President Rupiah Banda has warned leaders in the Zambian government that he will not tolerate indiscipline and attacks on the Presidency.
Mr. Banda says he has been a subject of attacks since he was elected even from some ministers and will not seat idle, but take action against the culprits.
The President said he has an obligation to take action against undisciplined leaders.
The Zambian leader was speaking on arrival in Siavonga, in the Southern Province to launch the construction of the Kariba North Bank extension project.
Mr. Banda advised leaders to be humble because they are not indispensable.
He said Katuba Member of Parliament, Jonas Shakafuswa and Mpulungu MP, Lameck Chibombamilimo were expelled from the ruling party because they thought they were indispensable.
Mr. Banda said Mr. Shakafuswa and Mr. Chibombamilimo will soon be replaced with better people to represent their constituencies whose names will be announced soon.
Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe urged President Banda to continue developing the country and ignore people who are continuously attacking him.
[ZNBC]
Too much talkin
“stop attacking me” Then start working Sir…
RB lost the elections. He is illigally there. What do you expect? His ministers know he is an imposter of a leader so they cannot respect him. I’m coming to bring true transformation to the country. Watch out for ZANC – back to the roots: Change is Possible. We shall be ready for launch soon. We are the leaders who know the way and especially the destination. We know what people need even before they know what they need. We plan and act. No idle time and talks. No cheap politics. Only great leadership Africa has ever seen. If you are tired of being tires then ZANC is the Party to look forward to. Look out! Change is possible.
RB, You are not indispensable either. Watch your tongue
Needs more bootlickers by his side
Give reasons why we should stop.
not until you start behaving like president will we stop attacking, just prepare yourself for more attacks.
we shall not sit and watch things go wrong. Mr President you agreed to this path and shall have to live by it. praise shall be given where its due..
RB has the right to deal with his ministers when they criticize him!! Still not all critics are bad!! It may also be this attitude of “yes bwana” that has lead to bad government. I remember KK holding press conferences at state house, and ministers would then start shaking! At least KK would turn those ministers criticizing him into ministers without portfolio.
I am sure RB feels the pressure within the party and also means that there is something wrong!! I am sure no one is paid to criticize his Boss. So RB should sit down with his critics and solve matters instead of just issuing warnings. A government full of officials with fear of the man above will not perform freely.
press conference for the President is porridge nowadays. indeed Kaunda’s ministers would even collapse, you could see the fear on the faces, and at least LPM, manje awe sure, no value.
I strongly agree with you.good point, but only a good leader can do that so we have to pray for him.
The next elections will be brought to the 21st century. Watch out for the true developmental standards ZANC will bring. Look out for our leadership. Coming soon!
What a Leader ZAMBIA has
I know…instead of talking about the project he goes and talks about gossip. He is already proving to be a dictator.
we will not stop, not untill you change your behaviour.
Amen!
RB should be ashamed of himself! I can only assure him of more attacks since he behaves like his cadres!
MC Sata is far much beta than RB,embarasin we Easterners am so so embarased.
Ha! If people think RB is a dictator, then they obviously have a very selective memory of Sata while he was in Chiluba’s government.
Nishani ichitinya ba RB??? We did not vote for you and we don’t believe in you. So more missiles still coming achimwene!!!
I think the only reason people attack RB is because he won the presidential by-elections and not PF. Most of RB`s attackers are part of the PF clan.
I think instead of sidetracking the man with your petty attacks, let him do his work. You are side tracking him and instead of issuing a statement on the new dam, you are making him remember old conflicts. Please remember that RB is also human and does not need attacks. RB was attacked immediately he stepped into statehouse. That is not fair on the man.
Instead of attacking him, offer suggestions and solutions. It is like instead of suggesting to your child on how they can improve their grade, you call them a “chikopo“ & xpect them to…
Your analogy was perfect. Are you refering that RB is a child?
We do not vote for children, we vote for people with leadership characters, who do not need others to make suggestions or offer solutions to economic and social problems.
He has been given 7 months already what has he done in? The exchange rate is high, food prices are beyond the roof, petrol is high.
WOW!!!
WHAT A STRAWMAN. I never said, referred or implied that RB is a child. You did and not I. If you are going to address my analogy, quote me on things I have actually said.
As for the exchange rate, Zambia is not the only country facing this problem. There is a shortage of USD on the world market, International Banks are insolvent, investors are pulling out. Of course the currency will be shaky. Currency stabilization is not the presidents job. That is the reason we have Caleb Fundanga (BOZ Gov) and he has taken action to stabilize the currency. I hope you know that food prices rose just after RB was inaugurated. It is not RB fault maize stocks where sold abroad.
cont…
The food prices are high due to a shortage in maize stocks (a problem RB found). Petro is high because the old stocks where bought at a high price. Depending on the inventory system being used, you cannot expect them to magically reduce.
Your statement is amazingly ignorant and I think my IQ just dropped some points after reading the nonsense that you wrote.
Mother Theresa of Calcutta said; ” What you are doing, there are people who want you to it and other people who don’t want you to it. But, remember, What you have to do, do it.” You have the president sleeping with is head out trying to get who is talking what about him. He should be doing what he is suppose to do. He wasting everyones time responding to every word on the street. What is the job for presidential affairs minister? Brace for more of those things you call insults. Te bonse bakutemwa. Ati kumbali kwatukwa mfumu.
Your own words “It is like instead of suggesting to your CHILD on how they can improve their grade, you call them a “chikopo“ & xpect them to…”
I agree with you that he may have come at the wrong time like Obama, but guess what Obama is doing something about the US economy. What is RB doing other than claiming what issues he inherited and who he is going to fire. We are tired of listening we want ACTION!
I hope you understand what an “analogy“ is. The CHILD statement was an analogy. Any intelligent person can see that given the context in which it was used.
I think you don`t see how the problems are being solved simply because you have chosen not to see them. You already have a preconceived notion of RB and so to tell you otherwise would be kicking a dead horse.
I would like to give you a few words of advise. Learn to be objective and read between the line. See the colors in the world and not only in black and white and open your eyes. Hatred will just consume you and you will get depressed in your hatred. I see things as they are and not with a preconceived notion like you do.
I read between the lines and realized that your point would have been much better highlighted by picking an analogy that highlighted your point and did not do the opposite.
I am looking as reality as it is, life as a Zambian was much better early last year than now.
And yes I do have a preconceived notion of RB from the fact that RBs character before and now has proved that he is more interested in power than solving our economic issues.
You cannot sit by and support leaders like they are god given, all you are doing is digging the knife deeper in the poor that wish educated people like you could stand up for them!
Free Market Capitalist – you’re one of the only people who speaks any semblance of sense on this website. The same insults and attacks were levelled against Levy by Sata supporters who somehow think their preferred candidate would have better handled the recession’s impact on our country than RB. How? With Zimbabwe as out main ally? Ah, no thanks.
Free Market Capitalist is forgetting that RB has been part of Govt since 2006/07 so HE HAS NOT inherited problems but he is part and parcel of those that caused the problems. He was the # 2 in this country so the excuses dont hold any water. Let RB fix these challenges after all thats what he promised when seeking our votes. We gave him a chance let him deliver
“The President said he has an obligation to take action against undisciplined leaders.” RB is so childish. Nonsense comes out of his mouth all the time. Can you for once talk with reasoning and wisdom (if at all you possess any). You should be talking about national development rather than petty issues. Honestly, Zambia deserves better.
I think you are blind, cant you see that advise to this man is an attack am suprised I left some people behind still believing in this man who doesn’t know his job and does not even wish to learn. He should go back to being a farm supervisor.
ATASE! why? ugovifaula vintu & we should instead applaude you.
RB should start sayn sensibe things, eg developmental projects not shaka everyday
Munkombwe you political prostitute,do you want to die as a minister or what?Age has caught
up with you, retire and go to your village in choma, stop that boot liking and boot saking!!!!
Mr Banda what is the connection between Ministers being dismissed while you are supposed to be concentrating on Kaliba North Bank extension programme? I hope you were addressing MMD cadres as usual.
On “Mr. Banda said Mr. Shakafuswa and Mr. Chibombamilimo will soon be replaced with better people to represent their constituencies whose names will be announced soon”, do you think you can solely make Mr Shakafuswa and Mr Chibombamilimo to lose the elections of being MP?
The reality will soon set in you that it is the Zambian Citizens who votes for whom they like and not you to elect consitituency MPs in your capacity as an inidividual though a Zambian President right now. On ridicle,…
Is this a threat in disguise? Why should he rule out any attacks on his presidency if he is credible enough to withstand them? That sounds very emotional.
Look at him, ifimatobo
We will not going to stop insulting you if you wont show some leadership skills. You dont fire your ministers in front of cadres. You must have been eating too much mbeba when you were at your “farm”. To tell you, you had and have no vision for Zambia and never thought would be president. You brain is already tired and in short we Zambians are just looking after ourself. You liar, where is the fertiser you said would be sold at K50,000 during campaign period. No wonder you married a small girl whose age difference is 43 yrs. Phew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Hahahaha u are a strong person watch what u write here.
This government is a total disaster. And its come at a time when we need enligtened, educated and forthright leadership given the economic turmoil engulfing the entire planet. And what do we have for leaders? A bunch of jokers, kaponyas, chancers and plain opportunists! Yaaba, what crime have we committed to derserve this? Mwanawasa, see what you bequethed us. Chiluba is beginning to look like a genious and a saint. What crap!
RB please leave me out of your threat. You are the waste of all presidents in Zambia. Your behavior is so childish and irrational. You want people to be praising you for telling lies ?? Where are the 4000 jobs , the many mines to be opened, where is the K50 000 fertilizer for peasant famers, where is the Mwanawasa legacy , where are all the good things you promised??? You have failed to provide them but you want Zambians to praise you like in Kaunda time…wamuyaya…..my foot!! To hell with you.!!!!!!!!
PF supporters …..Just lament…luckily there is nothing much you can do.!
RB should also mention why he left UNIP if at all he did then also explain why we see similarities or let alone unip tactics. Look we know Nervous Mumba’s indicipline activities in MMD then Fired but only to be appointed to go to Canada. Now we now of your relationship with Mrs Kaunda (unip), Mrs kaunda’s relationship with N. Mumba. So what do you meen by indicipline and bringing back indicipline chaps.
Abashi Chief mentality, we have an obligation to keep you in check. if you don’t want to be criticized don’t hold public office. who told you that being a prez is like a walk in the park? if that’s what you want go to your village and become a chief. Look what hero worshiping has done to Africa in general and Zambia in particular. imwe matafe mulibe nzelu!!
We should not mix issues here. If the president says that people in his party and his govt should not criticise him at least in public then that is understandable. There should be some sort of party discipline, unity and loyalty. Sata also had problems with PF members who did not toe the party line and tried to dismiss them from the party. This, however does not mean that nobody should criticise the govt and president – it goes against the notion of free speech and democracy and I dont think that RB is suggesting that.
Similar things happen in Western countries as well, and dissenting members of government are usually kicked out when their criticisms get out of hand. That helps maintain unity and enables parties to strengthen their credibility and get on with their work.
The speech which he gave in Siavonga is irrelevant to the construction work at Kariba. He seems to be preoccupied with his internal MMD problems
Its the nature of your job Mr. Preisident. A tall tree catches all the wind. You will be praised, ridiculed, insulted, immortalised thru slogans etc. Efyo iyaa.
Fix the corruption you seem to be sweeping under the rag. Of the many things going on, your son with GMO’s , then Siliya with her contracts, you need to prove to us that you are not corrupt. The world is watching. Wonder if you have a very short memory. Remember what’s happening to Chiluba? Same thing will happen to you. You won’t enjoy your retirement. Of course unless you enjoy going in and out of court.
In the US it has traditionally been considered that the out going President becomes a lame
duck between 4th Nov and 20th Jan – e.g between when Obama was elected in-coming
President and when he actually took over from Bush. In Zambia, RB has been a lame duck
from the day he assumed office. He cannot for all intents and purposes follow in the foot steps of his predecessers. Now he cries about being attacked. Any attacks on his Presidency which are not subject to the principle of collective responsibility (e.g from his own cabinet) are acceptable and a part of the virtues of democracy. Trying to ‘shut up’ any crtics worsens his already pathetic debut as President of Zambia.
By the way the NCC should also include a policy in which the Government does not build houses for former Presidents convicted of crimes of any sort especially money laundering or corruption they preach. Govt. don’t have money and would save a lot of money. Don’t just look at membe and mutembo, Chiluba still even claims $8.5million in zamtrop acccount frozen. How about loaning to Obama for Pakistan and Afgan wars like the Chinese we could even yield interest.
By-elections again. How much will they cost together with the PF ones? Uuuuh!
How does expect people not to attack him when all he is doing is rubbish and sensiless things. he does has never siad enything about those miner who lost theier jobs what kind of a president is he?
how does he expect people not to talk about him, when all he is doing is rubish and senseless things. he has never said anythinng about thoz miners who lost their jobs, what kind of a president is he?
Iwe satana stop yapping and get to work. This is the problem of having a bossy type of a leader who thinks he can push people around without anyone saying a thing. He simply thinks he is running a banana farm, this is a country and when you error people will not sit and watch without saying a thing. If you are not ready for critics and attacks zebigge kuya bebele. So shut up and start talking developmental issues and deal with your ministers diplomatically.
Mr. President be careful with your tongue. Tatubomba ne cintinya, you think yourself are indispensable. We will bring more fire untill your humble yourself and do the work. Let me also warn the small thinkers who RB recieves critics from the supporters of Sata, can’t you read RB’s words, he put it clear that some critics are from the ministers. Are you telling me that those ministers are supporters of Sata. When there is something wrong it is wrong and we should criticise RB for the wrongs. Mr. President behave like a president, no intimidations we shall give more fire if you misbehaves. BOMBA UMULIMO WE WANT ZAMBIA TO DEVELOP
Give this man chance to work for us. He is a humble man and hardworking
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT SIR, RESPNDING TO CRITICS IS A WASTE OF TIME. POLITICS WITH NO TALK WILL NOT WORK. SO IF YOU THINK THE KITCHEN IS TOO HOT, WE SAY GET OUT. CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM SHOULD PREVAIL. ITS ABOUT TIME WE HAD STRAIGHT ON POLITICS WITH NO BOOTLICKERS. THOSE DAYS ARE GONE WITH UNIP WHEN PEOPLE WHERE JUST HURTING INSIDE WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING TO A LEADER; THIS IS THE 21ST CENTURY AND WE ALL KNOW ABOUT HUMAN RIGTHS, NO ONE IS GOIGN TO PERSECUTE ANYONE FOR SPEAKING OUT. THATS WHAT AFRICA NEEDS. THE LEADERS DON’T GET IT. GENERATION Y WAKE UP AND STEP INTO THIS GAME. WE NEED PEOPLE WHO UNDERSTAND THE 21ST CENTURY CHALLENGES AND WILL BRING ABOUT 21ST CENTRUY IDEAS & CAN TAKE CRITICISM.
I am with you on this one. kee p it up and all the very best.
Canucks, plse do not write in all caps. It is hard on the eyes and tough on the ears. Looks like yur are shouting at us….
Ah. Ba shreik bena mailele yekayeka. How did we end up with this man at the helm? Tha man shows no intelligence in the way he walks, talk and thinks. As long as we allow such minions like imilongoti and the rest to determine our political future, we have no solution. Vote wisely guys next time!
Bakulu, go into teaching were pupils don’t question your wisdom. Period.
Look who is talking! RB you said the last presidential election was a must win for MMD; but do not let me think that u did not know what it means to be president. You went as far as involving yourself in corrupt practices as well as telling lies in order to get to plot one. You promised the electorate among other things cheap fertilizers, mealie meal. Now that you cannot live up to your promises you want the people you misled not to question your integrity, intelligence and mental status? Do u understand that u could be dragged to court for the alleged electoral crimes at the end of your term of office?U have 2 handle both yo primitive electorate and the civilized u swindled out of ballots.
Mr President just shut up and get to work. What hurts is that we know what you ought to do as president, but you don’t.Do not pop up your ugly face and concentrate on delivering.Look at young Obama.Everybody can see that he is working. But u old RB with all yo ‘experience’ and ‘education’ u dont seem to know what u are supposed to do.What untold mediocrity of leadership!!
Ah!! Geez!!
looks like poor Lameck and Jonas have to find another party if they are to represent next election !!! i do remember looking forward to an abundant show of diplomacy during this presidency but i’m still waiting!!!
If you are tired of being tires then ZANC is the Party to look forward to. Look out! Change is possible.
Zambia need a female head of state for as to get back to transperance and get the job done! I am quite disappointed at our current choices we make! atleast we tried to put LPM though we underestimated him but he treid his best, hence thousand of cases in our courts today! but R.B ! I don’t know mwendi? but I have no idea who he is and what he has done or did for the Zambian pipo. I loosing confidence in our male aspiring presdos! maybe we put a female and see where she’ll take us. Kaya mwandi ni, am so dispointed with our politics pa zed.
mwapwisha bakateka
This President should be allowed to discipline his people but he should also be seen to be working.
RB looks very out of touch and unsure of what he needs to do. We all know know he came to power five months ago but please show us your sense of direction. the Chinese fools and dictators and abusers are taking over our country, they control the construction of our infrastructure, as if we do not have engineers in Zambia. RB get to work okay? enough of the beckering irrelevancy. We need leadership.
Resign if you don’t want to be attacked.
No worries guys, Canucks was not shouting at anyone , maybe the government. Anyway, the Zambian leadership is becoming annoying. Leaders don’t get it and i think serious;y speaking this old generation is done. NO more voting for leaders who have been around and recycled from one prty to another. It is clear that they don’t have a plan for you the Zambians but for themselves to be employed easily and get easy money. These guys are hired by us the people of Zambia and therefore should not be taken for granted. Their job is to work for us and by the way i would like to knaow what RB’s plan for the country is for the next few years he is in office. NAyone have an idea about that? I don’t think so. So let this man show us the p[aln, hold them accountable. Anyway, we need change,
Nevertheless iam glad that at least the message caught your attention for being in CAPS, .
Have a good one y’all.
Mr President , you are a public figure and as such that calls 4 public scrutiny . Show us a
direction, layout some policies.
Mr Banda is a very good man. we zambians should appreciate his work is doing. so dont dont dont atack him. he is very credible man. he is going to bring development to zambia. not what mwanawasa left. levy did nothing.
Rupiah for 2011. go rupiah go MMD wamuyayaya. i love this man
Bwalya, there’s definitely something wrong with your thinking. Do you know this quote:
“It is difficult to keep quiet if you have nothing to do”
Ba free fimo fimo #12 is a proper MMD cadre. if not then he is a son of the MMD chaps that sent him abroad. To him MMD is the best party on earth and has the best leadership. He sounds like a bootlicker to me and his economic analysis about Zambia to him shows that Zambia’s economy is ok. awe just watch his response to my posting. he will cut, paste put in bold or Italics then comment.
Uyu Banda who does he think he is. Does he know that he is a public figure? atase kwati pali nefyo bali ukutinya abanabo. ifimano fyaku chipata.
I bet President Rupiah Banda goes to say these things to people he knows don’t like him or those he knows they know they have little to benefit from his rule. Mr. Rupiah Banda, you deserve to be rebuked, Sir. As long as it’s done democratically, I don’t see anything wrong in it. No-one’s infallible, and especially not you. Mr Shakafuswa expressed himself perhaps in a way that did not please you, but he was right & brave in what he said. (Not even you are an original member of MMD). The course you’re putting the country on is rocky, and it will create problems in future—perhaps not for you, but for the younger generation of Zambians, after you!
?????????? ???????? ????, ???????? ? ???????!
