PF Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has claimed that government will not announce the name of a new investor for Luanshya mine until after August.

Mr. Kambwili also accused Mines minister Maxwell Mwale of corruption for bribing the two mine workers’ unions in Luanshya during a press conference held at his residence.

He said Mr.Mwale has been bribing the Mines Union of Zambia (MUZ) and National union of miners and allied workers(NUMAW) Roan branch officials to side with the government on an investor he named for Luanshya Copper Mine (LCM).

Mr. Kambwili challenged the minister to come out in the open and challenge him on whether he did not receive an undisclosed sums of money from LCM chief executive officer Derek Webstock which he used to bribe the union officials.

Mr. Kambwili also accused the officials forsaking their fellow miners because of the bribes and compromised on pressurizing government to announce an investor to take over the min

He said a named MUZ branch official told him that the minister gave them K1 million each to help government calm the miners.

He called on the MUZ Roan branch officials to apologise to their fellow miners and to him, for neglecting the Luanshya community.

He further warned the Police command that they will be fired once PF takes over Government in 2011 for their partiality.

  5. When you come to think of it, I think PF is a good oppostion party and they should remain to be so eternally. I mean, they bring out some issues which one may regard as trivial but they help the ruling party to check what they are doing. The only problem is that they should have added S for their party to be PFS, with the full name being Patriotic Front with Sarcasm. That does not take away their effort in bringing ruling parties’ misdeeds to the knowledge of the public but it just underpins nature of lacking etiquette, respect for other human beings and to some extent common sense.

  6. An MP is elected by the people of a particular constituency , and the members belong to different political parts and the majority non -partisan . The point above is valid , certainly it is not King snake`s view but the people of Hon Kambwili`s constituency , he really needs our support…Though the aspects of firing the police is very image denting , you do not threaten professionals …… This should explain why them PF be in opposition perpetually still thy kingdom come

  8. #7, Ba Musonda Wesu, Pardon me but you resemble my son.. believe it or or not and no offence meant…
I worked in Mpatamato… that township which is separated from Roan township by a graveyard in between, It had good mine shafts , but I wonder if any investor can have a second look at it.. Baluba Mines would be a good investment for any innovative investor..

Stay well and blogg well…I have followed most of your postings… You are one of the brilliant geniuses besides 1984 (a genuie in a bottle)…

  15. To Hon Chishimba Kambwili and PF in general, you are the Govt -in -waiting. Please tone down. Remember Levy did not threaten that he will disclose the Chiluba -Chungu Zamtrop Account Matrix before he became president nor did Obama say he would disclose the Gtmo and other related bad deeds of Bush -the diabolical one. We all know what Policy – shift would be implemented by PF once given chance to goven. The Hon better say ” PF will do want will be in the interest of the people who are the employers of MPs, Ministers and State President”. Let them exercise muximum Diplomacy. The Police in Zambia are not Corrupt but are just poorly paid.

  17. #23 wiseman-reborn, spot on. But why should he be given a chance to mature if he says he is an experienced politician and especially now that he is old? Have people bothered compare his age with KK’s age as at 1996 when people like the king were mocking KK to say he should retire because he was old? I think his “perceived” productive age regarding politics has passed he should try something else, may be being a consultant.

  19. Bring her to me,then you can have me tamed…lol

I don’t know if I continue, even today, always liking myself. But what I learned to do many years ago was to forgive myself. It is very important for every human being to forgive herself or himself because if you live, you will make mistakes- it is inevitable. But once you do and you see the mistake, then you forgive yourself and say, ‘well, if I’d known better I’d have done better,’ that’s all. So you say to people who you think you may have injured, ‘I’m sorry,’ and then you say to yourself, ‘I’m sorry.’ If we all hold on to the mistake, we can’t see our own glory in the mirror because we have the mistake between our faces and the mirror; we can’t see what we’re capable…

  20. You can ask forgiveness of others, but in the end the real forgiveness is in one’s own self. I think that young men and women are so caught by the way they see themselves. Now mind you. When a larger society sees them as unattractive, as threats, as too black or too white or too poor or too fat or too thin or too sexual or too asexual, that’s rough. But you can overcome that. The real difficulty is to overcome how you think about yourself. If we don’t have that we never grow, we never learn, and sure as hell we should never teach.

  21. i can be changed by what happens to me. but i refuse to be reduced by it.If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. My change will only follow from the change of altitude of the bloggers. They should learn to respect ones opinion wether positive or negative, for every man has a right to be wrong in his opinions. But no man has a right to be wrong in his facts.

  22. Kambwili never cease to amze me.As a lawmaker,if he has evidence of corruption againt the minister,he must present that evidence to the ACC for possible charges and prosecutions instead of petty bickering (Talk is too cheap Mr kambwili, just act and people will appreaciate your efforts). The problem is,he is embroiled in a political philosophy that preaches that standing on an anthill and trade unfounded allegations hell-bent on character assassination is the only way of being popular, wrong! He should refrain from behaving like a bullying demagogue and work with the new investors for the good of Luanshya people.

  23. Its amazing some Zambians still think the undereducate as some bloggers call him can still be president. People, PF has a number of vibrant young people who can not only change their cadership image but also provide stable leadership. Sata has never been and would never be presidential material and especially of this century. PF supporters swallow this one!! i dont mean to offend anyone but just wish that people can be time sensitive and take our country’s future seriously.

  24. LT, your story does not say why Mr. Kambwili is threatening to get rid of the police command should his party come to power in 2011. You should have also gotten a reaction from the police, to hear their side.

  25. It is really sad state of affaires in Luanshya and the general CB. People are really suffering. I hear prices of commodities are sky rocketing in Zambia. I think Zambians we should do something to stop our country deteriorating further. Here in Sweden prices of food have almost remained the same since the world economic crisis started. I can say, I have not experienced it here for things look the same. This is a country that has given more effort to serving its people. It’s a country with mixed economy. I wonder why as poor as we are went for pure capitalism. Now these are the pay-offs we are receiving – ever deterioration of the economy. Mwelesa twafweni.

  30. Ba Kambwili, prove yo allegations or shut up, character assassination is really base and exposes your weakening hold on Luanshya! Just becoz unions see more sense in GRZ as opposed to you doesnt mean the’ve been compromised. The actually have more brain than you. Leave the minister alone, he’s doing his best coz he feels for the miners (he’s one afterall, albeit a professional one!)
