Increase Your Capacity to Receive

Share

Today’s Scripture

“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back…” (Isaiah 54:2, NIV).

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria

God has many blessings in store for you! He has favor in your future like you’ve never imagined. He wants to take you places you’ve never even dreamed of. But in order for us to partake of all these blessings, we have to increase our capacity to receive.

Think about this: if you have a one-gallon bucket, and someone has fifty gallons to give you, the problem is not with the supply. The problem is that you don’t have the capacity to receive the fifty gallons. But, if you get rid of that small container and get something larger, then you will be able to receive more. It’s the same way with God. If we think we’ve reached our limits, the problem isn’t that God doesn’t have the resources or the ability.

The problem is that our container is too small. We have to enlarge our vision and make room for the new things God has for us. Our attitude should be, “Yes, the economy is down, but I know God is still on the throne. I know wherever I go His goodness and mercy follow me.” When you have that kind of attitude, you’re increasing your capacity to receive so that you can live the abundant life He has in store for you.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, today I choose to increase my capacity to receive from You. I let go of limited thinking and old mindsets, and I open myself to everything You have in store for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

  1. The word of the Lord is food for the soul especially when you receive it in a spelified form and manner like this.May the great God bless you joel and victoria for standing on his behalf.
The Lusaka times may the good Lord favour you as you endevour to perform your duties. And to all on the blog,God will fight our battles..

  2. Much as I agree with the message, I think one should be careful to study the word in a wider context. I will outline an elementary aspect that I feel has been left out of the context:

AS SINNERS, WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO CLAIM GOD’S BLESSINGS.

For he said to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

So then, we need to realise that no matter how much we enlarge our capacity to receive, IF God withholds his blessings, our tents remain empty.
It takes spiritual maturity to accept both the good and the bad things in life.
“shall we receive good at the hand of God and shall we not receive evil?” Job 2:10

  3. This is just another texample of cherry picking a verse and twisting it’s meaning. Isaiah 54:2 is not talking about capacity to receive blessings. There is nowhere in that verse that talks about having small capacities and getting nothing. Read teh scripture for what it says don’t implant your man made doctrines into it . If you read the whole of Isaiah chapter 54 you will see that it’s taking about the future of tsiyon(zion) the kingdom of YHWH and what it will be entailed to them. It’s not talking about capacities. The bible was originally never written with verses it was written with chpaters so as people could read it as a whole not take a small part and twist it into your own doctr

  4. #7 Nine Chale,

I agree with you 100%. The word from joel is very powefull. Let us be ready to receive from Jehovah God. AS he word of God says whatever you will ask in my name the father will do. It is true brethren , however lets not mislead people by saying that what ever I pray for i will recieve and when One does not recieve does it mean he or she did not pray? No as chale as said believers must grow in faith..whether I receive or not it does not mean there is something wrong with. Its the will of God to give me or not to but I am commanded to pray always. There is a tendence among some pastors asking money from the flock so that they pray for them to receive prosperity. [-o<[-o<[-o<[-o<

  5. 11 conts,

That type of preaching is wrong and God sees from above. Did the Lord Jesus ask for money so he could pray for some body? Others preach gospel of prosperity..what canning? Does the Lord God promise prosperity or salvation in The Lord Jesus christ? should I believe so that I become rich? No bretheren, believing in the Lord Jesus is not for material prosperity but salvation prosperity. Whether rich or poor I have to believe in the Lord Jesus for salvation sake not that then God will make me rich in material things..no..but to make you rich in spiritual things. Let us preach the word with godly motives. ^:)^^:)^^:)^^:)^

  6. The stead fast love of the lord never seazes, his mercies never will come to an end, for they are new every morning.

Great is thy faithfulness ohh lord!

  7. It is said that the truth is like a lion. It is bold and determined. It requires no defence. It speaks for itself. Those who want to tell lies should learn this lesson and understand it well. It is very difficult to lie consistently. Lies are unnatural. They don’t flow but stand awkwardly when analysed honestly and sincerely
