Share

Police in Lusaka have arrested two of the four suspected notorious criminals who were involved in the shooting and killing of Lusaka’s Mtendere businessman two days ago.

And Police in Lusaka have recorded nine cases of aggravated robberies for the month of May this year.

Lusaka Commanding Officer, Greenwell Nguni, said at a press briefing in Lusaka today that the two notorious bandits were arrested in Lusaka’s Chibolya compound after a tip-off from the public.

Mr. Nguni said two other suspected notorious criminals managed to escape the scene after they exchanged heavy fire with police officers.

He named one of the arrested suspects as Alias Peter Kasai, commonly known as Alias Peter Musonda, who holds a fake Zambian passport bearing the name Alias Peter Musonda.

He disclosed that the two that have been arrested were found with various stolen items, suspected to have been stolen.

He said the items that have been recovered include an assortment of drugs, one laptop, several rounds of ammunition, a pistol and household goods.

The Lusaka Police Chief has since advised the two notorious criminals, who are on the run to surrender themselves to the police, failure to which they would be forcefully fished-out of their hiding places.

He said a manhunt has already been launched and police officers have since been deployed in various parts of Lusaka.

He has since advised the public with the information leading to the arrest of the two notorious criminals, who are on the run, to report to the police who would in turn expedite investigations of the murder case.

And Mr. Nguni said nine cases of aggravated robbery have been recorded in Lusaka between 1st and 30th May, 2008.

Mr. Nguni said the police service was concerned with the increasing number of aggravated robberies in Lusaka.

He said the service has stepped-up measures to curb aggravated robberies in the country.

  1. Shoot those gun clad foreigners on sight…killing innocent hard working Zedians like that. The issuing officer of the fake passport should also be apprehended. He may be the head of the gangs, hiring and giving them the fake papers so they can go about murdering innocent Zedians. They’re the people giving credit to xenophobia.

Keep up the good work ZPS!

  2. The police must indeed deep into how Kasai got the Zedian passport. I'm sure a scam will be unearthed in which foreigners are easily using locals to obtain NRCs and passports. Ephraim Mateyo please do something. MM, Chingola, Zed. The police must indeed deep into how Kasai got the Zedian passport. MM, in Chingola.

  4. Is this man a kasai by tribe or it’s just his surname? Whatever the case, these criminals need to hanged. I dont know why we are shy of hanging these murderers. If they couldn’t respect someone’s life before they pull a trigger, why should we respect them? Dammn, hang them by their balls.

  5. #2&3 You don’t have to leave your comments where a name is supposed to be. Look at the way your comments and names appear.

  6. its sad that despite deploying the paramilitary in the tourist capital, these guys killing people with iron bars are still increasing, they will steal 4nes and money if you dont resist them but if you do they will hit you to death. I jst lost my baber man here in maramba we barried him 3 days ago, he was hit with an iron bar on the head and died a day after.

  7. # 6, What time did this happen and what time do you close your barbar shop? Do you see that becos of your love for more money, you have costed an innocent soul?

Or did you expect ba parapara to patrol your barbar shop too?

  8. The reason these foreigners are getting Passports is that we are easily corrupted. It’s time we become patriotic and stamp this out. Otherwise it’s better we sell our country

  9. Some of you bloggers are mad more especially#11 instead of commenting on the subjcet matter you are there using abbusive language chimbwi.

  10. #10 you are right. something should be done in order to curb these criminals. I think each township or shanty should have names of the streets, all the houses with house n°. and sub- registry-office. Our NRC is forever alive or dead. Our NRC should have date of expiring and name of the street and a house number. when someone change a town or a compound all the particulars on the NRC should change so that all the citizens are monitored.

  11. -These guys deserve killing them. Kill them with the public viewing. Its so bad how these kasai and his friends have been killing our fathers and mothers in a good country Zambia. Please ZPS do your best. Bring those murderres to book and the officers giving fake passports should be arrested. its so saddening to see people in UK with Zambian passport but they have accents from french speaking african contries and nigeria. Whats this???

  12. I agree that we Zambians need to be more patriotic and know that just because most Zambians are poor does not mean that our identity is up for sale. It is a shame that any criminal ***** can acquire a Zambian passport so easily. They have tarnished their own countries’ names and if we are not careful, they will tarnish ours.

  13. The issue of foreigners bearing Zambian IDs is a complex one. Before I left Zed in the late 1990s, I lived in Kalundu, where, I had a big servant cottage. One guy that belonged to the same church as I and spoke Bemba quite well asked if he could rent my cottage. You know Zambian brotherly hood once you belong to the same church. The guy only paid for the first 3 months and thereafter, he became an issue. Since he had told me previously that he was in self employment I never ventured to dig deep to know exactly what he was doing. Only later to discover he was of Congolise origin and was a “Kaponya” wa ma passport in Cairo road. Ah, I had to make sure I got rid of him sooner than he came in..

  14. Continued…from # 18

    into my house.

Lesson: Be very careful with whom you host especially the people we meet at church. Thieves now camouflage in churches in order to win favors.

  15. Computerise the NRC and passport database. One can easily acquire more than one NRC or passport. I like the South African system, it is not easy to forge the ID or passport.

  16. I for one subscribe to the issuing of digital id cards. We have a lot of “friends” from neighbouring states who have become Zambians because of the many loopholes in the registration system. Let us computerise the system and we shall put a curb to his practice.
