Zambians living in Namibia come to the aid of flood victims

Zambians living in Namibia have donated 10,000 Rands to supplement government’s efforts in mitigating the plight of flood victims in some parts of the country.

Receiving the donation in Lusaka today, Vice President George Kunda said there is need for Zambians in the Diaspora to identify themselves with the sufferings of the people affected by floods in the country.

Mr. Kunda said government needs the support of others to mitigate the effects of calamities such as floods. He noted that Zambia and Namibia have both been devastated by floods.

Mr. Kunda has since thanked Zambians resident in Namibia for the gesture.

And speaking earlier, Zambia’s High Commissioner to Namibia Marvis Muyunda said Zambians living in Namibia are concerned with the happenings in Zambia.

They are currently about 1,200 Zambians living in Namibia.

  1. Good gesture but accountability should precede any donations on the part of the implementing party..ie GRZ

While “Zambians living in Namibia have donated 10,000 Rands to supplement government’s efforts in mitigating the plight of flood victims in some parts of the country” have just donated amounts to only about Zambian Kwacha 6108317.12 this is great and should be encouraged. Nothing is too small for helping others. Thank you to the Zambians resident in Namibia and keep doing well.

  3. This makes me feel weak, for we can also probably help in the U.S at little to minute cost. Our currency is stronger and we waste money on trivial things like movies and women; some but home implements that have no significance. I am going off track here.

  4. No disrespect but K6.1 Million!! Come on give me a break, i know they just donated but they can do better. I am ashamed after calculating, i watched the high commissioner presenting the cheque to vice president and I thought it was a good amount. I appreciate one thing though, it will encourage more people to assist.

  5. I can’t even remove my coin to give the govt. Its better I give direct the affected people. Otherwise, this time George Kunda has even used it for his talk time. That money should have been given directly to the affectec people

  6. i strongly recommend that the money being receieved should be well accounted for and should be used for its indended purpose.
good move for the Zambians out there abd please dont get yourselves chased.
