Zambian government denies hosting US secret Prisons

Government has maintained that Zambia has never hosted the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) secret prisons as reported by the international media

Clarifying reports in some sections of the international media, Defense minister George Mpombo told parliament in a ministerial statement that Zambia was not one of the countries with the secret US states.

He stated that Late Republican President Dr. Levy Mwanawasa had opposed the US plans to set up a base, the position which has never changed.

He said the article from the United Kingdom Guardian weekly issue of Friday , January 23 2009 was not true.

The Minister’s response follows a point of order that Patriotic Front (PF) Vice President Guy Scott which he raised over UK’s paper revelations of the CIA secret prisons existence in Zambia.

But US Ambassador to Zambia Donald Booth also denied the existence of the CIA prison facility or any similar entities in Zambia .

In a press release, Ambassador Booth said there had never been any such prison facilities in Zambia

First of all we all know what the CIA is and we know how they operate…..If they did infact open a facility like this in Zambia and did not want it known that’s exactly what would happen.No ordinary Zambian would know about it. And then…honestly, do we reaally expect our Government to own up to such a thing,not even the U.S Government would? Atleast not now. A common system,I mean a common culture, a common education system(now coming into reality),common medical policies,common military and police forces,common laws(one constitution)etc.In short having one government.This one government will never be.One country will be powerful over others but it will not form one government.Its like that,even in the jungle there is the most powerful animal.Today there are bilateral,trilateral and so forth relationships.But this is not globalisation.Having EU is not yet globalisation.Having one currency for USA,CANADA AND MEXICO IS NOT YET GLOBALISATION.

  166. zambians should be careful about the Bible.I don’t know why some people even think jesus is coming in 2012.Nowonder we can’t develop coz we think God will build us a city.we know God is there but the Bible was tempered with.Back home it was hard 4 me to understand why some people don’t go to church?Now i can’t say too much about it.christianity was just brought up by whites .If u read the history of Islam and christianity u’ll understand much.Therefore,i think whites have more information compared to us who didn’t know who jesus was.maybe we can talk about our old traditions.
