Updated: Weekend Scorecard

High profile Zambian players are heading north for a change in search of better fortunes instead of their traditional destination of South Africa.

Power Dynamos defensive midfielder Francis Kasonde is  away on trials at an unnamed Egyptian 2nd division side.

He is the second Zambia international currently club-searching in Egypt.

Choma Eagles midfielder Kebby Hachipuka is also in Egypt for unspecified period hoping to clinch a deal in that country.

There has not been any Zambian players campaigning in Egypt since the late Fred Mwila jnr in 2001 who had brief and low profile spell with Zamalek.

  1. Our players to switch from south african leagues to egyptian leagues is breath of fresh air but it is still far less inspiring.I mean it will still take ages for our country to produce a high profile football player.I wonder if our players will even get the chance to play in the first teams in egypt.

  2. Ba LT shani ko tu ma league tables kaili, we want to see how kalampa is doing relative to nchanga rangers. looks like rangers is really on our tails now

  3. Its good news that some of key players are heading north to enhance their football careers. Let us not forget to be grateful to our colleagues down South for accommodating some of our players. Looking at the performance of Bafana during the past two weeks, the guys did Africa proud. They have improved alot and hope their will maintain their fighting spirit. The problem that will hinder our players stay in North Africa is our cultural behavour which is very different from that of South Africa. The North Africans are very religious in they way they conduct themselves. We are yet to see how our brothers are going to fit in. I wish all those going North the best. As for Chipolopolo Boys camping in Holand, I wonder if the weather is same as that of Algeria. Lets us be serious with camping

  4. Brave Rangerz, keep it up! Be focused, maintain discipline, respect every opponent, don’t worry about what others do but just win and win…

  5. Camp in Holland and play a university select side or indeed a high school team will not help our national team. Just like beating Orlando Pirates/ Kaizer Chiefs second/rezerve team did not help matterz. We need 2 or 3 high profile friendliez irrespective of where we camp with ALL our boiz around including Mbesuma, Makufi, Chalwez, Tana, Kilambe, Milanzi, Sinkala, Sichone, Clifford and….

  6. It looks like the teams in the Premier Division have very few people who identify with them. It is admirable that people still identify with the former giants – Nkana, Mufulira Wnderers, Nchanga Rangers.
