Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande says the call for a United States of Africa can not succeed without free movement and interaction of people.
Mr. Pande who is also Southern Africa Development Community-SADC Foreign Affairs Chairperson said free movement and interaction should be tolerated between and among all people from all countries around Africa, if Africa is to talk about a successful United Sates of Africa.
Mr. Pande who described the violence that displaced a number of foreigners resident in South Africa is a sad development said if Africa is to be united that there was need to build bridges within regional bodies before talking about a United States of Africa.
The SADC Foreign Affairs Chairperson said United States of Africa calls for serious sensitisation of people so that they understand what it is all about saying if it was going to be difficult to implement it amidst xenophobic acts.
He told ZANIS in an interview that SADC region needs to free from problem so to foster development..
Referring to the situation in Zimbabwe, Mr. Pande said the recent wave of violence in the neighboring country was a source of concern to the region.
He appealed to the Zimbabwean authority to ensure the June 27th Presidential elections are free from violence if they are to be credible.
And Mr. Pande said the opening of missions abroad has tremendous benefits in enhancing economic development in the country.
The Foreign Affairs Minister who revealed that Zambia will soon open an embassy in Malaysia said previously the emphasis was opening of mission abroad for economic foreign policy reasons but now the emphasis is on economic gains.
The minister stated Zambia can not be an island in this globalize world.

US of africa is impossible!it would just create a huge block of countries,certain to be mismanaged and brought down with the likes of Mugabe.It wont be fair for hard working countries because they would be working for the poorer countries.Joints like sudan and ethiopia,wat will they give us?instead they’ll take all our food.first utilize the tools we already hav like AU to the fullest then think of other things

It could be Etats-Unis de Afrique. it does have a nice ring to it, no? Anyhow, for Africa to be united it must have a common identity. We all such different cultures as well as different languages that we would actually lose a lot in trying to be homogenous.

Zambia must do more in Tourism
Tourism Minister, Michael Kaingu says Zambia has not done much in recognising the importance of naturing tourism in the country.
Mr. Kaingu said countries like Kenya and Botswana have done well in recognising the importance of the sector.
The Minister however noted that President Mwanawasa is passionate about the tourism sector.
Zambia receives about 700,000 tourists annually but less than 250,000 tourists spend a holiday in the country.
I advise y’all to read the teachings of Haile Selassie I on this matter and the pan-African philosophy of Kwame Nkhrumah. Africa awaits it’s creators of Unity. Are u one?

i fully support#14 if not more.it is shocking to hear even from our neighbouring countries that the victoria falls is only in zimbabwe.what has happened to slogans like Zambia in the sun,Zambia the real africa.shame on you the ministry of tourism.learn from Botswana ,Namibia.If only you could give victoria falls to Botswana,it can be a paradise.
Well whereas thats the concern we shouldnt forget that just last month Zambia won the best advertising promotion of the best tourist destination in africa.In some way we are getting somewhere, besides we have improved the airstrip in livingstone, i hope the roads are also being done.
A strategic picture needs to be inacted , a National airline in place, improved road network inaddition to destination infrastructure, reduced rates esp for locals , increased travel destinations, not only Lwangwa , Mfuwe and Vic Falls???

The United states thing cannot work where there is poverty, economic mismanagement, bad governance etc all over. This thing has only worked for Europe, it cannot work in Asia, South America, the middle east, far east and of course the dreaming Africa. Let us concentrate on workable things like non tarrif barriers to trade etc. Who would want his countries to be chocked by people whose countries are cronically in perenial wars, poverty and hunger coupled with bad governance? Let us meet where we can, step by step! We cannot out of emotions declare that we are to workout modalities of becoming one nation, Africa? Hahahahahahaha!!!!!
US of A can work! Why not, who said you have to be rich to become united states. You think the USA has united states. No they are not united. They have different laws and some states are richer than others. US of A is simply an agreement to become united politically and economically. I want to be president of the new US of A when it happens. I’ll need a vice president. Anyone interested?
If the Ngoni, the Bemba the lozi the tonga, the Luvale the Kaonde the Ila, the bisa, the lenje, the swaka, the nsenga, the tumbuka, the Namwanga, the Mambwe, the Soli etc etc who are all different nations were brought together under the new nation of Zambia, what is there to stop Nigeria, Malawi, Zambia Cameroon, Ghana, Botswana, Namibia Mozambique, Guinea Egypt etc etc becoming one nation?
May be something like the EU is more realistic. Or perhaps:

United States of West Africa
United States of Central Africa
United States of East Africa and
United States of North Africa
More realistic to split the continent up into various smaller groups.
