Chisamba Injured As Nigeria Looms

Time Posted: January 23, 2013 5:53 pm

Zambia wrapped up the final day of their public practice session before Fridays showdown against Nigeria with news of an injury blow.

Chisamba Lungu is likely to miss Zambia’s penultimate Group C game against Nigeria due to a left foot injury he sustained after a crude tackle on him from suspended Ethiopia goalkeeper Bushura Tasew.

The Russian-based midfielder from FC Ural who limped out of Mbombela Stadium on Monday night sat out training on Wednesday.

Zambia team doctor Joseph Kabungo said Chisamba would undergo a late fitness test on Thursday.

And striker Collins Mbesuma pulled out of training in the last 20 minutes but Kabungo said it was nothing serious and that the striker was ok.

Zambia will hold their final training session on Thursday in camera at Ka Nyamazane Stadium.

Go Zambia and teach the Nigerians a big lesson. Attack and defend well. You can do it. You have already proved it.

That was a vicious tackle on Chisamba Lungu by Ethiopian GK. I was surprised to read that the Ethiopian couch saw nothing wrong with that. I think the prize money of $100, 000 has really gone to their heads. I hope and pray Chisamba Lungu gets well soon: he is one of the best players at Afcon.

Best wishes Chipolopolo on your Friday game — and go all the way to the grand finale.

Each In Your @Mackvich… Chisamba played wel dispite the injury, Chris, Sinkala and Clifford should be told to no longer be selfish and play as a team…please HR talk to these guys, and if Chris has to play the next game he should not go all tha way to Second half

Let Rena play Mukuka Mulenga in place of chisamba Lungu but if he is fit then he should risk Kalabo on bench.Kalaba is not performing and is not fully fit.We need strong players.I hope he’ll start also Mayuka otherwise we heading home.Mayuka makes defenders panick. Please People help our coach to make a good selection. The problems is dat Rena has failed 2 assemble a team due 2 many players we have now.Anyway gudluck chipolopolo

Good riddence – cuased a penalty and left his left flank for that guy to score. I wonder why he plays like that; mixing playing well and errors, always. He is confusing us all – we don’t know whether to call for his exclusion of inclusion, hence. Maybe a bit immature, unstable, etc. For me, he is not yet there to be called best this, best that, until he attains consistency in his play – do away with ‘fatal’ errors.

Chisamba Lungu is not a natural left back. HR misplaced him once again. He is more of a midfielder and if he had played in his natural position, he would have been free to attack and the Ethiopians would not have found room to attack. Its not his fault for the goal because when a defender attacks, the midfield needs to cover him. the problem is simply that he was not well positioned

Southern Africa must send 2-3 teams into the quaterfinals to have a posibility 1 – 2 teams going to semi and possibly to the finals.

Go Zambia Go…. Beat talkative Nigeria. They need to be gotten rid of in the group stages quickly then Ghana….

Ivory Coast will wilt when it matters in the knockout phase with their crazy gheovinia and Drogba misfiring. last afcon they neve lost a game in open play (won most of the games) but ended up losing.

The secrete is for Cris not to be selfish the way he was against Ethiopia he went for personal glory. So lets be selfless in front of goal you know its only Mayuka & Mbesuma that are clinical so please ba Chris release the ball even an assist can make u man of the match not always shooting the in the sky embarrassing yoself and end the game as the useless player I thot u know this from experience. Hope ba Katongo mwaunfwa.

We will only succumb to defeat after we’ve fired our last bullet. As of now let us go out to defend what it is ours, no one should allowed to get on a silver plate. We very fought hard to get it. Viva Chipolopolo! Lets go Zambia!
