The Evangelical Youth Alliance Center (EYAC) has commended the Catholic Church for relieving Father Frank Bwalya off his duties as station manager at Radio Icengelo in Kitwe.
EYAC Reverend, Moses Lungu said the Catholic Church has taken the right step because it has a responsibility of maintaining peace and unity in the country.
Rev. Lungu added that the church was not expected to sit back and watch wrong things happening, adding that the church has an obligation to support the republican President.
He said the church is a holy institution and it is not suppose to be critise the government of the day but offer constructive criticism.
He has since called upon all the churches in the country to support President Banda and his leadership.
Reverend Lungu was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today
And Some Samfya residents have welcomed the decision by Ndola Catholic Bishop Noel Oregon to ask outspoken Catholic priest Fr Frank Bwalya to step down as station manager for radio Chengelo in Kitwe.
One of the residents John Mwale said the decision is welcome, although as a Christians and member of the Catholic Church he had expected bishop Oregon to take action much earlier against Fr Bwalya.
Mr Mwale said as a priest Fr Bwalya was supposed to use his position at the radio station to reconcile people.
He said instead of reconciling people the priest was clearly showing political biasness and was inciting people on the Copperbelt to rise against government.
“I as a Christian, just like many others, expected bishop Oregon to take action against Chengelo station manager Fr Frank Bwalya much earlier. Nevertheless, what the bishop has done is what Christians expected,” Mr Mwale said.
And another resident, Kupa Kunda, said it is good that the Catholic Church system itself has decided to remove Fr. Bwalya.
Yesterday Fr Frank Bwalya confirmed receiving a request from Ndola bishop Oregon asking him to step down as station manager for the catholic run radio station, Chengelo.
Some sections of Society have complain against Fr. Bwalya programmes on Radio Chengelo which have been critical of President Rupiah Banda’s government.

Evangelicals – lay off Catholics. At least Fr. Bwalya is man enough to challenge the wrongs in Zambias. The rest of us just blog.
EYAZ is a useless organisation, they go begging with a big bowl to RB.Fack them!!
MosesLungu is fake,he doesn’t even have a grade 12 certificate,he once tried getting one from Katondo so he could get a job at DEC as a chaplain.I know this fake pastor in and out.MMD then sent him to China for a brief course on Zambian tax payers money.Ask me more I’ll tell you!!
Fr. Bwalya just form a political party co’s i agree with u when u talked about the big cabinet and that they should stop the post of deputy ministers to save money for finance our schools, hospitals and build better roads, but you were in the wrong place when saying all that period!
Tell us more #3!!
Ba Fr. fimo fimo nomba ni jobless. Limo limo these priest should measure what comes out of their mouths. Your own church has condemned you former Fr. Bwalya. Mwalisamwine sana tata.
That’s funny, how do you commend someone for laying off another? If it’s not gloating then it must be resentment.
Reverend Lungu , you should be the last person to comment on this ,you are not any better……. remember at times there is great wisdom in silence.
These evangelicals are like Nevers Mumba, do you think they care about the suffering of people? A Lungu, God will punish you for your sins, greed, and failure to tell the truth when it is necessary. The all commending thing is sickening. These are the same fools who have remained quiet on the issue of Dora Siliya and her corrupt behavior. What right do they have to commend job loss for a people’s person? GOD WILL STRIKE THEM. Evil doers.
God will strike Lungu for his Evil behavior support
Ba Mrs Stevens, are you married to MMD officials or a beneficiary of their illegal acts? I feel for you. Remember time is closing up on you. By the way, how does Lungu differentiate between not critizing the government of the day but offer constructive criticism? Where on earth is the Church meant to support the president of the day? Lungu don’t take us to German. By the way, which school did you attend? Simple logic will do.
one old catholic man just quipped “UKUBA KWENA NANKWE ALELUFYANYA FINTU TWAMWEBELEPO” i even remembered an old proverb my mom used to tell us. Umwana ashumfwa amenene umwefu kwikoshi. That’s the same with the DIE ZAMBIA patron.
Some of you guys need English lessons. DIE ZAMBIA does not mean he wanted Zambia to die or to kill Zambians. He said CHANGE or DIE ZAMBIA. Simple English, meaning if you don’t change as you seem like need to, you will not survive. Example is Zimbabwe. That is the meaning of that term.
#6, he is a priest and will be getting the benefits of a priest so he is not jobless but his duties as station manager have been lifted. he never entered the catholic own radio station as a manager but as a priest cum manager.anyway, the mmd has scored on this one but for how long will voices of the poor be heard?if the church can falter in times like this, what of worst cases ahead of us cos the crunch is still around and it will take developed countries to first resuscitate before we follow suit.
Rev Moses Lungu, what are you doing in society other than asking for alms for your organisation? The Church cannot sit down and support a wrong cause no matter what happens. Dont misquote Paul when he alludes to people obeying authorities. If govt is not buying medicines for the hospitals how can you support it even when you know that they have money for their personal emoluments? why shud they bring developmental projects when an election is loaming like they are trying to do in Mpulungu just becoz Chibombamilimo is on the chopping board? And you call yourself a reverand, leading Gods people and you are happy father bwalya has been removed yet you fail to comment on the blood thirst MMD people calling for bwalyas blood. dont use double standards as God hates such acts
am a christian am a christian, so does that mean as long as you are one you will let people get away with doing wrong? if so i think i will become a muslim because atleats with them they do not tolerate injustices such as the ones father bwalya was speaking out about. my beautiful zambia, when are going to learn that sitting back and wishing for a better tomorrow will not ever solve our problems. Ok tell me does it not say in the bible that God helps those who help themselves? one thing that should be realised though is that by removing father Bwalya from the ost he held millions of people have had their voice silenced. and for all of you out there who seem to be happy with this outcome, why is it that every one that has acces to private media resources is silenced by the government?
this is just the mmd trying to stop free press from reaching the people. let us say no to the propaganda that they feed us through the state owned media. there is no way that the press can always have good things to say about the president and the government. something is not in that instance. and why is it every time free media in the country speaks out they want to shut them down, come on where is the freedom of speech? its a shame really because all we have now is the boring znbc, times of zambia and the daily mail, all churning out rubbish government propaganda
Tuntemba Church dont comment on what you dont know
The problem with some of you commenting is that you have never even head Fr. Bwalya speaking. You only read it from the Post who had a specific agenda from Fr. Bwalyas messages. His talk is so ordinary and he pinpoints specific issues. The problem with us Zambians is that we are just too afraid of change. “Kwaya umwela eko twalola”. The moment we learn the art of switching governments, then we will get Zambian Politicians to work.
Wrong or rightly the church has proved that it listens!!!! How many calls have come to have $silly Her to be suspended at least? The only thing that we have head from our president and his vice is defence. Defending the wrong all the time. Let them has MMD displine their rogues, or at least take them to a school of thought so that they can utter well thought utterances. It is not your win as MMD the removal of Fr. Bwalya, but you should remember Fr Bwalya was not the first there Was Fr. Alick Daka(Late) and will not be the last!!!!! Remember from the oppressed one is born that will became an oppressor!!! Clean your acts as MMD and come out clean on every evil don’t use the clergy who cannot stand on their own to speak for you. You don’t know who is coming at ICHENGELO this time .
Freedom of speech in Zambia is thwarted every single day, even on this blog they scrutinise our postings because they are afraid of the Demon they call RB and his MMD government.Unless young Zambian can rise like Fr.Bwalya and speak we are headed for doom, the Zimbabwe way were all forms of opinions against an irresponsible government are seen as a threat to their plunder. Most so called youth leaders in Zambia are pathetic and greedy and say everything in support of the government so they can be paid.People like Kelvin Sampa, Moses Lungu even threatened my life when I lived in Zambia for expressing different views.Thisblog has many youths who think for as long as they have eaten, even people in Misisi,Chibolya have also eaten.Shame on all of you!!
Nice news. On ‘Some sections of Society have complain against Fr. Bwalya programmes on Radio Chengelo which have been critical of President Rupiah Banda’s government’, it is possible that PF cadres are the ones reported here-in. I just wish then all the very best as they find another place to campaign for the Undereducate since father Bwalya has been cut to size for trying to disturb the peace and unity Zambia has been enjoying since gaining Independence.
Atleast he had the gutts to speak against The RB Administration
this is what always happens to the gud guys
# 22 Maestro, you come out like a person thats learned but its a shame that you think criticising the evils of the MMD is a bad thing just because you are benefiting from them. What have your so called educated Demons in MMD done to improve the lives of ordinary Zambians? Facko!!
You think having no job ( forget the credit crunch its new) in Zambia it makes no facking difference.Having no clean piped water, 3 balanced meals,a descent roof over ones heard is something 85% of Zambians don’t know exits.A Degree is just a sheet of paper,Bill Gates doesn’t have one,so stop singing educated, uneducated on this blog.Zambians need,Shelter, jobs, food, affordable education,NOT peoples degrees!!
