Demonstrate positive attitude towards work – Chisanga

Share

Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Elijah Chisanga has called on civil servants in the country to demonstrate a positive attitude towards work.

Mr. Chisanga says this is because the civil service is the engine of government whose effective input is needed in enhancing both social and economical development.

He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Lusaka District Commissioner , Christah Kalulu, during the burial of Lusaka District Administrative Officer, Douglas Kalimanzila, who died on Christmas Day at Chelstone Clinic.

Mr Chisanga urged civil servants to be dedicated to duty and be ready to put more in assisting the government spearhead its development agenda.

He described the late Kalimanzila as a loyal and hardworking person as evident by his recent promotion to district administrator ,the position he held until his death.

Earlier, during the requiem mass held at Chelstone Catholic Church, Assistant Parish priest father Anthony Baranuiskwi urged the late’s family to mourn the late Kalimanzila with hope and urged them to find solace in God.

Father Baranuiskwi said although death is a mystery, the family should not despair but look and draw solace and strength from God as he is the author of life.

The late Kalimanzila ,50, is survived by a wife, Febby and five children.

  1. Ahhh i did not realise i was number 1 for the first time on this block! And agin number 2!
Compliments of the season to all!

  2. as much as the sentiments in the permanent secretary’s speech are good i’m forced to believe it’s nothing more than a typical orbituary stuffed with lectures we’ve been hearing at every funeral.the guy wasn’t even there to read the speech himself!infact i have my doubts if he even wrote that speech! r.i.p to the deceased. :):):)

  3. ba elijah chisanga, you are a cut and dried cadre. do you remember the graffiti you used to splash across lusaka during the 2001 elections insulting nawakwi? we know you.

  4. true civil servants need to be serious.the attitude of the nurses in govt hospitals and clinics is utterly disgusting.it would be more helpful if they acted like they cared.you would wonder why they joined the profession in the first place if you their ppl skills suck.in many cases lives are lost due to negligence. when you go to most offices, OMG, you start to ask urself why u even bothered to leave your house.they take there sweet old time as if they want to show you who’s boss.sometimes being so rude as to not even acknowledge your presence.one thing they forget is that only when we change our attitude towards work, will we develop.

  5. “He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Lusaka District Commissioner , Christah Kalulu, during the burial of Lusaka District Administrative Officer, Douglas Kalimanzila, who died on Christmas Day at Chelstone Clinic.”

    Condolences to the bereaved family.

“Elijah Chisanga has called on civil servants in the country to demonstrate a positive attitude towards work,” this is welcome although the UPND’s Charles Kakoma already mentioned such some two days ago – so it sounds as if it has been uplifted though these could be your original ideas as no one has monopoly of thoughts.

  6. This Permanet Secretary of Lusaka called Mr Chisanga, should not beat about the bush but just go to the point. The most irresponsible civil servant zambia has is Nyama Soya or Rupiah Bamba.
Rupiah Bamba knows he is suppose to be at work but is busy loafing at Mfuwe. Mr Chisanga be brave, like Muteteka and tell Rupiah Bamba to change his attitude towards work for a better mother zambia. Bamba should not give his pay as an excuse for loafing as he recently got a hefty pay rise.

  7. maestro we don’t need photocopies of parts of the article or other peoples comments!can’t you just write your contributions?if you were a gun you’d be ‘pembela n’sokele’ because you are always pulling back on the article after every sentence!

  8. The general work culture in zambia is terrible. people report late for work ,spend the first 20mins updating each other on prevoius evening activities, then make a foncall.re apply make up, by the time they start serious work its time for lunch and get an early lunch as tho its not enaf they come back late, work alittle make fon calls by the time the call is over its 4pm and start packing in readiness to go home.4.30pm out of the office and very tired yet nothing to show someone has really been to work.no wonder it takes a year to process anything in Govt offices.the supervisers are even worse they just dont report for work, ba bombela pa cell fon. God help zambia

    10. your flag donya donya, I can’t and we certainly can’t be same all of us. You can overlook my comments if this issues bothers you so much for I will not stop doing such.

  10. Yes, it is true civil servants must at all times be dedicated to duty but this must begin with Nyama Soya himself like KCM has clearly put it. I can be a happy person if you(Elijah) will come in open and tell your Boss Nyama Soya, to be committed with work at plot one. He don’t deserve a break at the moment coz the country is in shambles.
