Kawambwa DEBS wants more funds for projects

The Kawambwa District Education Board Secretary (DEBS)has appealed to Government for more funds to enable the completion of projects under construction in the district.

Lathan Kafwanka made the appeal yesterday (Saturday) when a team of monitoring and evaluation officers from Ministry of Education went to check projects under the Ministry.

ZANIS reports that Mr Kafwanka explained that most projects incurred extra costs to ferry materials to construction sites.

But the Deputy Head of Infrastructure department at Ministry of Education Bernard Mwange said District Education Board Secretaries (DEBSs) throughout the country should find money to complete all construction projects in respective districts.

He said Government gave the same amount of money to all schools noting that no excuses would be tolerated for non completion of projects on time.

He warned that those who failed to complete their projects by the end of this year would not be funded for expansion projects next year.

In another development, Mr. Mwange has instructed Kawambwa DEBS to ensure that newly constructed houses at Kawambwa Basic School were occupied immediately.

He explained that failure to do so would expose the structures to vandalism.
