New Zambia Coach To Be Unveiled in Two Weeks

Share

Faz will unveil the new Zambia coach in a fortnight’s time while a government team and delegates from Football House will tomorrow, Friday inspect Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.

Faz vice president Emmanuel Munaile confirmed the developments today in Kalusha Bwalya regimes first press briefing since sweeping to power on Match 29.

“The association realizes the anxiety in the nation regarding the recruitment of a national coach,” Munaile said.

“We envisage that the new coach will be in position to start work before the first week of May 2008.”

Munaile also revealed that Phiri would not be part of the new coaching set-up.

“With regard to the position of Mr. Patrick Phiri, the association will not be renewing his contract as national coach,” Munalile said.

“The contract extension was performance related and came to an end on March 31, 2008.

“We wish to thank Mr. Phiri for the invaluable service he has rendered to the nation and would wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Meanwhile, Phiri’s last act on official Faz duty will see him represent Zambia at the 2008 Africa Cup finals review seminar to be held in Cairo from April 21 to 23.

And a Faz and government team led by Bwalya and a senior sports ministry official will inspect Konkola Stadium on Friday, April 11 where Zambia hopes to host its international competitive matches.

Munaile also added that the prospect of hosting a home qualifier outside Zambia was likely.

However, Munaile said Faz was optimistic a Fifa inspection team that will inspect Konkola next month ahead of Zambia June 20 World Cup qualifying home match against Swaziland would give the venue the thumbs-up to host the match.

Konkola has been shut since 11 months ago after 11 fans where killed in a stampede on June 2 at the end of Zambia’s Africa Cup qualifier against Congo-Brazzaville.

  1. Its good to know that the new FAZ team is putting its acts together. Please let us know weather we are getting a foreighn coach or local? Please GRZ should work hard to refurbish the national stadia as sson as possible. Right now Namulambe is not even talking about the ,Livingstone,Luska, and Ndola staduims he sung about when he came in office.
International Matches and friendlies provides young and inexperienced players with confidence and character. We hope the new FAZ team will take this seriously.

  2. I hope the new Faz officials who have come on board will do more good than harm.I wish them a good four year term.

  3. Zambians who is this same coach they are talking about that you want to praise FAZ for. I bet he is kalu’s old mate from Mexico or Holland eh. So just using the word expertriate makes everyone orgasm eh.

  4. Lets wait and see. But one of the assistants is Lucy Msiska.I wish Charles Musonda was on the technical bench as well. I think Kalu’s executive is resuly oriented. Good luck kalu and your team.

  6. #4 why are u alwayz having negativity in this regard of faz.for once cant u contirbute positively except criticise.Zedians grow up for once soccerwise. For as long as that coach does not become domant on the pitch when the team is losing like phiri, the bamfuchile(may his soul rest in peace)it is all good for the team.

  7. Does it really matter if the new coach is from Holland or Mexico? As long as he has a rich trach record, I will welcome him for dinner at my house. I never liked Patrick Phiri, any coach could have achieved what he brags about. The team is losing and he just sits. I salute kalu and his executive for the brave decision of engeaging an expatriate coach. What a team, Kalu and Munaile!

  8. I also hope that the new coach would call up all zambian players abroad and come up with a formidable team. There should not be permanent places for players. Let the coach work on the defence.

  9. Don’t bring former midfielders from Estonia or Lithuania, calling them coaches. Eye on the ball? Eye on the executive, bashi mwana.

  10. Go for it guys. Its been long since we won convincingly. Whne ever we play its either the referee disfavoured us or its because we left Tana/Mbesuma. Eyes on the ball

  11. I have better soccer knowledge than most of you here. I am a coach with a great team, high qualifications and good expirience. You just dont change coaches after loosing two games.

  12. the man#13 , I’d like to know what makes your knowledge of the game better than anyone elses. You’re full of it! So what’s your contribution anyway? Besides being an armchair critic and a hater?

  13. Ba # 13 what great team are u coaching or have coached an if u are so qualified what have put in practice to improve the game in zed.You know theory of expertise is worthless if not implemented:boss we need skills as well.so bragging wont help…

  14. We need a coach who can contribute to the revolutionalisation of our game. It is good that they are considering former players with international exposure like siska.

Eyes on the ball gentlemen. Lets wait and see.

  15. Kalwisha or kalusha (whatever his name is) hates Phiri. Kalwisha, just accept that the charcoal black phiri performed better than you!

  16. My contributions

1.Bring back reserve team soccer in the PL in Zammbia bane.

2.The Zambia Schools Coca cola cup that is competed for by the best Sec Schools from each province should cahnged so that it is competed for by Provincial Sec School select side i.e. where all the best players take part, some schools have one or very good players but because they don’t qaulify the talent goes to waste

    3. Reintroduction of the Provicial Select sides competition with the winners meeting in the finals at a neutral venue

    4. Trainning of coaches at all levels
This is how it was in the past

  18. Guys the new Faz exec needs to act quickly. There is a boy who was born in france but has connections with Zambia and is at chelsesa youth team. His name is gael kakuta. He is very good. You can see him on you tube. He can still play for zambia if faz act now. There is also Charels Renken and a goalkeeper in romania by the name of cezar anderi lungu. They can play for zambia if Kalusha acts quickly.

  19. Yebo, let them play our home games out of Zed.. ba FAZ pliz.. finshi mule leta? ok bring the games to Jozi.. Zed fans would fill the stadium and provide more atmosphere

  20. As long as the new coach is gonna be paid from tax payer’s bucks there needs to be transparency on who is being considered for the job.Where and when was the advert for coach posted or its’ yet to run, and what we want in and from the new coach. But in two weeks were gonna be told who it is, won’t we? Let us know.We are after all the ultimate funders and consumers of football.

  21. #4 don’t look down on MEXICO and HOLLAND,the countries and its people are much much more advanced than zambia in terms of EVERYTHING PUNK.

  22. You sound like Patrick Phiri whose coachong job has not been renewed. Which great team are you coaching? Nkana? There are no great teams in zambia, they are all ordinary/average teams, primary school like.

  23. #4 if Kalusha can ‘poach’ Frank Edmundo Rijkaard from Barcelona to manage the Zambia National Team, would you refuse to accept him because he is from Holland where Kalu once played? Please, give the new FAZ team time to settle down. They have not even looked at the handover Report of the previous Administration yet you are already on them to produce results!

  24. What is the logic behind firing Phiri because of poor performance and then sending him on an official “postmorterm” trip! They clearly stated his contract expired on March 31st and wiched the best in his future, how is he now represnting FAZ to Egypt? This is a joke right? And this is after the Tana Ghana saga. The circus continues!

  25. Zambian football has been crap and it is politisized. If our Govt is a begger how do u expect FAZ to sustain themselves. It is very ridiculas for Govt to be telling FAZ to fund themselves when our Govt is a begger, it is like telling a begger to buy his own food when u yourself is a bigger, elyo ne nsala nako kuno ku Zed ya yamba uku chilamo mwe bushe na bola kuti umuntu apanta, ama lwele ni pa mushi, uku sapula nako ni katwishi takwaba

  26. This is the main reason i wasnt for the idea of bringing in kalu as FAZ pres because he will find some third rate mexican old friend of his to come in and coach zambia.
We dont need a coach who will ask kalu which players to put in the national team.We need a free mind so we can have the best players represent our nation…..kwapwa nomba kalu abeula…jack ass
