Zesco United set a new Barclays Cup record of three triumphs in the same competition when they beat Zanaco 2-0 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday.
Fighton Simukonda’s side set an unprecedented record in a weekend when the Kitwe derby between Nkana and Power Dynamos on the Copperbelt failed to serve-up any drama.
At Nkoloma, Zesco secured their third Barclays Cup win on an overcast and drizzle-ridden afternoon thanks to goals from Alfred Luputa and Clifford Chipalo.
Luputa was on target in the 32nd minute when he side footed a threaded pass from John Chingandu inside the box.
Chipalo made sure of the Barclays Cup victory on the rebound in the 91st minute.
Meanwhile, Nkana and Power played out to scoreless draw in Wusakile in an incident free derby that failed to even conjure a penalty or red card.
