The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- may start the continuos registration of voters in June this year.
ECZ Chairperson, Florence Mumba, says the commission has already started working on how best to carryout the exercise.
Justice Mumba told ZNBC news in an interview in Lusaka that the exercise may start in June if all the requirements are put in place before that time.
She however appealed for patience from all stakeholders to allow the commission to sort out all issues related to the exercise before it can commence.
Justice Mumba said the commission is determined to carry out the exercise in a transparent manner.
Parliament last week approved 5 billion kwacha budgetary allocation for the continuous voter registration exercise.

I believe THAT tribalism in Zambia was started by the Undereducate PF Leader MC Sata when he was part of the former President Chiluba FTJ MMD. Unifortunately, most Bemba characters have fallen for the Undereducate’s useless and bad invention for Zambians.

Let us admit that we do not have the financial capacity to run the registration of voters independently, so all Zambians should register with the local councils and then ECZ can caputure data from Councils. Its no normal to have huge bill from one institution exceeding the public service salary bill. The data may be used by other organisation like Banks who may wish to prove the residencial addresses for applicants.
Its a good thing to do ECZ, but pliz get lid of Kalale and his followers at that most important instituation.

However, thanks for committing yourselves to start the voter registration. I hope you will extend it to Zambians who are living abroad and provide avenues for them to vote in the 2011 tripartite elections.
The process should be handle with care otherwise this will bring alot of problem. We are living in the time of when the situation is so explosive such that the atmosphere is tense. only then when we will have a free and fair election the tension will subside.
