PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda and his Tanzanian counterpart Jakaya Kikwete when he arrived for a state visit in Dar-es-Salaam

President Rupiah Banda arrived in the Tanzanian capital, Dar Es Salaam yesterday for a two day official visit to that country.

President Banda, who arrived aboard a challenger plane touched down at Julius Nyerere International Airport at 12:30 hours local time .

Mr. Banda was welcomed at the Airport by his Tanzanian counterpart Jakaya Kikwete, that country’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Bernard Membe, and Minister of Infrastructure Development Shukuvu Kawambwa.

President Banda also inspected a guard of honor and was entertained to some colorful cultural dances at the airport.

A tight programme awaits President Banda, who is accompanied by Energy and Water Development Minister Kenneth Konga, Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande and Communications and Transport Minister, Dora Siliya.

  1. It is important that we remain in good relations with the countries around us. Please remember that it is not easy to be landlocked!! Good moves RB!! I salute you on this one!!:)>-

  2. 3RqU

Tawaumfwako ati ama sagging suits?? Those are the ones RB is putting on. Dont be jelouse bane.
Anyway, we already know that its Malawi next from there. Who knows? maybe even Brazil, Congo, Mexico….And while he is at it, he might as well visit the Moon!!!! 😕

  3. But how much are we going to spend on these internation trips?! Flying around itself costs a lot of money, not to mention a presidential tour. Please spare our meagre resources, and do something constructive at home.

  4. Banda should mind his weight.do these people realy appoint eatwell/fitness advisers.its imanginable to get another stroke striken presidents.

  5. Ba Moze you are probably in touch with fashion than I am.

Designer products hey! You are right. That`s why we have more shops selling designer clothes in Zambia. :d:d:d

  6. “Mr. Banda is today expected to tour the Tanzania-Zambia Mafuta Pipeline (TAZAMA) Tank Farm before touring Ministry of Finance and Economic Development port in Kurasini area.”

Is this a tour only or what by President RB Banda and his group using or misusing Zambian tax payers money?

Is his concomitant trip to Malawi from Tanzania of similar nature?

Why are other Presidents from our neighbouring countries or indded Africa not visiting President RB Banda at home Zambia? Is it that they are busy attending to their people’s needs in their countries while President RB Banda is not doing that to his Zambians?

  7. Maestro please stop this copy and paste. Please! It`s annoying we! You can present a point without needing to copy and paste. Please! :((

  8. Why has RB taken Dora to TZ ?Tandiwe watch out ……………….!that is why he is not saying something about ZAMTEL issue he knows NSHALANDE NAMWISHIBE.

  9. As a landlocked country, it is important that we develop good relationships with our neighbors.

It is also to our benefit that we develop with our neighbors, trading schemes which will benefit our and our neighbors people.

Zambia and Mozambique have already got a prudent currency agreement which will result in the rise of cross border trade between the two nations. Who knows, Zambia can continue with this cross border trade with all its neighbors and this will cushion the effects of the credit crunch. [tbc

  10. Within the few days that RB has been in office has made more trips outside this country than locally. To date, people in western province are still waiting for him.
I thought with this credit crunch the government was going to cut on travel expenses but it like RB does not know anything about global reccesion.

  12. cont. #20]

I think this is why RB is encouraging Zambians to grow more food. It is probably so we can benefit from this nation through cross border trade and also for our neighbors to benefit by servicing their food shortages through Zambia’s grain surpluses.

What is the point of being in SADC/COMESA if we cannot engage in cross border trade as Zambians and as a nation.

This is why I do not condemn these state visits Mr. RB is carrying out.

p.s I reply to all emails every saturday.

  13. RB’s next trip is the United states. A source close to RB has confirmed. A source further said that RB will have a closed door meeting with the American president ,H.E, Barack Obama to discuss trade links between Zambia and USA! Also Thandiwe will meet with the first lady of that country, so that she can update her on the latest fashion trend! Good move i guess :d

  14. Free Fimo fimo

You make it sound like we have been at war with our neighbours! thats not an excuse. Its just a waste of tax payers money. RB will end up being the most travelled Zambian Head of State in his three years as Presoident. Takwaba. We already enjoy good relations with Tanzania. What is he expecting?? A wife from there??

  15. thandiwe do watch out……………dora had it with folotiya she could do the same and please improve your dressing stop the fish tail its not for your head and advise your husband to walk like a persident and wear the right fitting suits,he looks like a catoon

  16. mmm keeing up appearances ba RB tis good, but pliz dont move with single women, remember regina.nway learn from kikwete and help zed

  17. RB, much as we know it is a tour of duty, please suspend these unnecessary International trips. Work on what we already have in our plate, with our limited resources. 😮

    Lwalinya kanshi!!!

  18. A Tonga bull returns a book to the Library. He bangs it on the table and shouts: Too many characters, no story!

The librarian looks at him at says: Sir, so it you that took the Telephone Directory!

  19. Common sense, in this economic situation, there is not need to be wasting money visiting townships around Zed. Rb is a confused head of state. o:-)o:-)o:-)o:-)o:-)o:-)o:-)

  20. I am in Tanzania; the Tanzanians themselves do not even know that Banda is in their country. what a waste of money and time…
I suggest that he goes to see those who voted for him in Western Province. And I appeal to all those useless chiefs who campaigned for Banda. Those chiefs are quiet now waiting for the next elections. Elections in Zambia is another moment of business-money making and handouts!!! Very few zambians are concerned about how the lives of the poor zambians will be under the new president…any development? noone cares about all these questions! It is shameful. Thanks to you concerned zambians; I love you for loving our nation. One Zambia One Nation!!!

  21. Tazara is deteriorating because of poor management. What are you going to do about the former managing director and head of finance? Tazara workers are not paid on time.

  22. Ba Presido should reduce on these trips, how come other heads of state never come to Zambia for such Visits. In Less than 3 months RB has been to about Ten Countries Already. He is just trying to make some money through allowances

  23. one thorny issue to another… zambia!!!!!

    just counting on change…

    i have talked too much…

let me act for the next few days…

  24. Vasco Dagama of Zambia.moving from one country to another, and there is nothing tangible in all these trips.Just wasting tax payers money.Next week tuesday he is going to Malawi.Bu president bwakweba ati you never even dreamed that you would be one ni fifine.RB was at his farm in Chipata sleeping on a lazy man,s chair.People went there to wake him up ati niwe bo vice President, before we knew it he became president. And now he wants step on all the red carpets in the world na matoloshi ya lepona no kupona.

  25. Which Head of State has ever come to Zambia since RB became President?
The only sirens escorting vehicles i have seen around are his and the one that escorted Xavier Chungu from the airport when he was arrested upon his return!! Chibi, ka? 😕

  26. #49 Mumbi

Mwana, you havent seen RBs sagging suits? Its a new trend which other Ministers will soon adopt. God forbid seeing the Veep in one!! Yangu Tata! His ADC would just be holding the Veep by the belt in the waist! 😮

  27. I think RB still has the UNIP manners of touring other countries. You see what I mean old minds, always stick to old habits. I wish they where giving them new brains in South African Hospitals where they like going 🙁

  28. 3RqU landako boyi maybe kuti baumfwa.I mean i really fail to understand the reasoning of some people.Because everyone here before commenting,we first read the story or an article.Hence no need for someone to start by saying he said bla, bla, bla.Just comment ya awe mwe.

    BREAKING NEWS

From today onwards for your own information you are now allowed to say KALEZA even in front of your boss at the office when the the going gets tough

  30. next time will be.President goes to the moon or sun.He is traveling so much that i wonder if he has his mind 100% on what Zambia needs him to do as president

  31. This mo!f!king globetrotter going around the continent on fruitless trips. So where’s he going next f!k!ng Pluto? By the way his son did import those GM products.

  32. PRESS CLIP:

Asked by the Tanzanian reporter Joe Mwaruki on what improvements he had so far achieved as President of Zambia, President Banda replied, “I dont know. But i want to take this opportunity to thank the people of Zambia for electing me as their President during last years elections”!

    Twachula! 🙁

  33. If it’s for the sake of sight seeing and adventure he should traveled by road from Ethiopia passing through Somalia to Kenya and then Tanzania

  34. #17 Maestro, It is standard Diplomatic practice for a new President to visit all the neighbours. The intention is to assure them that there will be no change of policy towards them despite the change of guard. When chiluba came to power in 1991 he made an extended trip to all our neighbours. If you don’t pay them a visit so they take a measure of you they may develop some suspicions.

So Rupia is condemned to make a round trip of all our neighbours eventually.

You may dislike him because I fear you are all Fred Mmembe disciples. But he has to make these confidence building trips, especially so for Tanzania whwere we have a vital energy and communications (road, rail) interest.

  35. #19 UMUNTU MUTWE, RB has also taken Kabinga Pande and Energy Minister, Ken Konga.

Our vital interests in Tanzania are Energy because of the crude oil tank farm at the port and TAZAMA and communications because of TAZARA and the Trunk road. That is why Dora went.

Don’t you want women to have equal opportunity. Ala mukula mbulu ayanga na maka. and it applies even to women Ministers

  36. Baby C

But what are you doing looking at your lecturers crotch? You are supposed to be listening to what he is saying. Yashani iyo? [-x
    Ok, what have you seen?:-?

  37. From Tanzania he’s going to Malawi to campaign for his Bingu Wamtalika @ his age imagine & of what benefit is the campaign to Zambian? l-)l-)l-)l-)l-)l-)l-)l-)l-) God help us[-o<[-o<[-o<

  38. This guy is sick. Can someone tell me that all the money that has been spent ferrying cadres around from Ethipia to Kenya to Tanzania and we hear Malawi is next, would not amount to $19000 to save a potentially productive Zambian life in Moscow. Looks like someone is out to enjoy all the things he dreamt of when he was in KKs govt. His advisors should warn him, like they should have warned the late LPM that too much time in the air is not good for his health at his age. Honestly speaking we should be angry at such things not make fun of them.

  39. I havent even bothered to read anything on this article. I’m just looking at the picture and comparing the two men.

Baby C hi. 3RqU, Jam@co, Ba Moze, Maestro, Chewe, Drosophilia and Anonymous how are you all doing?

  40. SISTER,tulifye bwino ifwe ubushimbe fye ebwa shupa. You know being a barchelor if it goes beyond normal it becomes a big problem.

    18. your flag 3RqU, please mind your own business. You can as well skip over my comments to shun that annoying you are referring to.

  42. #68. NKOLE WA MAPEMBWE greetings and thanks for addressing my issues.
On “You may dislike him because I fear you are all Fred Mmembe disciples. But he has to make these confidence building trips, especially so for Tanzania whwere we have a vital energy and communications (road, rail) interest.” I am afraid I am not one of the Fred ‘Mmembe disciples. In fact, I am one person who has been critical of the irresponsible way the POST Newspaper, which I refer to as Sata’s current Imagebuilders, has been reporting news items. Fred ‘Mmembe and his cohorts are simply bent on cheating unsuspecting Zambians who do not read widely. F. ‘Mmembe is bent on promoting his own business activities covertly.

  43. Let us compare how many trips Obama will do in his first three months in office. I bet you he will not have left the USA for worthless trips abroad. He sends his Goverment officials to do that kind of business for him.

Pres banda has has been to Egypt, RSA, Zimbabwe, mozambique, tanzania etc have I left some country out?

    84. SISTER thank you and greetings too.

I am glad to inform you that you dream of meeting me in person might come true very soon. I will be relocating to Germany in about 3 and half months, by God’s grace to stay there for some few months.

See if you can communicate to [email protected] since you wrote that you took note of this.

    Later.

  45. huh, RB! next time please sag your pants on the back not front or is it bcoz of the big stomach that they are down low? lol…!

  46. #85 Chewe. Ubushimbe is better than being in a bad relationship. I’m enjoying my independence.

#86 Ba Moze. I know I’ve been too quiet. Some things puzzle me beyond my imagination. I just tell myself DONT comment because you may end up saying wrong things……..according to the Zambian Bible

#91 Maestro I am not in Germany. I’m in Zambia. The flag is confusing. I have taken note of your contact. One day, just one day I will decide to communicate.

  47. The Governments campaign to fight poverty is been overshadowed by trips made by RB to get clean cash[allowances] clever guy. b-):-h

  48. #68 I dont remember any of the new African leaders in our neighbouring countries coming to Zambia to build confidence after they took office. Kabila never came, Kikwete never came, Motlanthe has not been, Ian Khama never came so who are you refering to? I find reference to Chiluba pretty naive as, knowing what we now know, no sane person will use Chiluba as a standard for anything-period.
#90 you left out Ethiopia and Kenya. The amount of mediocrity we entertain as people is actually frightening.

  49. Hell Everybody!

    #25(free Capitalist)
Good point but you should know that Tanzania withdrew from COMESA citing lost tax revenues and benefiting less from the organisation.

  50. a very disturbing fact is that this president runs zambia from his plane or from foreign state houses 70% of the time. we all would like travelling and going on holidays, but this dude is takin the mickey at the countrys expense.almost eveyday i read the news mr banda is on state visits, holidays or conferences(that in the end, prove meaningless).if you think chiluba was bad, wait till this guy is done. He is showin symptoms of being a very material man, you would think such a man would know when a suit fits. wake up mr president !!!!!!

  51. mr presido.. every week u out of the country? thats why zed is doing so bad coz u dont know whats going on.. nkala pa nyumba ewe ala !!

  52. HEY BLOGGERS HAVE U SEEN WHAT I’M SEEING??? NYAMA-SOYA IS BEING WELCOMED BY JUNIOR MINISTERS CAUSE EVERYONE IS TIRED OF HIS TRAVELLING. HE NEEDS TO STAY HOME TO TEND TO ZAMBIA’S PROBLEMS. REMEMBER UNIP & K.K, K.K USED TO SPEND ENERGY TOO MUCH ON NEIBOURING COUNTRIES ENDING UP IMPOVERISHING US.THE GHOST HAS STRUCK TWICE, UNIP IS BACK- NO MEALIE MEAL, NEXT TISSUE & BATH SOAP, COOKING OIL SHORTAGES AND THEY WILL BLAME IT ON ENERMIES OF THE STATE etc…

NB Notice also that his entourage is never the same. Hope its for the best. Pantu tulependa…….

  55. I wonder if anyone knows how many coutries OBAMA has visited since he became president? RB has been virtually everywhere in the world. He would be more appreciated if he visited townships and exercised in the gym. Ba president nkalaniko pansi please, twapapata?

  56. Elo naikatika, my friend in philly just told me about this blog, how long have you pipo been blogging while I have been busy making money, lol?
