Mbesuma Returns For Zambia

Share

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Collins Mbesuma has been drafted into the Zambia team to bolster the strike force for Tuesday’s friendly international match away to South Africa that will be played at Super Stadium in Pretoria.

Zambia has been left threadbare in attack after Roger Kola and Given Singuluma opted out of the friendly match to conclude deals and attend trials respectively in Europe last week.

The match is expected to be Mbesuma’s first return to the team since September 10, 2008 when he featured in Zambia’s 1-0 win over Togo in a 2010 World cup qualifier played at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.

First choice goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene including his number two Kalilo Kakonje of Amazulu too have been called up.

Meanwhile, Tuesdays match will mark Renards 18th match in charge since taking over last May and he will be seeking his seventh international win with another five draws on record.

And South African coach Joel Santana will be hoping to mark a major milestone for a Bafana Bafana coach.

Should his side beat Zambia, victory for the hosts will mark the first time a South African coach has won five successive international matches.

The friendly will be South Africans first this year in a string over five build-up matches to their FIFA Confederations Cup hosting this June.

  1. Let us wait and see. It seem the coach has fallen back on Mbesuma after his first choice left for trials. How disappointing

  2. FAZ not involved in Mayuka saga
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says Kabwe warriors striker Emmanuel Mayuka’s transfer saga has been blown out of proportion.

FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya said at a news briefing that the Association is not involved in the transfer negotiations of players.

Meanwhile, Bwalya said the association will soon engage a technical director who will be responsible for recruiting players from the grassroot level.

Bwalya said the move is aimed at creating a pool of players who will be the future players of the National team.

  4. It is good that Mbesuma has been called up. Zambia is lacking the striking force, and young players are now big headed i dont want to mention chaps like Rogers Kola who has never impressed me in any way. Let him just remain out of the team, the coach should call Cliford Mulenga, but i dont know if he is still in SA.

  11. My young brother mbesuma, you once was at a pinnacle of glory kindly reclaim it.the world`s greatest achievers are people who fell and refused to stay on the ground forever

  12. Good morning everyone

It seems most of you are very bitter with Mbesuma. The problem with us Zedians, we like blaming and saying negative things about our players that is why we will never ever progress as far as soccer is concerned. We will be underdogs as long as we continue with negative comments like the ones most of you have posted.

    Think postive for one :-@

  13. Mbesuma coming is a good move but the question is,Will he give us what we need or he will just show of his skills with out giving us goals???? :((:((

  18. Mbesuma is in – KCM cant pay the Zambian Coach so he hasn’t travelled to SA. Where are we going…. May be we should forget soccer pa zed

  19. The problem with mbesuma he is dull he fails to book a place even at a smallest club like sundown. Zambia soccer yali kanafye kano boxing and modeling

  20. Zambai in turmoil, from NyamaSoya leadership, to FAZ, to Chipolopolo, to economy, to Mine closures. yaba. bane ubwafya no bwamba pa Zed bwakula.

  21. #51 my friend channel your efforts in flushing out that gang of whores who have ganged up in that beautiful town.they always dent the image of a town where ever they congregate.remember kapiri mposhi in the old days, chibombo, rainbow, serenje sigasiga.even if ones wife has gone to visit his relatives in these areas she will be mistaken for a whore by a truck driver.it’s a pity.so meanwhile as iam working on my fitness to join the national team and score goals which mbesuma and the like are not scoring.i’ll stay away from mabanga.

  22. Akapondo, maybe you might just entice me to watch the Zambian game. At the moment, I dont know any player even if I was to meet them in shoprite, I cant or wont recognise any of them.
So train hard.I also bought a small football for my two yr old son. He will join you in later yrs. The current players suck! Rememebr last time they feared Etó so much we lost 5 – 1 to Cameroon. Pantu tulaba.

  23. Ba mpangula mputyu,i won’t disappoint you.so as iam responding to your thread i’ve just finished doing 22 and half laps at sunset stadium so now after one hour iam going to chrisma hotel gym for two hours intensive training.i’ve even severed relationships with some of my pals because the were enticing me back to the counter.i want to put the name of mother zambia right where it belongs.imagine some years back if you go into Harare then and they here you are from zambia every one started to chant mbasela, mbasela, mbasela and all the cutes were on you
If you go to TZ just say am young brother to chikwalakwala you are done.
Nowdays you mention ati nchimunya mwetwa kukudabwa.

  24. Yaa! Guys let us not expect more from Mbesuma alone. Football is team work. If his midfielders wont functiom well and the defenders ninshi we will lose. I watch mbesuma at sundowns regularly he plays well. So futbo is a game of Team work period!!

  25. Echo twalushile Ba Zambia, 1 – 0, Modise scored. We have a fake coach, fake FAZ with the president running commenteries on Super Sport yesterday instead of watching ba zambia baluza bola iye but tulifipolopolo (nangu tuwine nangu tuluse – echo tushila)

  26. #6 supergal this is africa you can do what you like even cutn yo head off as long as you perform.came to jozi and meet some managers of companys i wil accomodate you my number +27730232344,dram8@gmail
