Share

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) spokesperson, Timothy Moono says the commission has nabbed a police officer in Livingstone for graft.

Mr. Moono identified the officcer as Sergeant Muyoti Mundia aged 48, of House No.5, Victoria Falls Jack Compound.

He said the policeman was arrested yesterday by the ACC for soliciting K500,000.00 from the named employee of Muja Clearing and Forwarding Agency as reward for having released him from police custody.

Mr. Moono said the suspect was nabbed after investigation revealed that he received K250,000.00 as balance money which was later retrieved from him.

Mundia has been formerly charged for one count of corruption practices by public officer contrary to section 29[1] of the ACC Act.

He has been released on bond and will appear in court on 29th April 2009 for plea.

  1. What do you expect from a policeman who gets less than a million per month plus a risk allowance of K1,500????? Buchushi bonse ubu!

  2. This is not news. It is news when a Policeman is NOT nabbed for graft in a week! Chabipa Bo Mundia. Your own collegues will now tell you to “pombosola belt elo useluke munsapato!”

  3. Policemen!!!!! I really dnt know hw much corruption will arise after the recruitment of 1,500 officers in May…….Kaya

  4. “PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda should wear sack-cloth, fast and repent if the abominable acts by South African sangomas [traditional healers] in Zambia are to be cleansed, a Pentecostal pastor has said.”

Zambia is a dumping ground for all nonsense. How does one expect real economic development with such backwardness-superstition supported by the whole lot of RB?

  5. Baby C, Ba Police balishupa. Like Zoe has said, you can imagine offloading 1,500 more corrupt chaps on our streets in may. Twafwa! Pantu nomba, even reporting a break in at your own house to the police, kano umuchekeleko!

  6. Baby C, well said…this cop does not mean bad..he is just trying to survive and take care of his family. Look where he lives ,in Victoria falls Jack compound….is that a police camp or what? Ba kapokola nomba bekala muma compound?

  7. On “Mr. Moono said the suspect was nabbed after investigation revealed that he received K250,000.00 as balance money which was later retrieved from him. In fact, this reminds of the INFORMATION of Ms Siliya being treated well if she offered ZTE a contract that came from a State House official who claimed to have been sent by Mrs M. Mwanawasa.
    Let us all be equal.

  8. 9 continued.
Equality in treatment by applying the laws of Zambia is what will give the whole world confidence that we are serious about the fight against corruption and not merely the fight against political opponents and the normal Citizens who do not have a political high public offices.
Thus, let the ACC carry out a serious inquiry over the INFORMATION above from the DORA SAGA TRIBUNAL.
Back to the story/news, hats off to the ACC for a jolie job done so far in this case.

  9. 10. Shame this guy has been a pain to locals.Let the law take its course and this will teach a lesson to those that are wanting**==
    Well done ACC

  11. Tubeko serious. There are people who are getting less than K600pin but tababamo mufyabunjeke. What we forget is that limbi uyu muntu has mayinini somewhere whom he has to pay rent for, cellphone top-up, food and moba. Besides that he might be an just an “exe” amongst ba buju so he would want to keep up appearances. There are a lot of factors. So instead of supporting him to say he gets umuchanga uunono, he may be just a nuisance.

  12. Shame!! For your own information this case will not go anywhere. This innocent and kind policeman was just targetted by these little failures. First and foremost, how did this police officer sign the bond for the clearing office? Why did this clearing officer ask the officer to be his surity? What was the initial agreement between the officer and the clearing officer? These two guys had an agreement when the agent was in detention. Now that he is out of kalyati achenjela… This guy reported the friend who help him. If this is the way corruption will be fought in Zed then we wont go anywhere. These guys were supposed to be arrested together.

  13. Mundia waswabisa… Dont be a sitting duck when you do these things. We all have problems but be sharp when you want to mess up. Your colleagues are collecting, but they think. We know a lot of them are corrupt. You thot coz Levy is no more then you can be an illegal taxman? Ulimbe boyi. Kibutata!
