Mbesuma arrives, Sinkala a doubt.

Striker Collins Mbesuma of English club Portsmouth has joined the
Zambia national team in camp on the Copperbelt ahead of Saturdays 2008
Africa Cup qualifier against Chad to be played at Konkola stadium in
Chililabombwe.

However, midfielder Andrew Sinkala of 2.Bundesliga club Paderborn is
now certainly ruled out after failing to show-up by lunchtime,
Thursday.

Mbesuma arrived on Wednesday evening in Lusaka and joined Zambia
today in Kitwe.

Meanwhile, coach Patrick Phiri has resisted the urge to call Orlando
Pirates midfielder Isaac Chansa to bolster his shaky midfield and
instead added more firepower with the addition of left-winger Clifford
Mulenga of South African 2nd division club University of Pretoria FC.

On the injury front, Phiri’s woes in that department have eased with
the recovery of midfielder Felix Katongo and striker Songwe Chalwe.

Ruled out for Saturdays game are defenders Mark Sinyangwe of Nkana and
Elijah Tana from UAE club Al Jazeera, both due to injury.

And Zambia’s opponents Chad have been flown to Ndola en route to
Chingola where they will be camped ahead of the match at Konkola.

Chad refused to take a 6-hour bus ride to Chingola yesterday demanding
to be flown instead causing a stir at Faz headquarters, Football
House, in Lusaka on Wednesday.

This is after Chad alleged was a poor reception they received from
their hosts who had opted to drive them to the match venue rather that
fly them there.

  1. Its sad that Isaac can not make the team but its good that Clifford is coming. Zambia mwela weka.

  2. Good news that Collins joined the team and the inclusion of young Clifford.M is added bonus to the team hes a natural left-footed player who can play in Felixs Position on the Left Wing.We hooting for more Goals, goals, goals… on Sat.No mercy goals, goals…

  3. Kemps, its interesting that you will be going to SA to watch Barca play against Sundowns. I watched Brazil play Ghana on march 28 this year here in Sweden. The more we watch these international games the better for our understanding of international football. Whats your comment on Mbesuma’s reported clubless situation?

  4. Mr Kemps we might meet. Please give me your email address. We may link up although I doubt I will be at the stadium.

  5. Ba Lawre, you are a real man. Thanks for accepting my apology.

Mbesuma should find a club where he will be stable because moving around will not help in as far as developing his career is concerned. He should settle and focus on playing footaball for the good of himself and Zambia.

However, I do not know the real reason he is leaving so I can not comment further.Otherwise all the best for the lad.

About Barca, Its a life time opportunity to them in play in flesh. (We are tired f images on tele)

  7. Its human nature to blame the absentees for defeat, not anymore for mother Zambia. We are tired of piling up all talks around missing players.
The ones at hand are capable, and have the power to give the win Zambians deserve. All glory boys! you got all the world’s blessings. Though not physically there, in spirit we are with you for the fight for glory.

  8. Where have you people got the news that mbesuma is leaving Maritimo. All I know is that the season is on recess up untill August- September, meanwhile any normal person can do what the lad has done, collect his family.

During the qualifiers for the world cup, Zambia’s weak link has always been the midfield, this time around, it is still problematic. Phiri should have included the under23 midfielders who shone against the Ivory Coast.

Good luck zambia and score more goals, because the final showdown with South Africa will be decided on goal difference. It will actually go to the wire!

  9. Mbesuma is for sure leaving Maritimo, The Teams website have reported that he is among five players that have not been registered for the 2007/2008 season. So he should find a club!!!

  10. Mesuma was on loan for a year to Maritimo. Unless the loan is going to be extended by Pompy where Mbesuma belongs. His contracts is still with Pompy not woth Maritimo. Hw is still a Pompy player but not in the plans of Redknapp to use at Pompy. This is for all who dont understand what a contract is Mbesuma is still on salary with Pompy until the end of the 3yr deal unless otherwise signed or sold to another club.

  11. Can you give us Maritimo’s website? I have tried all the search engines but cannot find the correct site all that comes on is trash.

  12. B4 you all get excited, FAZ & Zambia may end up being penalised for hosting our visitors shoddily, expecting them to travel by road over 200Ks(well known under hand method to exhaust your opponents), secondily by having delayed them, FAZ has failed in it’s duty to give them enough time & facilities to prepare for the match after arrival.

  13. FAZ is a let down. This Executive need to be kicked out and replaced by a new competent executive.Mulonga has passed his shelf life and time to go. It is high time FAZ re-organised themselves and take football seriously and as a profit making organisation.

It is also disgusting to see our Visiting teams not filing correct information on their arrival in Zambia so that decent ararngement are made by Zed.

Mbesuma, is indiscpline and if he continues in the same path. He will soon be professionary history and back playing at Roan United and then start begging for medical fees.
What Kind of player, who cant get a grip on his JOB both for the club and the National Team. He is always in the local papers for wrong reasons. If he does not score in this game, I am sorry to say it will dent chances of getting a decent transfer to a decent professional club.

  14. Come on guys lets wish Collins all the best of luck. The lad has a lot of potential though he needs to settle down.

  15. Mbesuma lacks displine sportmanship requires alot of self displine Iam also wondering why he has failed to settle down at one club moving about like Mandalena from Smoke Shangalas is not good. Probably he has becoming late for training too in Portgual you have seen his conduct in recent nation assignments. However I WISH THE boys good lucky tomorrow goals boys is what matters.

  16. All the best to the National Soccer Team tomorrow. keep well and score more goals. You must reproduce the flare of yester-years.

  17. guys Mbesuma, was on loan for crying out loud. Muaritimo have to buy him to register him or extend his loan period. maybe the player is not enjoying it there, the language and maybe the place. rememeber this is an island club. Mike Macnab his agent has already started making arrangements for the player. on the Chad game i think Isaac Chansa should have been given a chance to prove himself. but i guess chansa plays the same role as Rainfold Kalaba, and so thats not the kind of plays p phiri was looking for. VIVA Chipolopolo

  18. Yep ba zambia. its a bit sad that Isaac Chansa has been left out. Andrew should have been contacted tw weeks ago. but all the same we are winning. lets give the boys support.

  19. For sure we are winning, but we need as many as possible goals. Ba Zambia muli chipolopolo !!! GO GO GO ZAMBIA

  20. I CONCUR WITH 20AND 22 THAT MBESUMA LACKS DISCILPLINE, THE CHAP ALWAYS ARRIVES LATE, BE IT AT THE NATIONL TEAM AND HIS CLUB. MOREOVER, HE MUST WATCH HIS PROFESSIONAL CAREER, GOING INTO THE MATCH TOMORROW WITHOUT ANY GOAL FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS IS NOT ON FOR A STRIKER OF HIS STANDING, HE MUST SCORE, INFACT HE IS THE LEADING ZAMBIA’S STRIKER.

  21. s naiI know how much som soccer fans hate/love Mbesbuma and so on but I do not think that this is the right time to start posting all your retrogresive comments. The focus right now should be on thme Zambia game this weekend. Mbesuma has his manager who will take care aof the business of where he plays next season, Let us just look forward to the game ma ilo and then see discuss what our chances will be. No matter how negativ we are towards Mbesuma, the fact is that he has a 3 year contract with Pompey, and no matter what Redknapp says or thinks Pompey will always pay Mbesuma’s wage (app. 5000 British and not ZIM pounds a week)

  22. Chipololo iye ba Zambia nalelo ba wina iye chipololo.
Chipololo iye ba Zambia nalelo ba wina iye chipololoChipololo iye ba Zambia nalelo ba wina iye chipololoChipololo iye ba Zambia nalelo ba wina iye chipololoChipololo iye ba Zambia nalelo ba wina iye chipololo
6-0 SA will lose agaisnt Congo.

  23. I wonder why we are always not able to come up with a complete national team.FAZ should put their differences they have with some players, for the benefit of the nation. Why having a grudge for player? All the same,we are wining 2:0
