Nkana 0- Power Dynamos 2

Power Dynamos leaped from 6th to 2nd on the Faz Premier League table after a thorough 3-0  home win over Nkana in their big Kitwe derby played on Wednesday.

The Arthur Davies side completed a league brace in the derby over troubled Nkana this season whom they beat 1-0 away last June.

The win leaves Nkana, who returned to the top-flight this season after a four-year hiatus in division 1 north, still deeply bogged down in the relegation mire perched in 14th place and 3rd from bottom with two matches left to play.

Power secured the 3 points thanks to a brace courtesy of striker Elson Mkandwire with goals in the 41st and 57th minute.

Ex-Kitwe United midfielder Joseph Sitali sealed Powers home-win seven minutes after the hour-mark to see Fordson Kabole’s side move to 43 points and 4 points behind leaders Zesco United.

Green Buffaloes 0- Zanaco 1

Zanaco moved up to 4th place with a 1-0 away win over troubled Green Buffaloes in their Lusaka derby at Woodlands Stadium.

Winston Kalengo 33rd minute goal  secured Zanaco’s win.

However, Buffaloes will feel a little hard done by in this scrappy encounter after referee Wellington Kaoma strangely ruled out a clear 70th minute goal scored by Reuben Tembo from long-range for an infringement.

Buffaloes are 7th after Wednesdays defeat on 41 points with two matches left to play.

  1. What is this Zambian habit of going to a tournament with two goal keepers only? What if one is injured of fells sick. Than we have to play with no reserve goal keeper.

  2. Kalampa where are you heading to now? We need you in the premier league despite the violent behavior by your supporters. Job well done Power Dynamos. You should do the same to ZESCO in the cup final.

  3. I’m a nkana supporter. I just realised that they have been promoted to premier league…and before I know it.. they going back to Div One…sad indeed.

But I trust they will survive as one win will take them almost to number 9 as the table is congested.

  4. #12, You are mad, mukanzinkalako seriuos. ichimoona
cant you say anything sensible. Nkana, lets get atleast 3 pts from the remaining games.

  5. Thanx LT for this latest news on local soccer too bad for Nkana but i still see chance for even the last team green eagles to survive coz imagine how this league is? from # 9 to the bottom they ar all relegation threatened # 9 roan untd has 33 points and # 16 green eagles has 27 points so if all went good for # 16 wins all the remaining games the wud reach 33 points all the teams betwn #9 & #15 mase up the table wud change. this league either was tough or it was rubbish. Thanx LT and WATCH OUT FOR ZAMTEL FC. NIZAMUTUMILA

  6. Why is power leavin it until its too late evn last season ths s wat they did, ka revivor pa last wen the title s oredy taken now see wat u ve done to kitwe town?it wil b boring without a derby – Dinamo4lyf , ba ref plz save nkana lol

  7. Nkana need to appreciate the fact that they are a finished team. that coupled with unruly, kaponya like fans. Honestly, what do you expect? You reap what you sow. Kuya bebele. Back to division one,

  8. Warning to division one teams. Unruly fans are joining you next season. Start practising some insults for the challenges ahead of you. It’s not too late. Too bad guyz.

  9. I feel for u Nkana, but in as much as u needed the 3 points we also needed them just as bad, i hope u do well in the remaining games it would be bad for Kitwe without u in the Premier League.

  10. Nkana yalinaka!! Kuyabebele.. See you in Division 1. Hey Zesco,, here we come. Malaiti yeke yeke face to face..Its power the Champs

  11. See you Nkana in 2011..Mwapya ba Zesco..please lekeni tuteyeko Club Champions league. Zesco and G/Buffaloes, you are ever first to be knocked out. Twesheko Power now

  12. I hear Ballack from Chelsea will not be playing for four years starting from 20th June 2009. He is going to America to become president and has already started making appointments.

  13. Inshimbi ni nshimbi KALAMPA ! d… d… KALAMPA !!Guys dont write off Patrick Phiri ( unless its against cameroun ) he will definetely get them out of relegation as he is one of the best strategists in the country when it comes to such situ’s

  14. #9 rite on; and surprisingly not many people realise that MMD is responsible for our poor performance even in sports, and this is in general.Since the MMD came into power ‘struggling’ has has been the name of the game.Who ever imagined ZESCO United could be football champions?

  15. I am not a Nkana supporter but to all Kalampa supporters have faith that you might survive. The league is tight. LT you make my day, the comments posted on articles sorry to say this are more interesting to read than the actual article.

  16. Number 39 u are very right, in 1995 i remember watching Mwape Miti at Arther Davis stadium Score five goals against ZESCO, the result was 8-2 in favour of Power, by then they had not Started Dismantling ZCCM.I also remember watching Brave beat ZESCO 4-0 at Nchanga Stadium. I miss those days when playing games against the likes of Angola, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Senegal etc was a foregone conclusion (victory in favour of Zambia).

  17. Devil Devil !! how sad my team once again wallows in a relegation zone !! when the mines were “the mines” mgt. pulled out the stops to ensure the divisional team did well….there were even appreciable increases in production at divisions whose teams were doing well!!On the Monday after Nkana had walloped a team..morale at every shaft was sky high and production figures showed it!!What a pity the new owners haven’t learnt this “fairly” cheap way of boosting morale.I don’t quite think spending $1million on a divisional team would harmthe balance sheet too much given the increased benefit of production and high morale.Maybe ZRA could give a tax allowance to firms sponsoring sports teams??
