The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) says the mass demonstrations over the high cost of mealie meal prices being organised by the opposition Patriotic Front were uncalled for, as they could lead to political instability in the country.
ZCTU Acting Secretary General Ian Mkandawire said it was not necessary for the Patriotic Front and other people to hold mass demonstrations over the problems confronting the nation, as such issues could be resolved through dialogue.
Speaking when he addressed members of the Press in Kitwe today, Mr. Nkandawire said there was need for the Government to re-establish the inter-party dialogue, in order to reduce the current tension between the ruling Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD)  and other opposition political parties in the country.
He further said the planned demonstrations  were a result of lack of dialogue between Government and the various  opposition political parties, a development which he said could lead to Political instability if not checked.
Mr. Mkandawire additionally called on Government to initiate the re-establishment of an effective inter-party dialogue, in order to curb unnecessary suspicions and mistrust and instead promote an exchange of progressive political and economic ideas and tolerance.
He said ZCTU believed  that the re establishment of the  inter party dialogue was the only effective way which could help resolve the problems prevailing in Zambia.
1!!! :d
Banakupasa zingati Mkandawire?
Moni Sony Ericsson, wauka bwino? You beat me again.
he he nauka bwino blaza, nanga imwe
Its the only way to wake up the sleeping goverment who never cares about the welfare of its people. They are so quick to condemn but are doing nothing to address the ever rising food prices, not to mention the severe hunger which has hit most rural areas.
demo the only way out :d/
people just want to be paid for talking, shame
ZCTU is slowly but surely becoming extremly irrelevant as a workers’ mouth piece. If anything, they are preety much a govt organ now. Chasalako is for RB to start appointing the ZCTU President. After all, the Presidents powers are endless. Ba Mkandawire, Yaba.
What dialogue???? Dialogue = allowances! who are you fo..ol..ing????? :o)
Na neo nauka a Sony…manje these people ba nidabwisa ayini. Yesterday they were talking about Human Rights, lelo ati No demonstrations, ni yabwanji?
Tiza Vivuka. The demo will act as a wake up call to this govt.
How do you dialogue when others have had a full breakfast and others have just had a glass of contaminated water in the morning? Time for dialogue is long gone. Its time to protest and show them that we are not happy. Talema please.
HIKAUMBA HAS JUST TASTED WHAT IT IS TO BE IN GOOD BOOKS WITH THE GOVT. HE IS CHEWING WITH THEM VIA THE NCC, SO DO NOT BE SUPRISED NOW THAT ZCTU IS A GOVT MOUTH PIECE. DEMOS ARE A TENET OF DEMOCRACY AND ITS TIME IAN AND THOSE GOOD FOR NOTHING IN ZCTU UNDERSTOOD. WHY CAN’T THEY ALSO COME OUT AND STATE THE POSITION AND HELP ZCTU HAS FOR THE NATION AS REGARDS HIGH MEALIE MEAL PRICES. THEY CAN NOT EVEN FIGHT FOR A DECENT PAY AND NOW THEY ARE BLINDLY DEFENDING GOVT. WE ARE IN FOR A ROUGH RIDE WITH THESE PRETENDERS I CAN ASSURE YOU GUYS.
I am a staunch PF supporter buit these demonstrations are a waste of time. We should look at advising the govertment on how we should reduce these prices if we in PF have a solution rather than taking to the streets.
I also thisnk that we in PF should be looking at 2011. We should also focus on holding elections at all levels of party organs. There was connfusionduring the last elections bcause of office bearers who had put themselves in position of leadership when they were incompetent and an offshoot of MMD
ZCTU has no mandate to say this, the vast majority people are unemployed or not unionised
#14
How many times has the goverment been advised?? several! but they dont listen [-x! so taking to streets is the only solution.
#I4 Alangizi, with due respect, we are not interested in reading about PF right now. Kubwela Njala and there you are talking about elections in PF? This has nothing to do with political parties and their governance issues. We are saying, time has come to make our voices heard, and the best way is to demonstrate. If people in Thailand did it, we can also did it. 😮
:-w
VIVA DEMO,VIVA PF!!! TELL US WHEN ARE THE DEMOS THEY ARE LONG OVERDUE. WE ARE WAITING.
17 Ba Moze..You have my support. Demos should be backed and nobody will crush them because the masses have suffered for so long. Let’s hit the road Comrades regardless of our political affiliations.
ZCTU is has full blown AIDS.VIVA COSATU
To make matters worse RB puts George Mpombo at Defence…just how do you put a hot-head like Mpombo at such a sensitive ministry? Whenever Mpombo barks a lot of Zambians feel like hit the road immediately. His comments are so provocative and child-like just like Gaston Sichilima. They are so insensitive to the cries of the general populace.
#17 Ba Moze. Are you telling mee that if we in PF had won the elections there would have been no price increase in mealie meal. Think Iwe!!
in as much am not a supporter of sata, our leaders in zambia do not listen wen pipo are idle.wats wrong with a peacefull demo,to date nothing constructive has been brot up over the high mealie meal prices.shud it take soldiers like in zimbabwe to go on the streets, no ways.demos are all over the world and its one way in which pipo express thier feeling.if pf are for a peacefull demo, let them go for it.
#20 Mukelabai, cheers. Even, Historically, demonstrations have been used around the world to show discontent over issues affecting citizens, and we, as a country are no exception. I mean, it has happened here before, so i personally don’t understand what ZCTU and..of course Mpombo (is this his real name mwebantu?)are talking about. Let Mpombo (awe sure) dare stop it. He has another thing coming. [-x
#23 Alangizi, price increases would probably have been there, but the difference here is that MMD lied to us. Sata did not mention anything about reducing or increasing mealie meal prices, did he? Now back to the topic at hand baba, I say viva peaceful demonstrations. If you didn’t know, its your right ka?
23 Alangizi..It’s you that needs serious thinking? Just how do you expect the masses to react when during campaigns you cheated them with fake reductions? You raised the people’s hopes and aspirations with lies. So don’t even draw PF in your shallow argument. Yes! Had PF or UPND won they would have allowed demos on top of honestly explaining the current global trends. But RB and MMD increased their salaries at a time when food prices where sky-rocketing, so what do you expect? Reactionary views..No tactic at all.
ZCTU has been compromised. By the way where is Lundani because he is very quiet. He needs to be awaken by protests otherwise he will continue sleeping. These guys on top are enjoying alot such that they dont seem to care about the poor.
Alangizi wish you could leave up to your name. Surely, what justification does this government have in gagging the people’s views? Let the people speak please…if they know that they haven’t been caught on the wrong side of events why be so sacred of the people’s voice? When there time to speak came, they did so during campaigns full of lies. So now is the time for people to express their discomfort in whatever peaceful means they deem necessary. Don’t treat the citizens like they are UNZA mocks and momas pushing for meal allowances No! These are tax-payers with families to look after. You want to turn the whole country into a military BARRACK full of endless threats.
Alangizi please understand one thing: Even dialogue has a limit, especially when it involves peoples lives. Never, and i mean Ever, take peoples’ lives for granted. An angry person is capable of doing anything, and it is beacause of our passiveness that this govt thinks they can manipulate us anyhow and anytime. I say NO. time has come to show them otherwise.
#29 Viva Ba Mukelebai. I am too sure RB has realised that his goose is cooked
28..Apparently, I have noticed that RB is one useless SLEEPY opportunist. He is always sleeping. Wish he could think more like everybody else as he sleeps. But for him it appears he becomes more dull whenever he wakes up. What sort of a leader opts to remain silent when a lot is happening globally and regionally? Apa peve ma Zambians tina lakwa..if its in UEFA this is what they describe as BAD BUY. Wish we could just take him to Switzerland for assisted SUICIDE!;)
No one can manage to advise the MMD because they think they know everything and besides they dont want to be considered failures.
Aba ama guyz bena balesalula ati shani. No way are we sick and tired of being led by a government of useless individuals with no foresight.Demos are the only way out,the masses are in abject poverty with nothing,i mean nothing to eat.Viva patriots.Tired of dialogue with no fruit.
Alangizi ~X( Sonny:d,ba Moze8-x, Rashid:-@, BabyC;;)
Hikaumba and team have to be chucked out of ZCTU.They are not the voice of the workers. They are their own voices.I can hardly believe that Zambia has been turned into George Orwell’s animal farm.
No 14 please, how long have you been a ZAMBIAN? The Zambian Govt has no time to listen to people like you and me. No. 15 BRILLIANT IDEA and No. 19 GOOD POINT. Ba ZCTU ma rabbish ya bantu.
Immediately the demos start, the so called police officers……the starved police officers, army officers etc will be sending their relatives in support, not forgetting the MMD cadres who are starving and UPND cadres. The list is endless. Even some government officials will be sending their relatives.
FELLOW ZAMBIANS THE PEACEFUL DEMO IS A WAKE….UP…..CALL for government. The rest will come later. VIVA demo 😮
When is the demonstration kanshi pa pf, twanaka , really enough is enough.
Hikaumba and team have to be chucked out of ZCTU.They are not the voice of the workers. They are their own voices.I can hardly believe that Zambia has been turned into George Orwell’s animal farm by these morons.
Baby C >:)
We shall demonstrate! We did it in 1986 on the CB when KK’s UNIP was insensitive to sky-rocketing prices of food. We continued to demonstrate while at UNZA and in 1990 shock KK until we unseated UNIP in 1991. We shall do it AGAIN. History surely does repeat itself. You shall see all you MMD stooges!
I remember meeting Hikaumba for the first time…he was one frail and shabby looking labour leader from Mongu. He wore something which resembled a SUIT…I say so because I was at pains to make something out that attire and its colour was between black and brown. I think it was black when it was ‘NEW’. I have written ‘NEW’ because am doubtiful if he could afford a new suit that time. What am I saying, “HIKAUMBA HAS EASILY FORGOTTEN HIS HUMBLE ROOTS.”
Interesting comments guys. So impressed with you. Very educative and positive especially Ba Moze and Mukelabai.
This thing called Baby C, what is it? Time waster
Let’s approach the issue of demos with a lot of caution. Can we trust PF cadres to stage a peaceful demo? Some of these demonstrators are outright thieves without the sincerity to confess to their true needs and the planned demos will just give them an opportunity to loot. While the common man will be demonstrating and getting injured, Sata, Lubinda and the rest who are advocating the demos will be safe in their air conditioned offices. Add injury to hunger what do you get?
What Zambia misses the most right now is a loud mouthed Finance Minister like Magande to continuously remind the nation what we are headed for. Both RB and his Minister at Finance are just good at sleeping.
Mukelabai, the day of reckoning draws nearer. Its just a matter of time and even Hikaumba will be history. Today the chap has put on wait at the expense of his fellow workers who are suffering. Lindilani, We are just waiting for the word to take to the streets. hikaumba is nothing but a tiny grain of rice in a 90kg bag of rice. Enjoy while you can hicks. You will be held accountable soon.
Continued from 42….I am not done with Hikaumba (ZCTU President). The next time I saw him after my Mongu encounter. The walking, frail and shabby looking labour leader from Mongu was driving a Mercedes Benz that was offered to him at a give away price by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Am sure this should tell you a lot about a person’s character and priorities…how can somebody who never even owned a Toyota Corolla from Japan get a Mercedes Benz as his first car? He is a polluted mind already. It explains why ZCTU speaks like they are students on Mulongoti and Tetamashimba. I rest my case.
:-$[-x:^o>:/:-t
44 Daisy…This is not time for those misguided partisan rebuffs. This is not about PF or UPND. So spare us your corrosive hatred for PF and SATA. Hunger knows no political affiliation…can’t we just do something right and in unison as people of a common soil- Mother Zambia. We will never achieve meaningful progress as country if affiliation is what comes first in our minds whenever we are about to rescue our country from the doldrums misery. Cadreship belongs and remains at Lusaka International Airport to welcome and send-off RB not here. Here we need progressive suggestions and contributions not hate speech and stoogie elements or MMD functionaries.
ZCTU deserves nothing less than mass mobilization for affiliate unions to de-link themselves from them or simply suspend their remittances so that we can see how those rascals will survive.
#49, this is where we seem to be having a major problem;Peoples’ inability to distinguish cadrerism and patriotism. Hunger knows no political affiliation and the quicker all peace loving Zambians realise this the better. I say, peace loving, because hunger has the propensity to ignite violence. Again, the quicker and sooner we realise and accoept this as a fact, the better for all Zambians.
#40
>-)or:@)=:):-&. By the way, wachokela kuti???here we first post comments and later on start jokes. The people concerned are all quite unga chakubaba shanin???
#43
You also dont you have anything better to do apart from posting rubbish???? :-@ your face!
I have a question for everyone here and i need honest answers…..
The Federation of Free Trade unions headed by Joice Nonde is more relevant to-day as a mouth-piece for the poor than ZCTU. Hikaumba, nets K18m per month at NCC- do we need to be rocket scientists to know that he can not dare even to THINK about biting the finger that’s feeding him!! However, this demo is not for ZCTU- if they want they can go to sleep like thier master RB. We shall go ahead and make our voices be heard. ABASH DOCILITY! That’s why foreigners come to Zed and say Zambians are good – they actually mean that Zambians are docile because they accept ill-treatment not only from foreigners but from their own govt as well. ABASH DOCILITY! VIVA PEACIFUL DEMOS!!
49 Bo Mukelabai
I have no bone to chew with Sata or any other person let alone any political party. My mention of Sata is simply coz he’s the loudest on the issue as if if he won the election, he would have abated the situation overnight.
We will demostrate on a single day and do you think the Govt will reduce the mealie meal prices soon after the demos? It will take time whether or not we demonstate. You write alot of sense. I would advice you to take the next flight to Zambia, and as soon as you tough down, go to MUVI TV and tell the nation.
#52 Baby C,I’m the one who should be asking kwamene wachokela iwe, because really, you dont impress me girlfriend. even your tuma so called comments lack substance. Its girls like you who give us women a bad name. How old are you anyway? You call those jokes? DISGUSTING.
Am in no way siding with the Govt but being realistic about what these greedy people can do and what they cannot.
Baby C, what’s your question? Bring it on sis, maybe we can help.
What boggoles my mind is why all the affliate unions are quiet. something is definately amiss here.
Good morning Baby C what’s the question?
#55 daisy, when we say Demonstration, we are not talking of one day. I thought i should help correct the impression
Baby C..or whatever your name is. You would do well to listen to some sisterly advice from Racheal. Frankly speaking, you have a big mouth. Racheal, You go girl.
Baby C, Rachael and Daisy, cool down ladies, no need to get personal on the blog. Let’s just blog maturely. Don’t let some silly comments distract you.
It is possible that some people come on this blog with frustrations and will start an argument with anyone with the motivation to provoke their anger. Just put them on ignore. Some people don’t deserve even a commenting space on this blog.
Allow peaceful demonstrations. If they turn violent, let the law enforcers handle it. That will give them something to do. We want peace, not lawlessness.
Probably Sata and his minions get a lot of gratification when people oppose the Govt and demonstrate. For him, such demos show how much the people of Zambia love PF. He’s not yet convinced that he lost the elections.
I have seen a blog where someone is saying we will demonstrate as we did in 1986. Are some of you guys aware that the 1986 Kitwe demos are the bloodest demos Zambia has had since independence where 26 people including 2 police officers died?
Sorry #63 Nine Chale, its just that this Baby C thing is interupting the smooth flow of meaningful comments on the blog. I’m prepared to call a truce as long as she bahaves herself. Sorry again.
People, wake up and condemn chaps calling for demos. It’s all thugs like Sata who can think like that. The food shortages and high prices are a world economic phenomenon which Sata and his Kaponyas can not understand. Its not only perculiar to Zambia but the world over. Yes, our government politicians are not committed to the nation except fattening themselves, but in this case, what do you achieve by sending the country into chaos other than further suffering to the ordinary people. You will create a situation where the DOLLAR is equal to ZK 6000 coz of political uncertainities. Wake up. Things will become more expensive.
#56 Racheal
Leave Baby C alone. You are the one who is giving us a bad name.
#66 Babie, no need to apologize. My inoucuous comment was simply that we all should not allow anyone to provoke us easily. LT is such a good thing and I hope we keep it good by being good to each other. No need for ‘slings and arrows’. One love to all…I’m out for now.
There is nothing wrong with demonstrations. It is one way of being heard. Just appealing to the peace loving Zambians that let the demo be a peaceful one so that the Government can immediately find lasting solutions to the Zambian problems especially on the sky rocketing prices of mealie meal. if that has to be subsdised let it be. [-(
Baby C we are waiting for your question
KK in 1990 failed to listen to the people now RB is making the same mistake
Racheal and babie (same person)
What have i done????If you are not happy with my comments, i would advise you to skip mine and read on something else.
You ve really suprised me ka! you are so petty. Mwalisungila akambala??
Fellow country men and women, honestly do you think that these so called leaders are saving the people’s interest? The answer is no! How can someone who claim to represent the worker claim not to know that the price of food is high? :d
No. 67. I am not really a PF member. Not all the people that voted for PF are kaponyas, mind you. Deep down your soul, you know that Sata won the elections The demonstration is not just about where you belong. Like I said earlier, immediately the demonstrations start, even you……….I repeat, even you, will benefit somehow. Whether its about Sata, HH, RB or whatever, demonstrations have to go on. They are even taking long PLEASE. The govt has to wake up.
People are demonstrating everywhere on the globe. Why cant Zambia do it. The govt does not own us. We own the govt. The govt should listen and reason. It should not take people for granted.
Hi Baby C # 73
No. 72. Sonny Ericsson Phiri: I am glad you still remember. What happenned in 1990 shall happen again…… very soon.
Baby C, Uulufyenye ni webo. All am saying is behave on the blog. ulimwanakashi ngaine. its over.
Ladies. can you leave Baby C alone. she is one of us. Munensu. I appreciate her comments. Baby C, You rock.

Dont compare the times are different. In KK’s time it was a commandist economy controlled by Government. We had price controls all prices were fixed by Government. This is now a liberalised economy with market forces at play. Government’s only invention role is to increase the availability of one or more resources in order to bring down the price of a product.
So when you demostrate who are you demostrating against ? is it the millers or the retailer or indeed govenment.
#80 Golyati the giant beaten by David with a stone
Times are heading back to that direction… UNIP :)>-
Help me guys!!
I ve noticed that each and everyday on this blog, there just some bloggers you are so bent in bringing my name into ridicule, especially those who are unheard of. Its always babyc this, babyc that, babyc there and so forth.
I would like to know if at all you ve got a problem with me, maybe i can switch to the watch dog!
#42 YOU RIGHT ON THAT ONE. TRUE TO ALL THE SO CALLED LABOUR LEADERS .ONCE GIVEN THE BROWN ENVELOPS THEY FORGET THEY ARE THERE TO SPEAK FOR THE POOR PEOPLE(WORKERS AND SO ON)

Hey you! where were you??? missed you big time
#79 Ba Moze
Thanx! you are such a darling!
#84 Baby C. anytime my dear. we know each other here. Sitifuna kuti sokoneza. Dont worry about little tarts.
You guys who are planning to demonstrate, ever heard of the new term on the block going by the words ‘Global Financial Meltdown’. I would advise you google the term above and see how it applies to you as PF and all those wishing to demonstrate. Maybe, just maybe, you may reconsider your, sorry for lack of a better term, F.O.O.L.I.S.H decision to demonstrate.
Baby C, don’t take it too personal and don’t let your virtual personality be affected too much by your virtual detractors. Keep on blogging…..you too Babie and Rachel. No need to run away to the Watchdog or other blogs
Iam now only interested in fighting for Zambians. dont fight each other or point fingers at each other, let us fight this sleepness and cowardness in Zambia. Baby c, You are too good to exchanging words with these small chaps. ignore them and lets fight iliteracy that some people seem to have. Demos will work for Zambia
Sony Ericcson 2-band radio
This is not time for directionless demostrations, this is time for dialogue and proposal on how to get the prices down.
You like all PF cadres love common cheap solutions.
#89 you hold the minority view it seems
Kwena you personalizing things. Ba Moze ati shani? Ati you know each other here? LT has become personal? Just learn to be accommodating. Not everyone sees things the way you do so not every one will agree with you. The problem with women is they easily get emotional. They are not more than four here but they are already having a go at each other. You wonder when we will have the next woman president cause I can assure you no fellow woman will vote for her.

Alpha male, you are the one who is getting personal here..I mean, did you really have to send the same message twice(9I & 92)? I think i got the message the first time. as for the ladies, you are not in position to judge them…going by your emotions. All the same, nice try. Keep blooging, Alpha male.

Oftentimes madness runs in the marjority while wisdom is with the minority.
#94 you should try to travel the world and broaden your horizons, people demonstrate, people challenge their governments, they don’t just sit and say boma ni boma what can we do
Ian Mkandawire, bushe ufola zingati? You are saying so ndaba RB akupasa brown envelopes every month. Nosense!!!
Demonstrating for what? Just use that energy, time and frustration to either farm or if you are lazy like me and cant farm, continue working hard earning your living in your office. Oh tell me something, maybe I don’t understand the gist and logic behind the demonstrations, what happens when we finish demonstrating? We will find the prices automatically reduced?

Traveling, traveling kuti?.Dont you know that people demostrate for just causes and only when there is no alternative.First they must engage, dialogue and if that fails picket then demostrate.
Please offer proposals on reduction of food prices intead of just demostrating. One of these days you PF fellows will demostrate against Government against poor rainfall.
#99 Golyati the fallenn giant nalema manje on this subject… Under the laws of Zambia, people have a right to demonstrate, period.
WE ARE WAITING FOR THE DATE OF THIS PEACEFUL DEMONSTRATION.IT HAPPENS EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD JUST TO ECHO A POINT TO THE GOVERNMENT.SO DONT BE SCARED.I FOR ONE WILL TAKE PART ESPECIALLY AFTER READIND ABOUT THE DEATH OF INNOCENT BABIES AT UTH.THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD HEAR IT FROM US NOT JUST FROM PF LEADER.ITS ABOUT THE WHOLE NATION.IMAGINE RATS EATING BABIES,LACK OG GENERATORS IN HOSPITALS LEADING TO DEATH,JOB LOSSES ON THE INCREASE,MEALIE MEAL PRICES TOO HIGH,HUNGER IN CHOMA & OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY NOW CHOLERA HAS INVADED MAZABUKA.WHAT IS GOVT SAYING?

I challenge you to be the first one to come down here and demostrate instead of inciting innocent ignorant kaponyas from afar.
Come here and try it. I am sure you will test the wrath of the mobile unit from kamfinsa in Kitwe. They will slap the hell of your funny ideas out of your head. I dare you to come and test them
#102 that’s rather threatening. As for “innocent ignorant kaponyas” I doubt they have internet access, so I doubt I’m inciting them. If it makes you happy to think about police slapping people then go ahead, you’re a twisted sick person
And I challenge you to go and explain to the “innocent ignorant kaponyas” why they should not demonstrate.
Thanks Ba Moze, the number of posts I made previously is in no way proportional to my being personal, No. Its just that I noticed a grammatical error in my post and so tried to stop my browser from sending my comment in order to edit it, unfortunately LT is so fast nowadays, so my submission had already been committed. By the time I was submitting my edited one, LT submitted two. As for the women this is not a place for nagging and gossip. Just go about your contributions don’t mind detractors you are on the internet and its free to contribute so expect all sorts of responses don’t cry foul.

Our dear hardworking ba Kaponya,
Your Govenment is CONCERNED with the skyrocketing price of mealie meal.To this end Government has immediatly instructed FRA to release to the millers every month until march, maize at a cheap price. In January Govt will also reduce the price of fuel, including heavy fuels which is used for running the mills. Your govnt has also engaged the association of millers in order to consult on further actions of reducing on your staple food. With this intervention in the input costs of mealimeal Govnt is confident that the price will reduce to preelection levels.
We thank you.
#49 Mukelabai; you wsay this is not about Sata. Did you know that it is Sata calling for the demos?
Golyati I mean actually go out to Lumumba bus station and tell them yourself and see who gets slapped… You’re really just saying “we are government and you be quiet”. Dictator
#72 Sony Ericsson Phiri; You say KK in 1990 failed to listen to the people and now RB is making the same mistake. Tell me how to bring down the price of mealie meal so that I in turn tell RB. If he does not listen then you can demonstrate- before then concentrate on thinking of workable solutions.
#90 Sony Ericsson Phiri; you accuse others of holding the minority view- Did you know that over Two thousand triliion flies eat s.h.i.t. but i would still rather eatwith the minority?

Our dear honorable ba kaponya are very busy making a living on the street to bother about demostrating. It is you and people like Micheal Sata for your personal interests who want to incite them to demostrate. Please you are honourable Sata are invited to come and lead the domstrations…The best players are always in the crowd.
#100 Sony Ericsson Phiri; you say under the laws of Zambia the people have the right to demonstrate period- Did you know that we have the right of movement but that does not allow you to stand on my toes?
#77 Mopao Mokonzi, you say what happenned in 1990 shall happen again and very soon- Did you know that in 1990 demos led us to remove the evil government of KK for us to replace him with that little devil? What was that from the frying pan into the fire?

Zambia is a geat country, lets us all unit as one. If its in the interest of our Republic to protect its citizens, then let it be implemented.
#118 and 119 Sony Ericsson Phiri; You ask if I am a fly? Evidently you take things too literally and cannot appreciate metaphors and simile. Explains a lot aboutyour blogs. What I was saying is elementary and simply that the majority are not always right. Can I put it any simpler?
No. 116The more govt is trying to make the call for PEACEFUL demonstrations an issue, the more the demonstrators are getting angrier. In other words, govt is pissing them off. Facts are facts my dear. These things are very stubborn things.
One other fact is govt knows that the PEACEFUL demonstrations will attract alot of attention. Ofcourse shops and other business houses will have to be closed. It should even be declared a public holiday so that most of us that are affected can demonstrate……..PEACEFULLY.
Govts only fear is that it will definetly, and I am positive, it will attract masses……and not only kaponyas as you call us but all Zambians who are affected.
I can assure you, the more we delay, the spicier it will become.
Rashid Jones, I have always liked your contributions. Please continue. You are actually hitting the nail on the head. We, Zambians are so…………….
God bless Zambia
#123 Sister; Are you aware that the Father Bwalya demonstrations enterred shops that had been closed? Government is responsible for safety of everyone even if it is one sole trader. By the way I have never called you or anyone a “Kaponya”. Wonder why you let that thought stray into your head?
#124 Sister; it is ironic that you want God to bless Zambia with demos.
#125 point of correction, those were not demonstrations but riots. And your use of metaphor is flawed, if you were a minority fly who didn’t like to eat that, it would work. Since you are not a fly, the comparison is senseless…
Zambians are cowards. That is why they like my sweets. The are son lazy and their cowardice is unbelievable.
It is good though. Makes MMD rule again and again!
Ho Ho Ho.
Ah Father christmas good to see you again
leonard hikaumba earns k18 million per month from the NCC. hungry workers are no longer on his agenda.
TWANYAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!DICKSON JERE APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVISER TO RB. THIS GUY RUNS EXECUTIVE ISSUES NEWSPAPER AND FORMER REPORTER FOR POSTNEWSPAPER.SHAME!
Hikaumba is not the person who made the comment but someone else who is not earning K18 million a month. I believe some people do not want war.
Number 127 Sony Ericsson Phiri. The whole point is that us peace loving Zambians do not want a protest which turrns into a demonstration which then turns into a riot. Listen to what your alter-ego is telling you. Reflect on your statements before you make them. Your alter-ego is just emphasising that if you are the majority you are not necessarily right. The mob freed Barabas instead of Jesus but that did not make them right.
Lusaka Times this is not fair. What wrong have i said? No insult, others insult but you dont keep their comments on awaiting moderation. Please remove my comment, I dont mind but i feel his is not fair.
Leonard Hikaumba is not part of the workforce but the govt.Imagine if Chiluba was like him, civil servants wouldn’t have been paid increments during KK govt.Chiluba refused to circum to KK. LH is toothless, brainless and the most corrupt ZCTU leader Zambia has produced. Shamenda told off Chiluba when he became president.
# 14& 97 What part of the universe do you live in? Demonstrations are not PF. HP or UNDP it is just part of democratic process. 14 was it jst few days people in UK were demonstrating at the Airport against the third runway and more than 100 flights were cancelled.
97 why is crime so high in SA? Too much suffering among black people.
Kenya just the same, certain areas
contd: are no go area. If you are dressed smart people will be asking for money if you don’t give them they will smare with faeces.
They want to share the national cake with those in govt or proper jobs. People want to demonstrate to highlight their displeasure
Golyati has resurfaced.
Golyati uwamafoni yamalaiti. Ho Ho Ho!
were is my comment? i didnt wats wrong?
I hope everyone knows that the global financial crisis is affecting all countries.
Food prices are going up everywhere.
Now, in Zambia we want to solve it by demos.
Look at our friends in western countries where there is meaningful opposition parties.
They come up with workable solutions and suggest such to the government.
They dont just tell govt “you do something or we demonstrate”, No.
But here in africa, we think that opposition is meant for confusion.
Shame!
I have also read people here saying “MMD promissed to reduce mealie after being elected, but now the price is going up.”
We need to understand that the ecomic enviroment before elections was very different from what it is now.
The fall in copper prices has greatly affected our economy, and dont we behave like we dont see this.
Some of you guys if you were a lady who was promissed marriage, even after the guy has died you would still insist that he marries you because he promissed to marry you.
Fine, tell this to a person who did not have a meal yesterday. You are saying so because your tummy is full. Possibly the financial crisis facing GM, Ford and other giants in the US as not even touched Zambia but people are blaming their ineptitude to such. How does the grain harvest earlier this year be affected by the financial crisis of the US so early? That means the grain is somewhere because of financial problems. But that is not the case.
Fine #139, Just to add to your contributions, MMD PROMISED to reduce the prices when voted into power, they didn’t GUARANTEE. There is a difference. All those making noise about MMD’s promises before elections, show me where MMD signed to say they will reduce the prices. How many people promise you money and end up not giving you? MMD’s promises where based on the assumption that the economy wouldn’t plunge further down as it has. If you promise your son a bike do u keep the promise even after you have been kicked out of employment just because you promised yet you cant even afford rentals. Be real with you analysis gentlemen.
This Golyati guy,is one sad little fella who likes pushing the senseless and directionless agenda of MMD and RB.You such a bully. The government through FRA has a duty to put in an effective policy system on maize storage, distribution, management and also be able to create a reserve or stockpile which should be released onto the market when conditions become volatile like is at the moment. Why should this government seek for solutions from the opposition when they campaigned on the premise of a better life for all.Let this government offer solutions.Belaikala fye nokunya amasushi.
Some analyses,kaya??????
See guys, forget the global economic crisis and all.The only reason the price of mealie meal has gone up is just got to do with demand and supply.Right now,Zambia needs to import about a 100,000 Metric tonnes of maize from SA.Wherever the millers are looking to for the maize is expensive,so that cost is being passed onto the consumer. The only thing government(FRA) didn’t do was to stock up and create a resevoir.
Dialogue to me is not progressive!!look at Zimbabwe and “dialogue” where has it taken them!!:-@For donkey years Zambians have been taken for a ride, and have allowed it to happen, from ALI BABA CHILUBA AND HIS THIEVES,to LPM and his story but its time things like this started happening, imagine how bad it is for the guy in Kanyama,Kalingalinga etc,at least they can be heard through this action,Its time Zambians got serious about their country, its not only about MOSI NA CASTLE**==
all the minister and president have no vision for the nation .
tomtom
#139, 142 I THINK YOU TOO HAVE dirrarea of the mouth. ITS BETTER YOU SHOUT UP…………MWE!
I MEANT DIARRHOE of the mouth cos no serious perso can utter such comments when majority of Zambian people are struggling. It seems either you are a beneficiary of MMD.
