Government leaders have been commended for their efforts in fighting and mitigating the effects of HIV/AIDS in Kazungula district.
Songwe Basic School Deputy Head Teacher, Conrad Miyanda said government leaders and their counterparts in the private sector had performed extremely well in fighting HIV/AIDS by availing adequate information on how best the country could prevent contracting the deadly pandemic.
Mr. Miyanda said this in an interview with ZANIS in Livingstone today.
Mr. Miyanda has however, called on government to help communities in rural areas to establish committees that would ensure continuity in supplementing government efforts in maintaining awareness about HIV and positive living.
He also urged government to continue supporting the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in the area of mobile video shows aimed at educating the masses on issues of national importance.
He said the community in Songwe had greatly benefited from the video shows and people of all ages were able to easily access information that helped them make informed decisions on matters that were relevant for their wellbeing.
Mr. Miyanda said since the introduction of the video shows in his area, people had undergone reformation in the form of positive behavioral change.

keep up the good work, let me read now
This is what we want to hear not the Dora Explorer stories all the time. this is new worth reading. hey you bloggers comments plz.
Impressive, but some impeccable sources have revealed that “around 1,300 people died of AIDS in Zambia in 2008, making the SYNDROME being the leading cause of death, ahead of malaria. Some 38,000 new cases of HIV infection were diagnosed during the year”. Such information is what Zambians need to know so that they can help fight the spread of HIV and the AIDS.
While I appreciate the efforts by those showing mobile videos, I believe that leaflets in many different languages spoken and read in Zambia must be produced and given to all reachable Zambians at home and abroad.
At the above indicate rate that new infections were diagnosed last year, the GRZ must act seriously on this.
Maestro
You are also a Zambian why dont you put your ideas into action instead of limiting them to his page? The fight for AIDS is for all of us.
4. Mikomfwa, I am pleased to inform you that I am actively involved in the fight against HIV/AIDS and this is why I put up the statistics and information above.
Thus, my actions on fighting HIV/AIDS are to diffuse information like I have done above, carefully use needles and sharp objects avoiding unnecessary cuts of my body system, and also abstain from misbehaving with women until the time when I will get married by God’s grace. I have also been trumpeting the message of “Abstinence ili che” on LT and elsewhere as I abstain from all activities that have potential to compromise my perceiving and thinking capacity at any one time.
Clear focus always is thus cardinal for all in this…
