Bandits snatch cash from filling station

Four bandits armed with a gun, bottles and a panga yesterday raided Gwaula Agricultural Supplies Ltd (GAS) filling station in Livingstone and stole K3,450,000.00 cash.

GAS Director, Ernest Sinyangwe, has confirmed the development to ZANIS.
He said one of the four bandits was armed with a gun while the other three had bottles and a panga in their hands.

Mr Sinyangwe said the four bandits approached the filling station on foot and demanded money from one petrol attendant, threatening to shoot him if he did not surrender the money.
He said the attendant, who also happened to be the supervisor, then surrendered the money to the bandits.

Mr Sinyangwe said the bandits could have parked the vehicle somewhere.
He said he was informed about the incident around 20 hours and the matter was then reported to police for investigation.

He said plans are underway to hire a police officer, who will be guarding the filling station.
Efforts to get a comment from the police failed.

  1. Very Sad indeed. People want to reap money that they ve not sowed. Like some of the police, they budget on other peoples labours and works. They even plan using money others have toiled. It hurts so bad that such situations continue happening. Poverty is not to blame but greed.

  2. nika inside job ako tata.ikateni supervisor.nowadays people at filling stations dont keep sales returns in their pockets because filling stations are easy targets.

  3. akapondo indeed uli chipondo! Wikakakishya abakaele. What if nibayama bobe babombela mwenye pa filling sation?

  4. Why should the attendant keep such money on him? Money should be handed over immediately to a cashier sitting behind a standard protected cashier’s window. Standards!!!

  5. Its an inside job. period. Akapondo you are right bayama risked too much for K3pin.

  6. ACKIM,
Yama mwaba amashinsha.where are you-domiciled.senkobo mulobezi or is it matumbo.so you don’t know that nowadays a filling station attendant for security reasons is not suppose to stuff sales returns in his pockets but cash it in to a cashier uwikala mu main building.anyway i cant blame you vinabwela mochedwa maybe mukalibe kuvionapo.

  7. Our current govt has promoted thieving and citizens are taking note and following suit.

  8. #5 it doesnt take one 2hav a qualification 2handle a gun. By the way how many blogger can not steal if the chance is there.

  9. Akaso kakufolesha extra to police force ba M.D. So good plans after bamwibila. Shame. You were supposed to do that along time, mwike paisha aba bonfi. You know that there is always big cash pa filling station.

  10. For £410 these guys carried a gun, panga and bottles! Ama short cuts abena Zambia. We want to get rich quickly and doing less.

What is the cost of a gun in Zambia? Look at how much effort these guys put in! Surely they could have started akalibala with money they spent on this gun, time and effort put into this. Crime is all over the world alright but surely why would people risk their lives for £410?

Desparation leads to all sorts but surely the state of our country needs people to work hard and genuinely. Ah well, what can people do when the bosses are the ones stealing even more?

  11. Ba Sinyangwe also your filling station has no security at all. Spend a little bit on security so that your employees are safe. Please have a cashier so that your sales are safe otherwise even you supervisor can be involved because they know how the system works. Iprove your standards please.

  12. #14 Shi Taonga. That`s what is called papering the cracks. The problem is not this man not having security. It`s the country as a whole. Yes you are right, for £410 lives are at risk. Does this tell a story? I may be wrong though. These simple criminals only came with a gun, panga and bottles. Put a dozzy policeman there, they will come with Kalashnikovs until it gets to a point where, well, may be they turn up with F16s lol! Solve the problem first. Painful but true.

  13. My other worry on this is that they only got cash from the supervisor, does this mean the other two attendants give their cash to the supervisor or there is something we are not told ? LT more info on this issue please.

  14. # 1 I couldn’t agree more with you. People actually budget on someone else’s sweat. And are even happy that they have money…shame.

  15. Zambians have been asking for a long time. Now its time to just go and pick the lock , get it yourself. What do you want them to do? Ask?

  16. Circumstances made me what i am, i was born innocent . Circumstances made me what i am, everyone should know.

  17. No body Bags this time around….Coz its Livingstone? LSK police murder Capital no playin mate . Some bloggers are right, the Gov Leaders are looting hard earned peoples cash. The Oil Industry and its dealings in Mid East, the mass killings in the oil rich Delta Region in Nigeria, where Shell was involved and had to pay damages caused. Its only £410 to some people, but in zed you can do something start a tarven, etc. its a mission after that its another station may be this time a bank. “Looting and shooting killing on a Rampage” No Sin is greater though so these guys are just like the rest of them, Criminals! who steal from the poor, who oppress the poor, poor people who steal from poor people. Above all poor people are humble, thats the zambians in masses and innocent people allove
