DRC, Zambia Draw

Share

DR Congo and Zambia on Saturday drew in an international friendly match played in Lubumbashi.

The two sides played out to a 0-0 draw in the first leg of a two-match friendly series with the next fixture scheduled to be played at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola on December 6.

An all-home-based Zambia team was using the warm-up as part of its Ivory Coast 2009 Caf Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2nd round, 1st round away qualifier against Angola in Luanda on November 30.

DR Congo too were fine-tuning for their CHAN qualifier against Cameroon in a 1st leg away fixture to be played during that same weekend.

Meanwhile, Zambia return home on Sunday and are expected to take-off for Rabat the same evening ahead of their November 19 friendly there against Morocco.

The team to face Morocco is expected to comprise of 13 foreign-based players minus Felix Katongo, James Chamanga and Isaac Chansa who will be missing due to injury.

  1. Fair results and congrats Chipolopolo.
    Meantime:
Vote president HH and his UPND Team for a possible youthful team of GRZ to lead Zambians to economic independence.

Kala kabotu alakuyasa mavwa. This is our time, as youths, and this is surely our moment to work with new Personal Computers tools – calculator boy – to serve all Zambians of all backgrounds for a real ray of change and hope that all can believe and trust in.

  2. On thing for sure is that we are recycling same old under performing strikers. Why can’t our coach go rural and look for talent? I am sure the talent is there but they do not have transport money to come and justify their talent. Zambia must stop playing names, we need results especially in friendlies. Bad result anyway.

  3. In english when you say draw it means there were goals scored. When neither team has scored it is called a stalemate. Lt check your vocabulary unless you are one of those who passed using the leakage system.

  4. # 12 that is English English ours is Zambian English! There is also Welsh English, Scottish English and Irish English…Oooh i realise there is American English also.

  5. #12 ,everybody understand what they mean.If you are in america soccer and football are two different sports, but in Zambia the meaning is the same.Keep your English from Mpelembe secondary school to yourself.

  6. Our boys still can’t score. The coach should use more of the midfield than depending on wingers all the time. This is causing our strikers not to be well fed upfront. The coach must change the style of play.

  7. It is a good result considering that they were away.

One thing is this, was it the DRC team or a Katanga select team? Because in the past everytime you play in Lubumbabshi, it has almost always (usually) been a select side.
It is good to hear new caps coming up and holding their own. Keep it up Sipolopolo. will be with you beginning December.
Good news about Andrew Sinkala coming into the swing.

  8. The most important thing is to have a strong defense. Every team that has won major tournaments has had a very good defense. That is going to be our secret to winning in Egypt or coming away with a draw. I think the coach should continue disciplining his team so that they don’t concede goals in the dying minutes of the game. Zambia’s biggest problem still is the defense and midfield. When they score they don’t know how to defend the goal. There is still a lot that has to be done with the defense and midfield. I will emphasis on those 2 departments. Once we get that right, Zambia will be a force to reckon with.

  9. Faced with immense difficulties in football preparations, I can see that Zambian footballers especially strikers are moving ever closer to the implant of synthetic legs.
    Cheers boys………………………………………………….

  10. As usual its all the same sembe ti na tenga…….sembe ana longa. It does not make sense it leave out your country’s top scorer for unknown reasons. We need strikers who are hungry for goals not just to be on the pitch. The coach shoud be serious with his selection of players. We have alot of good players in both Zed and Abroad.Hope the coach looks at the players he dropped.

  11. Boys you need to sharpen up in front,or else it will be the same old sad ending. And # 12 dont complicate things this is football not chess because every game has got its own terminologies

  12. No 12 naiwe 4get about english we were forced to learn it as a vehicle of communication so i say i had to put brakes on my trip you will know that i stopped. talk about soccer not english Zambia drew all nil not stalement mudala it will need me to look for the dictionary. easy does it.

  13. # 12 YOU can play to a scoreless draw or tie, a 1-1 draw or tie a 10-10 draw or tie and so on. What you need Conman is to go back to nightschool or mature age correspondence classes to get flush with the basic English ianguage and stop conning people about your intellectual capacity!

  14. For as long as we continue using recycled striker players we will continue drawing and losing. Its just the same as our politicians.the more we recycle the ,the more our economy shall slup down like that of Uncle Sam.

  16. Abena Zambia forgive me but this story is confusing for me. What is this Ivory Coast 2009 and first round qualifier against Angola on November 30? Are they new comeptitions? Or is Lusaka Times just trying to confuse its audience?

  17. Pity Zambia soccer team lost to morocco. But perhaps its a good thing we got a picture of how ‘far’ Renard has brought this team. Somebody in FAZ needs to put their foot down and call a spade a spade. Either Renard is relieved and Patrick brought back or atleast included on the technical bench. If no drastic measure is taken in the next 2 months I can assure the nation that Zambian players on the national team will watch 2010 from their living rooms just like a good number of the bloggers on LT. WATCH THIS SPACE! FAZ also need to pay special attention to the local league(i.e. coaches and standards) coz we have poor representation of players abroad. These are our biggest problems gentlemen.
