Mbesuma Dropped For Egypt Game

Share

Collins Mbeusma is one of three high-profile foreign-based players dropped on the revised list for Zambia’s 2010 World/Africa Cup  Group C away qualifier against Egypt in Cairo on March 29.

The Mamelodi Sundowns striker was part of the earlier 29-member list unveiled on March 3 by Faz.

Others from that original list but omitted from the new  23-member team announced during Wednesday’s Faz press briefing in Lusaka include striker James Chamanga of Dalian Hai Chang in China.

Also dropped is livewire winger Clifford Mulenga who is currently on-loan from South African side Bidvest Wit to fellow PSL club Thanda Royal Zulu.

Renard has also dropped four key players from his Bronze-medal winning CHAN team.

The quartet is Green Buffaloes goalkeeper Davy Kaumbwa, Power Dynamos defensive midfielder Francis Kasonde including the Zanaco midfield duo of Henry Banda and Ignatius Lwipa.

Back in the team is Zesco United defender Nyambe Mulenga who was orginally left out of the list released earlier this month despite a good outing at CHAN.

Leading the local contingent of call-ups is Zanaco striker Given Singuluma who scored a record setting 5 goals at the CHAN tournament.

However, Power midfielder Kennedy Mudenda who had an eye-catching outing at the CHAN despite playing as a substitute in the group stage matches and semifinal has been ignored.

The team will go into camp in Johannesburg this weekend with part of the list of eight home-based players flying out to South Africa on Sunday.

The team will be trimmed from 23 to 20 prior to departure for Cairo.

Goalkeepers: Kennedy Mweene (Free State Stars, South Africa), Kalililo Kakonje (Amazulu, South Africa).

Defenders: Davies Nkausu (SuperSport United, South Africa), Kampamba Chintu (Amazulu, South Africa),  Joseph Musonda (Golden Arrows, South Africa),  Elijah Tana(Nchanga Rangers) Emmanuel Mbola (Mining Rangers), Hichani Himoonde, Nyambe Mulenga (Both Zesco United),  Misheck Lungu (FC Kecskemeti, Hungary), Dennis Banda (Green Buffaloes)

  1. Why include professionals?Local players could have done a good job. Anyway my advice is..watch out for the Pharaohs!

  2. Good ridance.Mbes ceased to be a dynamic forward way back .I would be surprised if he ever inspires any skill and confidence to young players anymore.Let him be.

  3. He can still play a part considering his exposure. But still, no single player is larger than the whole team. Good luck Zambia. Chipolopolo, Iyeee!

  4. The time for Mbesuma is over, its ok he has given us enough let the young ones take over, age will always limit one in sports,he did us glory in 04,05 maybe 06 in chiefs

  5. Ati Mbesuma high profile foreign based player? Since when? This is good riddence to bad rubbish! Let us have boys like Singuluma in the team.

  6. you are missing one person? ME. am coming home zed.am the man of nature, the only zambian zambian born with soccer in his legs.check it out .in no time.i will be the worlds most wanted.

  7. Mbesuma should be dropped full stop. He’s had more lives than a cat and he still cannot or will not pull himself together and carry out his professional duties to the full capacity of his talents.

    • The friendly that zed played with SA,Mbesuma was the best player that we had in the team. Why not consider his performance in the PSL to because he is performing well………………………….

  8. Once a pirate always a pirate

Power 90 and Chipolopolo Boys 2009

Mbesuma is having a difficult time in trying to resurrect his carreer, unfortunately things are not looking well for him . The burly strikker has not been able to see the first team action at his club and is facing strong competition from the huge selection of sundowns strikers. Furthermore, the striker also need to prove to HR that is better than new chipolopolo young stars like Mayuka ,Singuluma, Sakahuwa and Kola. We like you but sport is about competition

    • Clifford is a better player than most of these chibuku drinking chaps. Am surprised Misheck Lungu is still playing.

  9. Clifford is indeed a better player. Anybody with a reason why this young man has been left out or is it the Kalusha Bwalya factor at play.

    • Clifford is very rude thats why he is left out beside kalusha fears that the young man can make a name surpassing him

    • Zambia are going for a defensive play no wonder it is full of defenders and midfielders. The strikers selected are those that can also defend.

  10. If I were Renard Herve I would have sacrificed Stophira,Chivuta or Sakuwaha for Speedy Cifford Mulenga. While we doubt on which players are regular Cliford is the hottest and most sort player in the PSL. The game against the Pharaohs will be very physical and pacey so Clifford and Felix would keep them busy.
Nyambe has to learn the ropes. I wonder why he has left out utility player Francis “Mr Reliable” Kasonde.

  11. I think it’s okey for Clifford to be left out for, all we need are serious boys in the likes of Felix, Kalaba who can even score as mid fielders.Next time against Rwanda

  12. Cliff should have been included. I don’t know why this guy does not like Cliff, his left foot is as wicked as Great Kalu’s and his vision on the ball can match any world class player. Why, why? Mbesuma, I will not even waste my time because some of these boys when you give them piece of advice, they think that you are just jealous, teapa nomba….he should just go back to Luanshya and continue buying chibuku for the whole tarven. Plus ba shi mine nakalepuka, chibuku is in badly needed ku Roan.

  13. if clifford was as desciplined as mayuka he was going to be a best player even in the world but the young boy thinks he has reached his goals by being in south africa shame

  14. Clifford, though traunt and indisciplned person can make wonders. Even the so called great Kalu at one time was cinsiderd to be traunt. Even now he hasn’t changed. You can see how he has snubbed NSCZ summon. All what we need is to bury the Pharaohs in their tombs in their pyramids.

  15. MR Herve Renard…..PLease Please, include Clifford. No one player is greater than a nation. Look at Rooney, even when he was silly Rooney, he was still included in the teams, and now he has grown up. Please, we need this boy…. Include him before we start calling for your blood!

    • Ba madala, the bazungus in was it Portsmouth, once said it, ati the guy was a bad buy, we should have marked their words. He just doesn’t seem to have the physique any more. Poor thing!

  16. good line up. its good mbesuma is left out mayb in future assignments he might improve bt i doubt it though. whats important now is Zambia needs to win against epgyt…end of story
