Nchanga Rangers Demotion Confirmed, Lusaka Dynamos Survive

Share

Nchanga Rangers demotion from the Faz Premier League has been confirmed today by a Faz tribunal that sat to decide on their controversial survival.

The development means Lusaka Dynamos have survived their shock relegation after Rangers earlier won points in an appeal against Chambishi for using two unregistered players in a week 16 league game last season that finished 0-0 at Chambishi Grounds.

Chairman of the Faz tribunal Everisto Kasunga said at a press briefing today in Lusaka that the Faz appeals committee earlier erred in handing Rangers the points.

And so Rangers, who will be relegated for the first ever, officially finish in 13th on 35 points, losing two points off the 37 points they had won in their appeal, while Dynamos revert to 12th on 35 points but with a better goal difference.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ demotion tramp card Chambishi survive on 37 points in 19th place have also won their battle to clear the status of despite players Gerald Bwalya and Stephen Sakala.

Rangers allegedly claim Sakala and Bwalya were still their players and not free agents.

This was despite the duo being fired in the first half of the 2008 season and Rangers claimed that the Chingola club was entitled to a transfer fee for players they had dismissed as they were still registered with them.

  1. KCM must withdraw all the sponsorship and give the money to Nchanga Rangers so that they can come back to the premier league ASAP

  2. Sad to see Nchanga go down to the lower league.Hope they get back next year. It’s sad that they get to be demoted by a board room decision & not on the pitch.I hope the tribunal that sat considered everything and made the just decision & were not influenced by anything, especially after what Hanif had earlier said bout stopping sponsering the team if they r made 2 go down.If the judgement was in good faith then nice. But the current crop of soccer adminstrators leave much 2 be desired

  3. Elo bola isebene pa Z,a promising team like nchanga to be demoted to division one, then i have started having doubts about the future of zambian football, coz at first it was mufulila wanderers that started going under and now it is the neighbouring city team, rangers and copperbelt has always been a good nursery for national team players, but now i cant see this continueing

  4. Justice has been done. We all know that the earlier decision to award points to Nchanga Rangers was because Kalusha is a nephew to Nchanga Rangers’ vice chairman Jim Chongo. Nchanga Rangers must pull up their socks. Despite being one of the best sponsored sides in the league they “managed” to get demoted….Manjanja of course!

  5. These appeals and protests should be heard b4 the league ends. May 4 games b4 it ends so that teams knows their position properly or standings in the league.

  6. All apeals must heard within a stipulated time [say within 2weeks after apealing] and not to wait for the season to end. kalusha Bwalya and his coligues are proving to be very corrupt. This is the worst FAZ administration we have ever had.

  7. ba maureen even choma rangers, choma tiger, maugali stars…kabwe united. am very ignorant of who is even in primier league. wanderers where are they. kalulushi modern stars, mutondo stars.awe life che…nayo bola imasila monga muntu sure. but pa world manchester ikalipo..

  8. Sad for bravo. This just shows how the foootball,on the copperbelt has gone down.can you imagine nchanga, nkana and mighty in division one?ili bad.elo naya ama credit crunch nomba, yamo ama teams yalabolela mu division one.

  9. # 19 FAZ did nothing right, they messed up the league!!! The Tribunal are the ones correcting the mess!! Rememebr Kalu is related to one executive member of rangers, we speculate why he under-hand method used to save Rangers. But Rangers Kuya bebele. Elyo mu 1 yalikosa, they will be playing at markets bumpy grounds. yaba yakosa.

  10. Sad that the team I supported as a child (and still do, from a distance) is slowly fading into oblivion. I miss those days when we used to climb the wall (No money to pay entrance fees, rough childhood you know) at Gabitas stadium to watch peter mwanza, ignatius muswala (GK), benjamin bwalya, stone Nyirenda etc, terrorise visiting teams. We really are making giant steps backwards in our beloved Zambia.

  11. EGYPT 2-2 GHANA, CAIRO, NIGERIA 0-0 JAMAICA, LONDON. SOUTH AFRICA 0-2 CHILE, POLOKWANE. TURKEY 1-1 IVORY COAST, IZMIR. TUNISIA 1-1 HOLLAND. MOROCCO 0-0 CZECH REPUBLIC. CAMEROON 3-1 GUINEA. ANGOLA 0-4 MALI.

Sorry Folks if I bore you with the above results. But it is necessary to look at what other countries were doing 0n a FIFA sanctioned Football international friendlies. We pa Zed busy with Lusaka Dynamoes Vs Rangers demotion scandle.

  12. #20 Mpangula. I know the uncle(Mothers brother) to Kalusha. But this is not the first time they have done this except this time they have lost.1) They influenced the Chewe Lupili led FAZ to dissolve Railway Express who were no 5 from Bottom one above Nchanga. 2) They connived with the Micheal Chiti led FAZ to dock Kalulushi MStars in favour of Roan United. there is another case they won when Mr Milner was both at Nchanga and FAZ.

  13. #23 Deja Vu Thanks for your update. This shows Rangers, the once great team when they had Sinkala Brothers, Mutambo and benjamin Bwalya in their ranks, they were a terror. Now they are a sorry sad sight, even tana has fled from Rangers. Something not right. Richard Kazala the former D/Minister of Sports & one time boyfriend to Dora Siliya (current chairman of rangers) has failed to save them and himself from demotion. sad tale for rangers.

  14. Come wat may I feel futbo shud be won on the pitch, any player disputes must be sorted way b4 they kick the ball. Am a Brave Ranger 4life, it’s a bitter pill 2 swallow, tho not the end of the world. This, obviously spells a lot of doom 4Copperbelt socer.

  15. YEBO YESS!! Long over due. What did these guys want 2 do with Elite Dynamos. Let “Brave” deservedly sample division one soccer. :-w

#8 Ba Dr Maureen, on yo team list you forgot KALABO YOUNG REPTILES – Do you remember the team?:d/

#22 Mpangula Mputyu. ‘Walasa mani”. “Ifwe” instead of having a quality friendly we are all over with our “shorted” coach accepting that he was having a tough time coaching our team. And this “chima” FAZ Head is bussy in SA giving analysis of friendly games of other nations. Where to Zambia?[-(

  16. THIS HAS BEEN MY CHILDHOOD TEAM WITH LIVERPOOL FOR BRAVO TO GO THE LOWER RANKS I SAW IT COMING.DON’T EVEN TRY TO BLAME THE PLAYERS OR FAZ THE ADMINISTRATION OF NCHANGA RANGERS IS OYO FAKO BA NGWELE NIMWE MWALENGA FYONSE [-(

  17. I THINK PA ZED, we are not serious. A FAZ president on supersport analyzing friendly games of other african countries whose results posted check ON #22 above whilst our team players lacking match fitness, and still dozzing after drinking, as they await the start of the soccer season. Atase, WorldCup2010 ni zee forget!! FAZ affiliates, impeach Kalusha led executive. Now is the time b4 our soccer which is on life support stops breathing. It will be costly to resurrect it.

  18. Ba Rangers get prepared for tough encounters with Mufulira Blackpool, Ndola united, Devil Kalampa, Zanama, Tazara Rockets.
You had all the sponsorship, nomba ubukula too much.

Go back to the lower ranks and rebuild.

  19. Is this how the Great Galu is going to run soccer? Missing another penalty the way he did in his final match? Let him concentrate on being a Supersports presenter rather than being a FAZ president. What we need is a FAZ president, not a roving ambassador.

  20. #28 You are right on, the demotion of my Brave Rangers ws wrtten on the wall 4 some time. I used to see the coach Malitoli on Kitwe mini buses most mornings on his way to Chingola presumably going to train the team! Sometimes I met the coach on Saturday when the team had a game and I concluded something was amis.

  21. There is always a chance to bounce back!! Too bad for Nchanga, pliz consider professional soccer experts to help develop Zambian football. We have many people who played and coached soccer ready to help, but what’s there on the Table from KCM to support this?Work hard Nchanga you will come Back.Motivate the players on the ground with proper facilities suiting the game like in South Africa.
The MINISTER OF SPORTS needs to be a sportsperson!!!
Those who their career in football see them into Europe should get in touch with former Zambian player in South Africa on Email:
    [email protected]

  22. I grew up in Chingola watching Nchanga Brave Rangers in the eighties. The demotion of the team means more than just the down fall of the team but also the fallimg of the football standards in Zambia.

We need good adminstrators at FAZ and not pipo like Marcha Chilemena.FAZ blunderd in the way they handled the whole issue and I need somebody to convice me that “BRAVE ” are realy demoted.

  23. I would say we do have some people out there with some brains..Bravo Kasunga for coming in to save the situation. When i heard that Rangers would survive relegation (via boardroom) i was appalled to say the least (Rangers is my side by the way). What is so special about Rangers for them to claim they are the only team in the league not to have been relegated. We have struggled league in league out and maybe the way forward is to go back to the “drawing board” which is characterised by rough play, rough terrain etc among other rough conditions… If they do come back from these tough waters maybe they will be ready to conquer the world…
VIVA NCHANGA RANGERS VS AL AHLY
