USE OF FEMALE CONDOM PROMOTED

Share

A senior Government official in Kasama has called for the massive promotion of the female condom in order to enhance the fight against HIV and AIDS in the country.

Kasama District Commissioner Lieutenant Colonel Steven Chanda made the call when he launched the newly improved female condom at a colourful ceremony held at Kasama General Hospital today.

Col. Chanda said female condoms needed to be promoted just like the male one in order to curb cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV as well as unplanned pregnancies in communities.

He noted that the female condom was part of the national HIV/AIDS strategic plan aimed at preventing the pandemic and as such people should feel free to use it.

Col. Chanda explained that in the past the female condom was shunned but that time has come for people to accept the product as part of the tools to prevent HIV and unplanned for pregnancies.

The DC added that the new female condom would provide both women and men an additional choice of negotiating for safe sex with their sexual partners.

Col. Chanda further said the Ministry of Health was in full support of the usage of the female condom as it would help in reducing the high incidences of sexually transmitted infections in the country.

The DC has since thanked the Zambia Health Education and Communication Trust and other partners for launching the new female condom in Kasama District. The newly launched female condom has improved features, which are user friendly to women.

  2. HH feel encouraged here comes animals for yo campaigns dont feel descouraged by sentiments such as chiefs backs who, we r behind u.

  3. Female condoms will never work. There is just too much overhead in using them. Better off concentrating on promoting the use of male condoms. But anyway maybe just as an alternative. I really don’t like anything about them. The size, shape and what mechanics would call the ‘sitting or housing’ is just to ugly to let one concentrate on the very essence of using them, which is love making.

  4. By the way are the Presidential Candidates saying anything about how they are going to fight HIV/AIDS if they are elected?

  5. No.18 I totally agree with you. Zambians lets learn to abstain and when we get life partner we remain faithful to enjoy live sex the way it was meant to be done by the almighty. His ways are the best.

  6. People lets be serious about our comments not these childish comments you are writing. AIDS is real first you get it then you will stop the funny comments.

  13. No. 16, are you living in the past, or are you related to Ba Ben? what can that man do for this country anyway, he doesnt have the qualifications for a leader, maybe he has one, AGE?

  14. How about couples who are H.I.V Positive and need to use condoms to avoid re infection.Am talikng of married ones. Or a discordant couple i.e where one is positive and the other is negative. They could be married but they cant go live. They still have to use condoms to prolong thier lives so marriage does not exclude you from using condoms. All you blogging here go for an H.I.V Test. I will go after you.

  15. No 18 and 21

Realistically, how many people will listen to you and abstain? Its normal for men to think about sex every minute, look at the number of polygamous families there are, and you want to promote abstaince over condoms.that sounds like the catholic church, deal with the realities of life because sex is the hardest pleasure to resist so rather promote condoms than abstaince. Thats the reason there’s a high HIV rate in africa because churches preach abstaince, the HIV rates just speaks for itself, not many are listening to the church.# 17 good point!

  16. Yes I have not heard any of the candidates take the AIDS issue by the horns…..not even encouraging VCT and all that. Fake chaps…. Vote for me instead.

I like your momentum Sir HH. Tell them and do the needful for Zambia. I went on hibernation for 3 dyas to attend to industrial needs, but now I am back.
UPND’s HH supporters, we have only 29 days to go.
Zambians, vote for HH for a real ray of change and hope that all Zambians can believe and trust in.

  21. People please, its good that people are made aware that female condoms are also an option. I mean you can preach abstinence all you want but are people really abstaining? be real, if you cant abstain condomize for heavens sake!

  22. #57 you are right. ichi chi #11 is very foolish, no manners not even bad ones. U r grown up, respect yourself. Dont expose your stupidity.

  23. People people people… Condoms should be the last resort (only for those that cant trust their instincts). First lets make sure abstinence is encouraged and condoms come in ONLY for those that cant abstain and as a contraceptive. There is no better way to combat HIV/AIDS than abstaining and/or being faithful to each other. Lets also fight poverty as one of the drivers of people indulging in illicit sex.

  24. #50 I dont think you are even a Tonga by tribe. You are a disgrace to Tongas. U must be coming from the Whin Chin tribe and trying to parade as a Tonga. Grow up!

  28. to those that haven’t done it don’t do it, to those that are active think seriously bout what you want in life. for the married ones one is enough stop behving like monkeys that want to finsih the whole tree of bananas.

take it from some one who knows and has been through unwanted you knw whats

  29. It appears a lot of comments are coming from kids who want to pretend AIDS is not REAL. People lets be serious and contribute towards the promotion of a healthy nation. Please be realistic and face reality.AIDS is a catestrophy which affects all sectors of the economy and any logical means of fighting the scourge should be supported.NO WONDER MOST OF YOU FEEL INSULTED WHEN ASKED TO GO FOR VCT.
