United Party for National Development (UPND) youths who were arrested following a clash with police two days ago, today appeared in a Lusaka Magistrate court and pleaded not guilty to the offence of Idle and disorderly conduct.

These include Aaron Sililo Pumulo 35, Joseph Muzonda 48, Lemmy Mukoba 29, Patrick Ntalasha 28 and Newton Chisuta aged 30 all residents of Lusaka.

The five who were represented by their lawyers Keith Mweemba, Paul Katupisha, Marshall Muchende and Martha Mushipe all denied the charge before magistrate Lameck Ny’ambi.

The five accused persons are charged with idle and disorderly conduct contrary to section 78 (F) of the Penal Code and Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that on June 6, 2012 while in Lusaka the five accused persons jointly and whilst acting together with other people unknown did conduct themselves in a manner likely to breach peace by blocking the public roads at the junction of Lagos and Addis Ababa drive.

Magistrate Ny’ambi has since granted the accused a K5 million bail each in their own recognizance with two working sureties who should be working in reputable organizations and holding senior positions.

The matter has since been adjourned to June 25 for mention and July 10 and 11, 2012 for trial.

  1. Cage these fools. They must realise that UPND has no direction and will lead them into more trouble if they allow themselves to be treated like cows in a kraal!UPND is the only party run like a farm! Muleisebanya guys. You are in court while HH and his minions are drinking mabisi.Shame on you!

  5. Zambians should not be intimidated by this incompetent and tribal gov’t. Primitive is the right word to describe these ugly primates!

    • We law-abiding Zambians are not intimidated. Are you? Ugly primates, and you, what “animal” are you? We refuse to be dragged into your foolishness. We don’t want demonstrations to protect criminals. Everyone who is innocent oes allow the law to take its course to prove their innocence. What is the judiciary afraid of? And why should UPND be allowed to be rude and cheeky and break the law and then cry foul? PHUCK YEW!!!

    • Don’t be silly. Are you the only one who does not know that most party members of UPND are from one tribe?

  6. I did not know a 48 yr old person is a youth. So guys while ourselves are busy going for work you guys are busy blocking already congested roads. We should add a clause in the constitution to say all demostrations should be held in Stadiums. Did you have a permit for your assembly? Next time you want to be used like that ask HH to be infront. Ask William Banda also to be infront. I will not be surprised if HH does not even come up with k5m bail. One thing is for sure, you guys are going to jail and come out with TB and AIDS.

    • @kci, wansekesha we mfumu yabene, and it’s true. How can someone nearly 50 years old be a youth. aba tonga amano yepii sana. You have made my day.

    • Correct. Stingy, arrogant, pompous… Not because he is a Tonga, but just as an individual he is waaaay out of order…
