Algeria have secured a fantastic 2-0 win away from home in Zambia.
The Desert Foxes won the opening game of the 2010 qualifying weekend in style.
The win gives them seven points from three matches so far and puts them on top of Group C.
Algeria opened the scoring in Chililabombwe through Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra.
They then weathered an impressive fight-back from the home team, with several chances for the Chipolopolo going begging.
The Desert Foxes extended their lead on the breakaway in the 66th minute.
Substitute Rafik Saifi had an easy finish after great work by Rafik Djebbour.
Zambia continued to create chances but they were not able to convert them and the defeat means they lose ground in the race to South Africa 2010.
The other two teams in Group C, Egypt and Rwanda, both with just one point so far, have a game in hand – their match this weekend was postponed because of Egypt’s participation in the Confederations Cup.

The participation in world cup games remains a dream yet to be fulfilled
Fire the coach! We are doomed

Thats what Zambia can produce when expected to deliver. Dear bloggers, remind my points of view, never put your trust in Chipolopolo! When you want them to win that when they loose, but you do not expect anything that when they win.So, what do you do? expect nothing from then then you will get something desirable.
By having this belief, you will never have heart attacks.
The curse of a football nation…
I think someone put a curse on the team…..SERIOUSLY
Yaba! Bushe tukacitapo qualify ku world cup? It will be a bit hard for zambia now.To be beaten by Algeria at our own backyard is very frustrating and uninspiring!
What is it that the lads do during training coz they dont utilize scoring opportunities like corners, poor off-side traps etc
Losing to Algeria has been a terrible outcome but not all is lost yet.Failure is not fatal but how we react from such a setback matters.Algeria is surely beatable going by the number of clear cut chances we created against them. There`re times even great teams like Man U fail to find the back of the net on certain days but they bounce back in classic fashion. We`re therefore down but not out and the road to SA 2010 is still wide open.
Always firing the coach and yet the ones that need to be fired are players
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds win
NOT ALL HOPE IS LOST THOUGH THE LOSS IS A BITTER PILL TO SWALLOW. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GUYS. ALMOST ALL OF THEM SIMPLY FOUND IT EASY TO SEND THE BALLS HIGH AT GOAL. RENARD CAN YOU PLEASE TRAIN YOUR STRIKERS TO AIM LOWER NEXT TIME, WE MAY BE LUCKY. THE RESULT HAS ALSO VINDICATED MBESUMA BECAUSE WHAT WE LACK IS TEAM CONSISTENCY IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE. MBESUMA WISAKAMANA ABANOBE BAKULUBULA MWANA.
#3 don’t be stupid if you want to celebrate do it somewhere else, you are the same retards causing confusion! #2 the coach did his job, it was the lousy players that couldn’t convert their chances into goals. All we need is a consistent striker not ifyo mulelanda. nga twachi wina nga mwa chila nya nya fye ifisushi! i’ll always be proud of my beloved zambian team, through sun shine and stormy weather! Zambia ni zee!
I raise my finger in protest against those guys who are suggesting that the coach should be fired. For crying out loud, leave the coach alone!!
Looks like my trip to south africa next year is not going to happen . My children will probably be teenagers when I can go to the worldcup with zambia playing
ZAMBIA WILL RISE AGAIN, DONT RULE IT OUT YET. IT WASNT OUR DAY.
THE GOOD TIMES LAY AHEAD OF US. WHT A DAY!
I don’t know why many Zambian fans cry a lot and condemn the team each time they lose.If you follow the national team closely you will know that every game they play is just 50:50.For the past 10 years,Zambia has not made great strides in their football and we are more or less stagnant.
A player or two pick up form and then fade away.I’m not saying that Zambia cannot make it to the 2010 world cup but our football is not at a level where you can correctly gauge the strength’s and abilities of the team with confidence. It’s more about luck than capability.
All I can say is hard luck and better luck next time. However we need to improve our local football leagues otherwise we should forget about producing the next Makinka’s,Mwitwa’s,Chikwalakwala, yellowman e.t.c
chipololo iye!!! chipololo iye!
condelences ba zambia
if you don’t have anything good to say, it’s better you shut up! pantu uletunfwisha fye ichifukushi! as if this is your first time seeing a team losing sure… maybe you yourself are a natural born looser who now wants to take out your anger on zambia! nangu tu wine nangu tu luse, iyee, iyee, tuli chipolopolo!!
Chimbwi no plan. The coach has stated that his main GAME PLAN is not the world cup but africa cup. Now that we know our status let us be OBJECTIVE and start preparing now for 2016 world cup. Africa cup is not necessarily an issue though it has become very competitive to qualify as well. Tileke majelas and sanje like SIMATA SIMATA and others. KALU for FAZ president until you die. Thats how football has developed in other countries. You dont contest elections for the sEk of it. It is retardes football at times. We dont need new coach or a new look Faz or players unless where need be. Let the current FAZ continue up to 2016 and beyond. mwaumfwa ba SIMATA na ba nzanu.
Same old old story
Zambia losing to Algeria is not unusual news. We have always been the ‘almost there but not’. I suspect our fitness levels have always been not up to desired levels – fitness is not only about training for matches but also what you do when you are not playing and what you eat. I am also sceptical about the current coach. I think he is just one of the ‘also rans’. When did we last have a high profile coach?
mouloud kiss a**..
We cant blame the coach he has done what the best coaches could have done. The players are to be blamed for this game and its result.
I TOLD YOU THAT WE HAVE THIS WEAKNESS OF LEAVING OUR CHANGES TO PERMUTATIONS OF “IF SO AND SO BEATS THAT ONE, THEN THIS AND THAT…..” BUT HERE IS THE TRUTH, JACOB MULENGA HAS COST US A LOT, ALL HIS SHORTS ARE PARARREL TO THE GOAL POST. PLEASE BRING BACK HARRY MILANZI, HE’S BEEN TOPPING THE SCORER’S CHAT IN ANGOLA FOR TWO SEASONS AND HAS THE TENACITY A STRIKER NEEDS TO DELIVER!!
zambia was definately the better team. but football is also a thinking gaming. 1. you can’t always use the long ball when your opponent is taller than you. 2. wild shots on goal every chance you get 3. whole team attacking and not remembering the counter attack. We have skillful players but its not only about playing but understanding the game.
not all is lost, if we can win the remaining games then we may qualify. Algeria is beatable and today was just not our day.
THE ATMOSPHERE HERE IN BLOEMFONTEIN IS ELECTRIC. ITS THE FIRST TIME DURING THE CONFED CUP THAT ALL TICKETS HAVE BEEN SOLD OUT. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE IN ORDER, I THINK RSA HAS DONE A GOOD JOB IN THE ORGANISATION OF THIS WHOLE TOURNAMENT. THE GAME WILL BE ON IN THE NEXT 20 MINS AND THE FANS HERE ARE WILD. IVE SEEN A COUPLE OF ZEDIANS, LOOKS LIKE THEY DONT KNOW WHERE TO BUY CHEAP TICKETS BECAUSE THEY ARE SEATED IN THE HIGH COST WHEN OTHER AREAS ARE MORE STRATEGIC. I GUESS THEY HAVE EXTRA $100.00 TO SPARE. MAYBE THEY ARE KAPOKO CHAPS.
hey you brothers stop hurting and hating on here…..Zambian footy is just like this…..meanwhile just take my sisters (your wives and ????) out and chill!
Let’s be true to ourselves. We’ve made this journey tough for ourselves, now let’s look ahead: If Rwanda held Algeria to draw in Kigali(which we failed to do at home), and they also almost held us to a draw in Zambia it means we can look forward to a tough game in Rwanda. If Algeria hammered us 2-0 in Zambia and we have our return match with them in Algeria where they hammered Egypt 3-1 (who have just hammered Italy 1-0 and almost beat Brazil in the confed cup), we can be sure of another tough game in Algeria. Now, considering the way Algeria thrushed us at home and given Egypt’s current form I am also not so hopeful of a win. So, given this senario we need to find a way of reconstituting our frontline. Our midfield improved considerably in the Algeria match compared with the Rwanda…
Let us not loose heart but support our team. Thats soccer, you win some you lose some. Yaba still boys home ground games you should win.
# 1 Ngwee , in soccer they say you are as good as the last game. Those statistics are not reliable. It is possible for Rwanda to qualify for 2010 if they win all the remaining games. so the story of Algeria did what at home or away does not hold. If Zambia can pull up thier socks they can come to RSA.
Congrats Algeria for winning. As for the Chipolopolo boys, not all is lost and let us make sure we go and beat Algeria at their home ground. We can do it just the way the Algerians did it today.

Wow, ka Mukandeke looks really cool!
How you doing?
my greetings to the people of Zambia
one two three viva algeria I think it is a great achievement for our team this year algeria
LT you must recognise the sources of your articles….You did a copy and paste from BBC website and you dont even give credit…..bakamikaka pofye! So LT you mean you could not even give your own summary of the game which took place in Zambia??? This is laziness!
i do not know what to say
Sembe, in Zambia, will it ever finish?
#35 Well said….
LT is in lusaka yet they couldnt even analyse the game on there on
That has cast a dark cloud over our country and I can feel it heavily so 5000miles away from home. Algeria appears to be a hard nut to crack. They not only relegated us in 1985 at the Lusaka’s independence staduim but also humiliated a team(Egypt) that beat the current world champions(Italy) in the on going confederation cup matches 72 hours ago. They have something to defend and we will have something to prove in a near-suicidal way when we meet them at there home soil not so long from now. No need to have a defeatist attitude well done lads.
Tables can and should certainly turn in Algeria when you carry our national flag on that day. More on that later. Cheers Bye!!!!
WHY CAN’T WE GET RID OF ALL THOSE BLUNT STRIKERS!!!!!!JACOB MULENGA,NI RUGBY?WHAT HAS JACOB EVER DONE FOR THE TEAM BUT WE INSIST ON PLAYING HIM.ALL ZAMBIA NEEDZ IS A DETERMINED KILLER SRIKER,OTHERWISE THE TEAM IS OK
This is a disaster. How can we loose 2-0 at home. A draw could have been more decent. Where does it leave us in terms of qualifying. I know Egypt is catching up with us after Rwanda game. The remainig games need to be worn at all costs. Lets not rely on how other teams perform. This is very sad.
Am not a soccer fimo fimo but your team selection in Zambia lucks common sense. You select players based on where they play club football not on current form. E.g why is that guy who was top scorer at CHAN not starting in your line-up since he was top scorer in a very recent tornament???? I doubt that Jacob of yours is on fire in france????? Mbesuma was put in a team that played Rwanda when he is doing nothing in RSA and even given the responsibility to take penalties….you ended up drawing a game you should have won.
Lack of common kanongobility….cry on! let me get my hut sun is shinning outside!
All these bad lucky is because of Ruphiah. The boys had best skill, but no morale among soccer fans. How can one a cheer a match when yesterday was on strike, and thinking of monday on weather will be fired or if Thandiwe will demand a ministerial post too?
But people Felix Katongo has game. With Kalaba in mind is simply mavelous. Felix can play in Arsenal with no problem at all. And that Chivuta guy!? Where does he play? Send him to Italy please. People we should learn to watch soccer, Zambia lost but had best game ever.
#43 “E.g why is that guy who was top scorer at CHAN not starting in your line-up since he was top scorer in a very recent tornament????”
Given Singulama started the game and was removed coz he couldn’t produce it two games so far!!!
The main problem with Zambian football is that it is mainly left to one class of people. Those considered to have failed to make it with education and employment. What this means is people who can think strategically are missing. Everyone is busy counting what one will get after the game for his survival. Second, the physical built of individuals is not very good. This also affects what Zambia can do physically. With good training, good physic, and good mental capacity, no one can doubt Zambia. Once in a while, Zambia produces someone with good physic, (Chitalu, Zoom, Mbesuma, Efford etc), good mental capacity (Kalusha, Charles Musonda , Alex Chola) and you have seen how they caused havoc. If mbesuma had brains, he would have been an assert in the game , but see his mental capacit
Two-Zero at homeground? That is just too much. Our players are young, but they run like they have heavy things in between their legs, how can they score? Before the game they could either be drinking or seeing girls (To them that is home advatage-women and beer). Let them play all the remaining games away. Zambians have enough problems already, it won’t help matters to see your players being beaten at home.
Zambia should a new national wide recruitment. Pick people who when trained properly can crack any team. Then put them on a national training program for two years. physically train them, technically prepare them. May invite the army to give infuse in some combat training so that they can start thinking in tactics as though it was a real war. Before long you will have a team too strong to push around by any African team. Too brilliant to cheat in tactics. And if they can avoid self destructive behavoiur of alchol and girls, then they will be too desplined to trick. Stop waiting for chances and start working for it. Maybe Zambian leadrership is the first problem. Zambia is a good country, but decision by leadership is always questionable.
By ow you would lead in many areas, but ?

All hope is not lost. If a team can beat you at home the lesson is that you can also beat them at their home. Remember the South Africa Zambia tussles? If the boys believe they can win they will win in Algeria.
Sad to lose at base. However, bring players like MILANZI and Billy MWANZA .They may have crossed with KALUSHA BWALYA but they are more fit and ready than the Chivuta make! So my appeal is let the coach look at MILANZI and call him to help sharpen the striking force.
We still have chance to get to the world Cup 2010. The COACH is Great but the Pitch also NEEDS ATTENTION. Please government work on the Chililabombwe Pitch, It is so pathetic.
Go Zambia GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#43 you look fimo fimo.the coach messed up period.
Major setback but not all is lost. The guys should take the challenge ahead of them with more intent to score, team work and above all a better understanding of the game.chipolopolo for life!!!!!!!!!!!!
FAZ should also be demufulirised.ka kalusha has brought politics in football.the entire FAZ assistant coach team doctor are all mufulira chaps.
One thing that suprised me is just how these boys used to miss the goal post as big as it is.but if they are with their whores in the rooms having sex they dont miss the target even if there is no electricity.batontapofye straight.
Same old story. Am not shocked nor disappointed becoz I expected it. The fact is, we dont ve the quality in our players to compete with teams like Algeria. They ve players who are ‘starters’ in Europe’s good clubs. Look at our Chris Katongo, his team was last on the log in Germany and has been demoted to lower division. And that’s our main man playing in a lousy team yyyaaak. We are just a bad side and we shouldnt even entertain the idea of ever paying in the world cup finals. Football in Zambia died with the sale of mines and council houses were finances to sponsor teams were coming from. We shall ccontinue leaking our wounds and crying all the time. Besides we are associated with bad things in Zambia, who cares?
Zoona, the moment i take some time off, they lose! I think its time I opened a soccer academy….wonder how many more billion are in the slush fund….gotta call Dora too.
It is because of RB. Fire Rupiah Banda. LOL. Anyway I wouldn’t like Zambia to go to the World Cup under MMD and Rupiah Banda in particular. MMD will turn the success with Teta, Mpombo, Mulongoti and Shikapwasha thinking MMD coached the team well. And villagers will believe them.
Zoona, the moment i take some time off, they lose! I think its time I opened a soccer academy….wonder how many more billion are in the slush fund….gotta call Dora too.
I just saw Mbesuma ale seka !! We always pretend like we are this great team. Na draw ku Egypt everybody including presido behaved like a win.
Back to earth bane Zambia Makula period.
that was a crushing loss but what can we do but dust ourselves off and focus on the task at hand. We may have lost the battle but we are still far from losing the war. Algeria humiliated Egypt. They were never going to roll over for Zambia.I still feel that the combination of players still leaves much to be desired. There’s still a number of weeks left till the next match. The technical bench need to watch the videos of our matches and our opponents matches. Meanwhile,Nifwe Zambia! we shouldnt give up on our boys!
Very fickle funs we have here. Very fickle indeed. Only goes to show how patriotic Zambians are! Even the Welsh who know they have no chance of making it to the world cup have an ounce of belief. Abena Zambia. No wonder mufisamina ati you are not from Zambia. How fickle!
#62 One of the very few I have seen on here being patriotic. Ukulanda uko not bambi! Iyeee! Aba bana!
Now people are even bringing politics into football. Onewould have thoght for a person to be here they should rise about politics but awe shuwa!
Rise above politics!
THANX FOR YOUR OBSERVATIONS # 36 AND 39. WHAT SORT OF MEDIA CANNOT EVEN ANALYSE A SOCCER GAME. LT IS BEING UTTERLY LAZY, THEIR JOURNALISTS CANT EVEN COVER A GAME IN THEIR OWN BACK YARD. FANS NEEDS YOUR ANALYSIS SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE A FEEL OF WHAT THE GAME WAS LIKE AND WHAT THE OUT LOOK IS IN TERMS OF THE RESULTS. COME LT YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS. ALL YOUR ARTICLES SEEM TO BE QUOTED FROM OTHER SOURCES, WHY NOT GO A STEP FURTHER AND INCREASE YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO YOUR OWN MEDIA
We seen it all before
You mean all that training in south africa was a waste of time?why not go and camp in kalingalinga or chinsali.
Bad support at home ground thats why we dont win ama fans SCARE THE PLAYERS it’s like when u were a kid n yo mum is forcing LEMBA ISHANA LYOBE APA LEMBA…. NGA TA WA LEMBE NDE KULOPOLA na obviously even if u knew how to write……u wudn’t do it. zambians play better away becoz they don’t have the pressure to impress from fans…..don’t overexpect thats why coach is aiming for Afcon he has seen that it would take time to built a strong solid team though 2010 is an added bonus VIVA CHIPOLOPOLO
Sorry, but all the best next time Chipolopolo boys.

1Pe 3 + KJV Bible:
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
That’s what learning is, after all; not whether we lose the game, but how we lose and how we’ve changed because of it and what we take away from it that we never had before, to apply to other games. Losing, in a curious way, is winning.
Guys, one thing i will say as long as this Great Galu remains in soccer adminstration,we will achieve nothing. Why is Sinkala,Sichone,Milton,Dominic and many more players not included in the team.
Anyway soccer does not put bread on my table and maybe i will take up citizenship here but also bambala makula.
The Government should not waste money on these guys.just get a better local coach and callup experienced players.
Please jacob mulenga likula plaese look for better players.
Hi,
Zambia is a great football team, and they will surely be difficult to handle in Algiers…
Good luck Algeria
Let us focus on the next match in Algiers. This is football and we can overturn things lets just continue with our support. As for maloud #3 go sh_t yourself!
Too bad for the boys. How was the line up including the subs?
The results for the of the games will be: RWANDA 1, ZAMBIA 0; ZAMBIA 0, EGYPT 2; ALGERIA 3, ZAMBIA 0; So where does that leave us? With the proverbial story of: THE KING HAS NO CLOTHES. Come on guys, let’s face reality. Why do we believe that we can win? We are just there to make up the numbers. Wake up and smell the coffee. We are still far from being world beaters. By the way, in which team/ league do our best players feature?
LETS START TALKING POSITIVELY TO OUR TEAM REASON WE ALWAYS SAY SO IFI BA WINA BA ZAMBIA NEXT GAME BA KA LUSA AND THAT NEGATIVE TALK ALWAYS COME TRUE SO LETS CHANGE IF WE WANT TO SEE GOOD RESULTS..
Fire the coach, I stand to swallow my words as i always say, hire a national or put lwandamin in charge period, you will see what will happen. Sheehata, (Local), Dunga (Local, Marcelo Lippi (Local) even the spanish coach is loacl what is wrong with us!!!!
The national team is full of talent but even good talent when badly managed ends up being what it is today, chasing foxes! This coach is not very technical, he is very slow and low and does not read the game the way people like Aime Jacque of france read the game in 1998 to beat Brazil.
I watched that game live at Konkola Stadium. The reason we lost was that we couldn’t just score. Don’t blame the coach for the loss. The track record is clear in the previous game 2 games we have only scored 2 goals and people expected a cricket score? Our soccer standards as a nation have drastically fallen just look at the local KCM league and you gauge for yourself.
why we cannot score is because Zambia has stopped playing friendlies with other countries! Have you forgotten that even the Braizilian Coach in South Africa was fired when the team failed to score? Today, South Africa is doing fine because of international exposure! How many friendlies has Zambia lined up since Renard took over? How on earth can Uganda get more friendlies than Zambia? Please fire the coach!! The guy has failed! I repeat, fire the coach! We deserve better.
