The Patriotic Front has demanded the expulsion from Parliament of MMD Mwandi Member of Parliament Michael Kaingu for what it has termed as deflowering the dignity of Parliament by tearing President Michael Sata’s speech on the floor of the house.
PF Media and Publicity Director Chanda Mfula in a statement released to QFM News says the conduct exhibited by Mr Kaingu is excessively out of character and should result in nothing short of his expulsion from parliament.
Mr Mfula it is clear that Mr. Kaingu’s conduct falls far beneath the attributes and character expected of a representative of the people.
He says Mr. Kaingu has openly insulted the Zambian people who elected President Sata and the MPs.
He adds that his behaviour also sends a clear message that he does not have any respect for the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Mr Mfula states that Mr. Kaingu’s action is a total refusal by him to be a good role model and speaks volumes about the deficient morals and values he is able to pass down to younger people both as a father and as a top leader of the biggest opposition party in the country.
He says the PF hopes that parliament will rise to the occasion and protect the dignity and integrity of the house by expelling Mr. Kaingu as he no longer fits the Honourable position he undeservedly occupies.
Mr Mfula further states that the Mwandi Member of Parliament’s conduct has in itself made it easy for parliament to draw the line and use him as an example of the consequences of irresponsible behaviour.
He wonders whether Mr. Kaingu was frustrated with the President’s message on unity, given what he says are his well-known divisive activities in some parts of the country.

I wonder what would have become of the nation if MMD continued in power. Kaingu seems to me that he still suffers from a hang over of insulting President Sata which he and other senseless ex-Ministers enjoyed doing during the last general elections. It would be childish for the PF to demand the expulsion of the Hon. Mr. Kaingu from Parliament. Let the PF MPs just learn to sharpen their debating skills in the National Assembly. Hon. The National Assembly is an autonomous arm of the state and guarantees immunity to its members during debate time. One of the constitutional functions of the National Assembly is to provide checks and balances to the Judiciary and Executive. No one has power to expel Kaingu from parliament except those he represents in his constituency. So, at the right time (election period) do not forget to decampaign him out of office. As for now, he is at liberty to express himself and this is what democracy is all about.
