Onus is on New Faz Executive To Prove Themselves

Share

Sports permanent secretary Bob Samakai says the onus is on Kalusha Bwalya’s new Faz executive to prove to the nation that they are in office to serve Zambian football.

“This year’s FAZ elections were more pronounced and people have been wondering what is in Faz,” Samakai said on Sunday evening in Lusaka.

“The onus is on them to prove themselves.

“We are challenging the new executive to prove that being in FAZ is not about money or personal gains but public service.”

Samakai said his ministry was looking forward to working with a Faz focused on making the association more financially independent.

“We hope that the new executive will be coming to government with something,” the sports permanent secretary said.

“We want a situation were Faz will only come to us for top up after securing its own sponsorship.

“Football being the most popular sport, it’s easier to get the corporate world on board. Dependency on government should be done away with.”

Samakai however said for any funds or grants Government will give to Faz, Football House will be obliged to be show great responsibility with money received.

“There is no need for them to get upset when we ask about the distribution of funds,” he said.

“When we put in money, we need to know where it is going. It’s not that we will be interfering in their operations, even Fifa understands that public funds have to be accounted for.”

  1. Good advice from the Permanent Secretary.Hope the Kalu led executive will take it seriously otherwise I wish them all the best.

  2. Timely advise indeed. In short, govt says,If you want us out of football administration, secure your own funding.
With the immense exposure that our FAZ president and vice have,we might just play in that 2010 Final!!Congrats to the new executive. We shall be watching every move you make.

  3. Clifford Mulenga has signed a 2 year contract with Bidvest Wits. I thought the lad was heading to Isreal. Anyway, its a positive move from Mvela League to PSL.

  4. chansa scores for his club away from home in the 9th min to open the scoring for helsingborg in their 3-0 win over sundsvall while edwin phiri’s team loose at home via 1-0 scoreline agaisnt hammarby.Phiri was in the line up and was booked after 25 minutes.

  5. Soccer, soccer, soccer and FIFA makes me sick! It has caused hatred, aggressiveness and racism
The originator of football was imagining the opposite. If he were alive now he would propose the cancellation of the FIFA. He was believing that it would create love among the population of the earth. What happened is the spread and deepening of hatred and hate even among friends and hostility among the peoples. Mulonga and kalusha and Mwenye Adam. The match of 1970 led to war between Honduras and Salvador with 30,000 killed or wounded and that wound will never coalesce. Then it became an exploiting economic embezzling venture in lieu of an entertaining sport one.

  6. Clifford Mulenga for Wits. Its better than Mvela League at least now he get his confidence back. All the best young man

  7. Clifford Mulenga for Wits. Its better than Mvela League. At least now he can get his confidence back. All the best young man

  8. #7 wat has education has to do with managing football? how far has “pele gone with skool” former sports minister in brazil, platini the uefa prez? so i think bringing the education issue over FAZ prez not the issue? jst give kalu a chance? cuz zimbabwe prez is the the most educated prez in africa with the worst economy. don’t get me wrong education is important. but it is not everything.

  9. wat brains? pele didn’t even go to secondary skool? kalu atleast finished grade 12. platini didn’t even see the corridors of a secondary?. kalu is okay. jealous fools. hate it kalu is the greatest. and many “true zambians are happy he has won.

  10. “During the fall-out from Ghana 2008, 29 of the top 40 officials in the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) resigned under huge pressure from the public. “Our officials must also learn to resign when objectives are not being met coaches too unlike waiting for 4 years

  11. If there’s a game that most Zambians are good at … “Talking too much”. This is Not even a debateble issue. So far see the partiality of the statements in the speach above:

“We are challenging the new executive to prove that being in FAZ is not about money or personal gains but public service.”

Money, money, money! Of course this is supposed to be team work! Give them the money, patience and support they need, and then advise …do not condem. Failure has the ability to bring good lessons in life.

Let Kalu try his administration. He knows we are all looking at his results, in all team spirit. Do not over-manage them!

  12. I just hope Kalu would not involve himself in the scandle of buying and selling of player as FAZ prezdnt like he has been. hes above that.e.g, mbesuma, milanzi& others for the love of money.we all want money but lets us not be that desperate. All In all Kalu can do it if he focuses on the ball unlike global trotting and buying and selling of players.

  13. every time is give chance.how many chance do you give a person when it involve tax payers money (vice president/coach failed).people, we don`t lack people with leadership quality in this country.lets stop this recycling of leadership.

  14. Let’s leave all those old criticisms at the door. Let’s see how they conduct themselves and what they do now. Let’s all get behind them, we are all hoping for the same thing. It’s good if everyone involved can clarify their position before the new FAZ embarks on the nitty gritty.

Kalu shouldn’t be looking to sell players but be looking to create a environment where players can be scouted and signed so it’s not this murky business. I hope we can do this and set an example in Africa because it is only going to be more of an issue. Official standards, policies, rights. No more players going AWOL etc.

  15. I’m impressed by the articless regarding the Kalu committee.
I hope, trust and believe that the Kalu committee will take serious all contents of the articles.

I wish Kalu and his committee the very best of luck.
I also wish to reitarate my offer to help the Kalu Committee in what ever way I can from here in England
