Share

Inspector General of police Ephraim Mateyo has been honoured with a medal of hard work by the Gideons International.

The medal has been bestowed on Mr. Mateyo for his commitment to crime prevention and dedication to duty.

Gideon International National Field Officer Fred Nduna said the medal should energize the police chief to work even harder.

Receiving the medal, Mr. Mateyo expressed his gratitude to Gideon International for the gesture.

Mr. Mateyo added that the medal was not only for him but for the entire Zambia Police Service.

At the same function, Gideon International donated 5000 bibles to the Zambia Police Service.

Gideon International National Field Officer Fred Nduna said the bibles were a sign of appreciation from Gideon International for the support it has continued to receive from the Zambia Police Service.

Inspector General of police Ephraim Mateyo thanked Gideon International for the donation.

Mr. Mateyo said the misperception of considering Police Officers as people without faith is long gone as Police Officers are also God fearing people.

He added that his command is in support of chaplaincy in all divisions as this is basis of bringing officers closer to God.

The IG assured Gideons International that the donated bibles will be spread country wide and used accordingly.

He also urged police officers to seek God’s guidance.

  1. What hard working, ladies and gentlemen, Mateyo awaya waya chabe! 42 contractor thieves have been milking the government of millions and this hard working Mateyo of yours was like Levy just busy slumbering. Mabenga is still loitering around when he should have been behind bars, so is Katele, and some organisation with a so called national field officer thinks he deserves a medal. Actually, I think Gideons International should be investigated for trying to corrupt police morals with bibles.

  2. What hard working, when corruption in his area of service is the order of the day! The word ‘nichekeleko’ was invented by his service men, some of his junior officers obtain fake qualifications from Matero under his nose and he fails to investigate and promotes them, is that being God fearing?

  3. It is an open secret that Zambia Police are an extension of the mmd. This is why opposition parties are never given permits to hold rallies. Shame of unprofessional conduct of law and order.

I also want to state how poorly our police are led. They do not even have Crime Laboratory where comprehensive tests such as DNA, advanced forensics could be carried out. Instead, they thing having cars is the only way to fight crime. Them need to be visible as well as having a proper DNA Laboratory instead of sending samples to RSA for DNA testing. Shows how poorly trained and educated they are in ZP.

  4. the transformation of ZP from “kampelwa” investigators to a force resembling a crime detecting unit started with Ndhlovu.it has taken many years to uproot the type of policing that was there under Darius Kalebo & Co. !!At least the mgt of ZP are fairly educated and hints of professionalism surface once in a while!!I think our Police have been let down by the prosecution and prison services.we need to invest more in policing this country and a few Gideon bibles can only help (not too sure how though!!)

  5. #8 – You cannot solve crimes of murder, theft, corruption and female sexual abuse by reading Gedion products. You need science and technology to zero in on the DNA of the culprit that has raped your kid.

I do not know what annual targets the Police in Zambia set for themselves to acquire new technology and skills. I notice that most ZP members become lawyers. This means that they are onto prosecutions bench. Most of them do not have science degrees to work with DNA anaysis equipment. I do not know how many Crime labs are planned for each province! Sadly, our LPM is deadwood on these matters except for his bank account!

  6. the UK has among the best police forces in the world..Brown/Blair are just as ignorant about professional policing as is LPM.you don’t need a science degree to appreciate the value of technology.the reason ZP is littered with lawyers is becoz the first problem was the policing before infringed on peoples rights hence torture (kampelwa) was rife!!the police force was so ignorant of the law that basic policing was abysmal.the application of DNA in policing is being argued as a privacy infringement so its not the entire solution!!

  7. the UK with all its technology still has daily reports of sexual abuse of minors, serial rapists etc at a level much higher than is reported in Zambia.#9, policing includes prevention, containment, public education etc etc.Policing is more complex than we see it to be and as such it will take time re-train ZP to provide the service you and i expect!!when the UK police shot an innocent man during the “terrorist mania” nobody said Blair was a deadwood did they???
