s health really a bad taste in mouth. its like slowly Zambian are losing a sense of humanity in the name of politics. politics does not mean to harbour hatred for anyone regardless of who they are. let us not lose a sense of being human. the president and his family are going through a hard time. the best we can is to pray for them. Let God have his way, only him knows the future of everyone. I wishing the president dead will not benefit anyone even those politician we prefer. we need to remember that whatever you wish for others may end up being your fate. Remnant

    • @ALLAN MUSONDA; What hard time is the president and his family going through? Have you ever read or heard any one of his family members or PF cadres say the president is sick. Sata is fit as a fiddle and working hard. He will also be traveling to the USA in a couple of days. He is fine. I heard his weight loss is due to cross fit his fitness trainer is subjecting him to!

    • @Allan Musonda… please stop misleading people and twisting things to suit your own hidden agendas. I don’t think I have heard anyone wishing Mr Sata dead. What people are saying is he needs to vacate that office so he can look after his own health for both his own sake and that of the country.

That office needs a person who is both physically and mentally fit to run it. It is not a Kantemba or a village where the occupant head man is nursed until they dropped dead. This is a highest office in the nation and we have no time for sympathies and prayers… his paster will do that for him.

We have a country where we have non- believers, Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, etc. They just need a fit and health president. Oops I forgot ours was health and fit.

  6. A society of gossips and doomsday proponents! First it was a ‘bag in the jacket’; next came ‘hooked on a life support machine in Israel’; then came ‘he is dead and being kept in Israel and he will not open parliament’. Now suddenly it is ‘he should rest because he is very sick’! You bunch of MFs don’t seem to have anything to do now, do you? What a political scene of losers we have!! UN-effing-BELIEVABLE! Just get your pathetic little losing parties in order, that is where work needs to be done. Leave the PF to deal with their own mess.

  7. Did i hear someone call this guy as a useless white man? Now i know. He should have been in the forefront to persuade the president to slow down in order to help his recovery. May be Sata also knows too well that no one in this gvt is good enough to look after the national affairs. Does someone recall the president calling his ministers useless. So look no further, this proves the point

    • People tend to misunderstand guy. Let me paraphrase what he is really saying: ‘we know that the president is unwell and we have tried to advise him to take a break, but who are we to to advise him if he thinks that he is fit to discharge his duties? ‘

  8. “As we have stated before, they took advantage of certain challenges, weaknesses, lapses. There are many things we can say on this score. But for the sake of Michael, we will keep quiet, we will leave things here”. Post Newspapers 31st August,2014

The simple question to the cartel is: Obviously Wynter knew the President was this weak and frail but why was he (Wynter) pretending all was well? Even the high court judge refusing to constitute a medical board is as bad and hypocritical as Wynter and Mmembe. Wynter was hinging his hopes on the fact that the President’s visit to Israel could be his last. Calumny, deceitful, evil, back stabbing, false friend – all this describes the cartel.

  9. The oldman is deadwood. ..these empty tins will not admit anything. ..the old man didn’t even mention the constitution in the speech.
MPs in the nation’s interest call for a medical review of this patient in State House. ..nevermind the Speaker. I am now beginning to think one Wynter is the only one who had the nerve to tell him to stay indoors.

  10. I have truly learnt one thing in politics that you do not call ‘a spade a spade’. Moreover, authority and power can bracket us from reality. It is really painful that the truth is unknown. What I only want is peace in my motherland. Time can teach us something and one day the truth will be revealed. My concern is that it might be too late for the majority of citizens who are experiencing the direct effects of political decisions. Yes!

  11. THE VP IS SPOT ON. THE SAME UPND CADRES WERE SAYING SATA IS IN HIDING, HE MUST COME OUT. THEN SATA COMES OUT CAMPAIGNING AND OPENING PARLIAMENT. AGAIN THEY START SAYING HE MUST GO INTO HIDDING BECAUSE HE IS ALLEGEDLY UNWELL. WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT?
THE BEST SATA AND PF MUST DO IS TO IGNORE THESE UPND CADRES AND CONCENTRATE ON SCOOPING THE 2016 GENERAL ELECTIONS JUST THE WAY THEY WON THE 4 SEATS OUT OF 6 IN THE RECENT BY ELECTIONS.

  12. Well said Mr Vice President. I entirely agree with you. Some of the opposition parties have not even held a democratic convention. They want to take over power without going through an election. If cattle could vote, they would easily win elections. Come 2016 PF will continue. Long live Presido and abashi opposition.

  13. HE IS NOT FIT, HE IS FIT. HE IS NOT FIT. HE IS FIT.HE IS NOT FIT, HE IS FIT. HE IS NOT FIT. HE IS FIT.HE IS NOT FIT, HE IS FIT. HE IS NOT FIT. HE IS FIT.HE IS NOT FIT, HE IS FIT. HE IS NOT FIT. HE IS FIT.HE IS NOT FIT, HE IS FIT. HE IS NOT FIT. HE IS FIT.HE IS NOT FIT, HE IS FIT. HE IS NOT FIT. HE IS FIT.HE IS NOT FIT, HE IS FIT. HE IS NOT FIT. HE IS FIT.HE IS NOT FIT, HE IS FIT. HE IS NOT FIT. HE IS FIT.

ITS LIKE PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT. COME 2016 THE MAN WILL WALLOP YOU PANTS DOWN THE WAY HE DID IN THE JUSTED ENDED BYE ELECTIONS.

  14. It is irresponsible for someone to be sick and work, either the people around him are irresponsible or himself is! As a Zambian citizen, let it be clear that am not of those who very, very irresponsible!

    • In his parlay opening speech, President Sata said he was going to be passing new laws. In most advanced nations, opposition MP’s would have been commenting on that and analysing. It took President Obama years and a big fight to pass his medical bill.

Clearly, he could learn from President Sata how to keep everyone looking the other way, while passing laws, by looking very ill! Keep them talking. In fact this method was used by Labour gov’t in the UK. Cover bad news with good, or the opposite and no one will suspect your radical moves!!

  15. Sikoti, why have Zambians pay to have a cow at the river (meaning Sata in plot1) if it won’t drink to produce milk for us taxpayers?

    It absolutely makes no sense.

  16. This is a clear sign of a sick and weakest opposition. A sick man 4 not sick 2. come 2016 sata’s head will be on a ballot paper. with almost all the projects complet it will be sata 86%, HH 6.4% MMD 5.8%. we shall see who is sick

  17. The problem here is having a docile citizenry… in other enlightened countries they wouldn’t allow a ghost occupying the highest office in the land… never! This has nothing to do with Sata as a person; rather the sacredness and the importance of the office he occupies. Why don’t people demonstrate for his departure?

Scott’s statements don’t make sense at all… this is the man who’s been telling us the president is health and fit (or is it fit and health?). His language today is different. Is this a coded way of him admitting his boss is a dead ghost walking.

people force him out, you put him in there… go out en masse and ask him to leave the office.

  18. Mr. VP, we the people are asking that HEMCS rests because he looks and sounds like he can collapse and die at any moment.
Either that or it is a vote of no confidence in PF. Take it how you will, but something needs to change.

    #OneZambia

  19. Dr. SCOTT is very right. Zambians if you are Christians you will agree with me Death is inevitable if God says so. Its only God who knows what will take President SATA hence wasting time with our speculations. Instead of whatever evil things we think let us pray for our. As long as the opposition thinks its the only way to ascend to power it will never happen if God says so. Actually they slim the chances because their thoughts are evil.

God bless our President SATA and Zambia

  20. HERE WE NEED TO BE CAREFUL. IT IS TRUE SATA LOOKS SICK. BUT WHAT IS THE NATURE OF HIS ILLNESSS? ALL WE HAVE ARE SPECULATIONS FROM THE WILDDOG OR IS IT WATCHDOG AND UPND CADRES. SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SPEAKING AUTHORITATIVELY TELLING US THAT SATA IS VEGETATIVE WHILE OTHERS SAID HE IS DEAD. THE SAME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INTHE FOREFRONT SAYING THE PRESIDENT IS NOT DOING ANYTHING BUT DRAWING A SALARY. THE PF HAS REMAINED MUTE. WONDER OF WONDERS, SATA APPEARS CAMPAIIGNING IN MKUSHI, SOLWEZI, OPENING PARLIAMENT AND NOW HE HAS GONE TO USA.
THESE PEOPLE ARE SPEAKING WITH FORKED TONGUES. UPND HAS SEEN THAT THEY CANNOT ENTER STATE HOUSE UNLESS SATA DIES. AND NOW THAT HE IS NOT DEAD THEY ARE NOW ON A SCATHING ATTACK TO DISCREDIT HIS HEALTH. THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME. COME 2016, SATA WILL BE ON THE BALLOT

  21. …….PAPERS. SATA WILL HAVE THE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENTS HE IS UNDERTAKING TO TALK ABOUT THEN. BUT THE OPPOSITION WILL HAVE NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT APART FROM THE POOR-HEALTH-OF-SATA STORY. THAT WILL NOT STAND. DO NOT PRETEND THAT IT IS SATAS HEALTH YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT. IT IS RATHER YOUR DWINDLING POLITICAL FORTUNES THAT YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT. AND YOU DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT A MEDICAL BOARD LOOKS FOR. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED TO FIND THAT THE MEDICAL BOARD WILL ACTUALLY DECLARE THE MAN FIT. THE MAN MADE A SPEECH AND NO ONE IS EVEN LOOKING AT IT BECAUSE THEY EXPECTED HIM TO COLLAPSE.
SATA IS ON THE ROUTE TO RECOVERY. BY 2016 HE WILL BE IN TOP FORM. AND AM NOT SAYING HE IS THE BEST PRESIDENT. ALL AM SAYING IS THAT THE OPPOSITION HAS LOST DIRECTION.
