  1. RB and PF in dialogue on important national issues!! That is the way forward at this juncture. The global economic crunch should be dealt with. I salute RB and PF on this one.

    • Indeed some good news of the day , there is nothing as disheartening to citizenry as seeing its leaders trading blows to each other in public day in day out….

  2. I can’t wait for the day when we’ll have elections results that will be accepted by all stakeholders.

    • Only election for club all association chairperson will be accepted by all stakeholders. Accepting elections also means not saying it out loud that u disagree. U can tel yo wife abt it tho.

  3. We are yet to have a progressive party in Zambia. Pf , HP, etc are all personal to holder parties. Sata should realize that he will never lead Zambia, maybe in another life. His time is up! A honorable man knows when to call it quits. His cadre mentality and misdeeds during the 3rd term debacle will forever haunt him.

  4. At least RB sees the importance of cooperating with PF. We don’t want to see a war between MMD & PF cadres in 2011.

  5. Political expedience at the expense of proper reasoning and institutional capacity building tactics. RB just wants to eat and bribe in peace while Sata wants to have a chance to be recognised as the leader of the opposition and get a Ministerial pay package. Mean while you and I would be told it is an economic down turn world over. Wake and chase these clowns sooner than later.

  6. Dearest Zambians on the blog. It seems very few of us know the Catholic Church and what it is capable of doing. That is a Church full of intellectual leadership-you name it. Therefore, they understand what most of us do not…for this reason, many of us come to understand what the Catholic understands when the mess is already done. Catholic leadership does not just learn the bible. That is why though many of you call yourselves educated…remember it is often in a single diploma…marketing, etc. But the Catholic leadership offers wholistic education. Just to tell some of you that you are not yet educated! So please read between the lines. LT publish the pastoral letter so that we can debate

    • Is it the same catholic church that was against abortion when a 9 year old pregnant from the step father? The Church excommunicated the doctors who did the operation and also the mother of the girl but not the step father who committed the offense.
The mixture of politics and religion is a thorn in a simple man’s life.

    • As I said you need to understand the teaching of the catholic church… you seem to apply your premises with a little bit of knowledge. Such a decision arose from the fundamental teaching on the dignity and sacredness of human life in all its forms! Remember that you need the gift of faith to enlighten your reason!!! But you lack this gift and so it is difficult at this moment to see how such a decision will have such a great influence on your life tomorrow. Lastly excommunication applies to certain cases in the Church not all…! You don’t have this knowledge and so you can’t understand the canon law!

    • So it is the same church! Right! Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar !! No mixture of religion and politics please.

    • “The Archbishop of this Northeastern Brazilian region explained that, contrary to the press reports, all those involved in the abortion have incurred in excommunication latae sententiae (automatically) “except for the little girl, who is not morally responsible for this tragic act.” End of Quote. Jamaco the fact that the step father is not mentioned doesn’t mean he wasn’t communicated. On the contrary, MAYBE he is not catholic, and the church can not excommunicate one who does not belong to it.

    • So it’s that simple? I think not. I am sorry to say so catholic brethren but I must call a spade a spade: a good number of these so called (arch)bishops behave more like politically biased rubble rousers than intellectuals. Same league as president mmembe.

  7. “President Banda said the nation should now look ahead and embrace reconciliation, unity and dialogue”. Given what he is orchestrating against Magande for contesting the presidency of MMD, one wonders whether there is any gray matter left in Rupiah’s big for nothing gurumutu!

  8. Did you also read the reasons Rupiah gave for receiving former Ghanaian president John Kufuor at the airport, “because you my brother received me as a president when I was still just acting”. Ladies and gentlemen, we have “chizende ngako” for president.

    • I feel betrayed when I see the condition of the capital today! Pres. Mwanawasa’ motto: Let keep Zambia Clean has long been forgotten. Sometime, Lusaka became very clean…I really admired the city. Since Mwanawasa died the city is very dirty! I don’t know whether cleanliness was just Mwanawasa’s concern not the all govt. I am uncertain about the future of the nation. Our neighbours have stable economy despite the massive economic crisis! Tsh 1 =K5

    • That is exactly my view point as well. We have not proved ourselves as Zambians. We need to prove ourselves to our African peers, and demonstrated that Zambia can also do it. Botswana keep doing it over and over and over again? What’s the problem here other than poor leadership.? Have visited your local authority recently, scnadal after scandal is the order of the day as council secretaies and town clerk hold onto inefficiency year in year out. There is no way we can bring pride to a country like this.

  9. Typical Zambian style. When its election time, the process is fair. After winning, you call for reforms. What a joke!

  10. He is the biggest culprit, so what dialogue is he talking about. people are just good at talking but very poor at imprementation.

  11. I dislike ethnic tags and stereotypes, but we must bite the bullet — this is the monster that has destroyed our sense of humanity. It is what bungled our elections. Our political parties and alliances are merely drifting tectonic plates temporarily bound by the glue of mutual gain they guarantee cadres. certain tribes are gifted leaders!

  12. Come to think of it, let’s do an honest stock take of what we have been saying about President Banda. He is about four months in office now. Right from his first day in office we have set about criticising our own elected president. Can we now take stock indivdually and critically list our basis for that incessant criticism? I bet most of the negative comments have been baseless and we know it. Shouldn’t we have been more supportive in order to build him into the leader that we want? After all, like it or not, he will be Zambia’s His Excellency until 2011 or even beyond!
