PF youth day ‘ban’ lifted

Share

The government reversed an earlier decision to ban Patriotic Front (PF) youths from participating in youth Day celebrations.

Sport, Youth and Child Development Minister, Gabriel Namulambe confirmed this in a letter to Patriotic Front Leader, Michael Sata which was also made available to ZNBC news.

Mr. Namulambe said in the letter that the PF youths have been allowed to participate on condition that their behaviour at the event is orderly.

He said the decision to ban the youths has been reversed in the interest of democracy and because of the orderly manner in which PF women participated in the women’s day celebrations.

The minister has however advised the PF not to take for granted the decision by government to allow them to participate in the youth day celebrations.

Mr. Namulambe said police have been instructed to ensure all participants at the youth day celebrations observe maximum order.

  1. comrade minister, once again you’ve put your foot in it.you say the decision was “reversed” in the “interest of democracy”???Gabriel, would the decision to ban them in the first place now be considered “undemocratic”??.It is emotive outbursts such as these that undermine the credibility of the MMD and the democratic principles it has tried ever so hard to uphold!!One begins to wonder…if a cabinet minister has a doubtful understanding of the word democracy.. what hope is there???if i was president,Gabriel, you would be on your bike riding into the sunset!!

  2. Clear to me that the minister who banned PF youth members is a mental retard. As usual, Levy loves mental retards like himself. Think Zambia, think all parties, not only those whose underwear is of the same colour as yours.

  3. WISHING ALL ZAMBIAN YOUTHS GOD’S BLESSING AS YOU COMEMORATE YOUTH WEEK. DON’T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS DESPITE THE ECCONOMIC DIFICULTIES YOU MAY BE GOING THROUGH.WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE.MY SIMPLE ADVICE IS TO ASK YOUTHS TO AVOID DRUGS,
ALCOHOL AND CRIME.SPEND YOUR TIME AND YOUR ENERGIES IN DOING THE RIGHT THINGS WHICH WILL HELP YOU IN FUTURE.YOU WILL MAKE IT. GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  4. LETS WORK WITH YOUTHS AND NOT JUST USING THEM WHEN IT SUITS US. YOUTHS ARE OUR PARTNERS AND NOT SLAVES

  5. This whole marching nonsense has got to come to an end..What the hell are our youths marching for? This is not the communist era, get our youths jobs and life skills instead of parading them in the hot sun for a cup of maheu.

  6. I have an option of the way youth should celebrate their day. I propose that we should encourage youths in each district or province into thinking of various projects. The products of these projects should be exhibited on such a day and deserving youths or youth groups in each district or province should be rewarded. That way we shall have creative minds among the youths.

  7. Ba Dickson #9, everyday is a day for the youth…they just need to get their acts together and do something for themselves!! i don’t see elaborate celebrations for Fathers or Mothers day.. let alone a public holiday!!

  8. The best gift that can be given to the youths is education.Once we have educated and economically empowered youths,it would tremendously reduce on the low calibre leadership that we elect. It would be difficult for someone without substance to be elected and gone would be the days of gaining votes based on how much kachasu aspiring candidates buy these vulnerable youths.

  9. Yah, parading youths is a share waste of productive time. Engage the youth in work related fields rather than making them just feel” imiti ikula empnaga” slogan. We need jobs for our youth and not just ill conceived youth empowerment funds that we dont see being released. The youth is todays leader not tomorrow coz the expiry date for the average zedian is around 37 and this is a youthful age, so let them rule and let the old men retire o pave way to new ideas from the lads.

  10. i think that our leadership has been a total let down for the youth of zambia. There appears to be no plan in sight in how to address the large scale youth unemployment. Although not to support him, even Hitler had a better youth empowerment movement!

  11. we need to claim our freedom and foster our future as youths politician concerns is only fot their families.we need a president of the opposition who respect the voters we hold him accountable.remember that even the little supporters you have will ditch you. PF change your goal post we are tired with the gable game.

  12. Iwe ci Minister! It seems to me you think you are doing a favor to the Youths by Conditionally allowing them to participate in the Matching nonsense!

Look in the eyes of a homeless man, tell me what you see? In the eyes of a jobless man … What about the eyes of the prisoner, what do you see? Now that you see it all, it’s time to make up your mind. Do you want the Youths to be well fed slaves or hungry free men. What’s the point in being educated if you can’t get a job. What’s the point in being a proud Zambian youth if foreigner will get more for the same amount of work?
Trust and invest in your own Youth. Give the youths developmetal projects and serious loans, you’ll appreciate!
