Saint Marks Boarding School blames ZESCO

Share

Authorities at Saint Marks Boarding High School in Choma have complained against the persistent water problem that has hit the institution as a result of erratic electricity supply by ZESCO.

Briefing District Commissioner, Mungoni Simulilika when he visited the institution yesterday, Head teacher Francis Hafwiti said the school has been experiencing water supply problems due to frequent power outages.

Mr Hafwiti said the school relies on under ground water supply and that in the absence of electricity, it has been difficult to operate the submersible pumps.

He expressed fear that boarding pupils may be tempted to bath in the nearby stream where crocodiles have of late been spotted.

Mr Hafwiti appealed to government to provide the institution with a hand pump which can be used as an alternative source of water.

And the head teacher has complained of increasing insecurity at the institution due to rampant theft of school property by suspected villagers from surrounding areas.

Mr Hafwiti told the District Commissioner that most of the movable school furniture has been stolen and that some of it has been spotted in surrounding villages.

He suggested that the Zambia Police service help the institution mount a clean up exercise in the villages to recover the stolen furniture.

  1. Blame, Blame, blame. all the time blaming someone. ZESCO has issues to resolve but are we going to live our lives complaining about ZESCO ? why can’t we find a way of dealing with problems other than blaming others ? isn’t it possible for the school to buy a generator just for he water pump ? what about a solar panel ? or is zesco supposed to supply these as well?

  2. #1 you can’t see the problem if you are not affected.do you know how much funding these schools get from govt for you to suggest the buy those things.ba zesco bachilamo this year.its too much naba kk is complaining about zesco.

  3. #1,you are unfuturistic, short sighted, probably disintergrated thoughts that can not percieve reality.Whats the point of buying a generator (when pupils need updated materials and computers in schools)at the expense of a rotten company that has failed the nation of zambia since time in memorial.Zesco is run by a group of unimformed personnel or some unscrupulous beings who got their jobs through relatives and dubious means. It has of a rotten personnel who are runnig a system tehy dont understand, its engineers (if at all it has)are unpractical forgetting that engineering is a practice, its better of disposed.

  5. Sisala must go!!! That ZESCO thing is so hopeless that they can’t even follow their own load shedding time table! They spend money to publish the time tables in the newspapers yet they don’t follow them. What manner of incompetence is this? Are they trying to always catch us unawares so that weare alwys inconvinienced? We are paying so much for so little. As I post this, we are having very low vottage here.

  6. ZESCO..yashani mulechita. do our leaders even have a vision of the future? Zambian leadrs are only stuck on plan A they never think of plan B…

wake up !!!!! we dont elect u just to sit in yo nice chairs and grow yo potbellyysssssss.. damm a work out wouldnt hurt LOL

  7. This Gigantic monopoly is killing us. Lets privatise some of the Power Stations. Zambia has mammoth water and waterfall resource to be sujected to Load shedding.Ironically whilst the masses are suffering ZESCO is exporting power.Shame on you ZESCO ,you have lamentably failed. You have failed to power the nation.

  8. Zesco should be realistic in the way they are billing most low income people living in most compounds like Kanyama and Chibolya areas. These areas are not on prepaid scheme but on fixed charge, where do you think they will be getting the K192 500 about per month just to pay for power which half the time is not even available, pls lets be realistic in the way things are done in this country, prepaid scheme does not seem to work! and poor people without this facility should be made to suffer, revise this system before people start throwing stones!

  9. Zesco have really failed they are saying by the end of June this so called will minimize, they are all hopeless including chuchu who cant not even say anything about the load shedding. MMD have failed us me am sick and tired of this family tree. The government can’t even say anything they have been quiet.
