The MMD has distanced it self from party members engaged in business transactions with government ministries using the name of the party.

Meanwhile the Police Service has received correspondence from the opposition PF regarding payments made to MMD members at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

MMD National Secretary, Katele Kalumba, has directed the party’s treasury to study the allegations and subsequently submit a detailed report to his office.

Dr. Kalumba said in a statement on Thursday that the report will then be submitted to the acting party president for action.

He said the MMD does not use its influence to help party members or supporters to gain advantage in their business transactions.

Dr. Kalumba said persons who support the MMD do so because they share the party’s ideological positions on good governance, economic empowerment of citizens, poverty reduction and the fight against corruption.

MMD deputy national Secretary, Jeff Kaande, is reported to have written to Home Affairs Permanent Secretary, Susan Sikaneta, asking her to pay over K1 billion to seven food suppliers who had pledged financial support to the ruling party.

  1. Who doesnt do favors anyway! ichalo twaikalama.

Bane pa CB abantu are queing for Ubunga imagine. Consetrate on reall issues ba MMD rather than ukulabwatafwe.

    Fi Muntu Meat Denkede.

  2. Chi party cadre ichi chisuma zo’ona……camera-man tommfwa, kwati ninebo. Ok, favours are everywhere, even Obama has rewarded those that believed in him way before any of us knew anything about him. But where I have issues is when these so called businesses (or scheamers, in my opinion) inflate their invoices and want to reap where they did not sow. And also, where procurement is concerned, no short-cuts should be condoned as in Dora’s case, otherwise we will be back to the Chiluba’s era where if you belonged to anything other than MMD, no order would come your way till you go on your fours begging for mercy! To me RB smells like ripe UNIP and FTJ’s MMD all rolled up in one.

  3. Onani imwe sure mukazi kuwama amene aziyanika pakazuba sure coz of MMD.And when you take her somewhere where there is sunshine like that one,she will meka like and I quote”Imwe naimwe kasuba kanishoka mufuna nifipe so that mukanisiye mukayende kwinangu” end of quoting.then the man will go like “awe mummy its not that, okay bwera uyimilile pano ine niyimilile mukazuba” Too bad men, anyway its worth it guys.

MMD if this is true then you are sining GOD is not pleased with favouritism elo MULUNGU nga azanda awe sure.Read Romans 1 vs 18-31.and see how GOd get angry.

    Matworld.

    • Matworld you always amaze and confuse me , first you admire and teach /encourage us with the love world then next you warn us to be God fearing.Anyway you mean well boss.

  4. Why is it that you men get attracted to light skinned ladies? If the lady in the pix was dark, no one could have given her a second look !!

    • in Zambia there are a lot of dark in complexion people so it kind of makes sense that they(Zambian) guys prefer light skinned ladies to dark ones. I am light and prefer dark skinned ladies , but not chako darkness though

  5. fellaz, am i blinded by my level of education and the fashion in which fred membe writes his articles not to really see that RB has done a good thing by sucking two deputy ministers for denoucing corruption and keeping two of which will be facing trial? help me with facts….

  6. That MMD cadre is good looking, so its not just politcs, good women too. If you can’t beat them…joni them. MMD here I cum…

  7. there is no corruption in MMD. Only Chiluba was corrupt. This is the new MMD which is so sellective. Nyorongo’s corruption cant be compared with Jeff Kaande’s …jeff is not corrupt and ACC knows that for they will do nothing about it. This makes me sick that we are so sellective in the fight against corruption. It does not make sense people. o leave Chiluba alone to enjoy Regina coz it has shown beyond doubt that you Zambians dont mean business in the fight against corruption but you have become sounding gongs.

  8. Imwe guys busy admiring that woman who is an mmd cadre. And older than most of you,me i just gaze at the real beauty of Baby C.

  9. Katele Kalumba has issues related to his questionable integrity and this is the same muppet talking about how legitimate Government dealings are…shut up!!

  10. Bloggers,

Evidently some of you have utopian world view. Can someone give me a political party in the world from the machinists to current democratic system which has no culture of patronage or alienates its base from opportunities? Is it SA’s ANC, Namibia’s SWAPO, Uganda’s Movemnent, German’s Social Democratic, America’s liberal DNC or Conservative GOP? Are we talking of the rockerfellers’s Government lines, Henry Alfred Kissinger
, General Franks and the Iraq reconstruction opportunities, Hariburton, Blackwater elite guards, UK’s The DOgs of war, then Executive outcomes under the Apartheid…

  11. Politics world over is entrenched in unwritten patronage rules.Keep cheating yourselves with those views you have against MMD. Do you know how many patronage job position the US politics extends to each new administration? minimum of 295,000 own choice patronage jobs.Clinton had 321,000, Obama and his team are filling in from the base with slightly below 300,000.

  12. Iwe# 3.32, Junior Citizen what are you talking about? It doesnt matter who else in the world is doing that. What mmd is doing is totally wrong and should not be supported by any human being who is in his right frame of mind. How do you allow most of the mmd cadres to supply food to government mininstries, and the figures are even inflated.wastage of tax payers money.Do you get it in that head of your?

  14. I agree with the senior citizen.Certainly patronage and appeasement of supportes is an unavoidable part of politics everywhere and the examples u have cited are spot on.Ba chewe the virgin, hold your horses mate.whilst we not happy about such a state of affairs we cant stop it best bet is 2 pressurise em 2 reduce it.

    • Rightly put patronage heeh! Today people are seeing patronage and not corruption. But with chiluba there is no patronage but corruption. I fail to understand you Zambians. Singing songs of no to corruption against Chiluba but inside your hearts you know its patronage. Sounding gongs you have become now. There is no fight against corruption coz the fight has been compromised and it will be so difficult to jail Chiluba. The ACC and task force is also compromised as we have observed who selective they are. Please let us not waste our resources on chasing after the wind.

  15. Patronage favours must coincide with availabilty of resources coupled with less comsumer demand. But in Zambia, its the other way round. k1billion = $180,000,is a lot of money, just think of how many Doctors we can send to chilubi island or how many delapidated teachers’ house we can repair in chongwe.Pity,us Poor Zambians who are becoming more incapacitated by our own because of greedy .Trying to kick corruption out of Zambia is like looking for a needle in sand at a crowded beach. No wonder the Post Newspaper will always be needed other than these other sleep walker censored newspapers protecting government officials. You can’t bite the hand that feeds you-so it just comes to the same thing.

  16. MMD is proving something to all of us. a series of scandals within 4months???, now i smell a rat, the smoke we see in zamtel means an australlian fire…look out for desparate MMD. 3 years look short for most of them including top dons. they want to spend it very ‘wisely’ in looting and sangwapo mentality….this is embarassing. RB must be ashamed of himself. Everyday that comes reveals a big gap that exists btn the current regime & corruption!

  17. Business is becoming hard. I am going to renounce my Caucus For national Unity (CNU Katyoka Party) and join the Mwadya Mwecha dadi…

  18. My personal view right now is that you all have been corrupted by the ideology/theory of corruption. Only in Africa and Zambia in Particular do people relate anything from bribes favours or mismanagement of any sort to corruption its like that is the only description you know for something done in a wrong way. For as long as the evil word CORRUPTION is an every day word no change. When Obama made an appointment then they later found out the guy was not paying tax someone tell me what was done coz i remenber someone saying not everyone is 100% clean when this happend

  19. I am so disgusted with the president.T his man man is an abomination for this wonderful country Zambia is a shinning star of democracy in the continent and this man just come to give it a bad name in all aspect of humanity. This man is going to record the worst record and he will be the bad an example of bad leadership. How can you fire your minister at a public rally? Even when you disagree be a stateman after all you invited these men to serve in your carbnet. What’s wrong with our pipo?

  20. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG FOR MMD MEMBERS TO DO BUSINESS WITH GRZ MINISTRIES AS LONG AS THERE IS NO CORRUPTION.THEY ARE ALSO ZAMBIANS.

  21. It looks like we are back in the Wamuyayaya days where onll those with UNIP wings can fly high.PLZ ba RB,sort this rubish and do nor aloow this carders meccy you up.Last time it was at state house and now it is contracts with the canders.PLZ bapepeken pantu 2011 ileisa
