Shikapwasha castigates Edith Nawakwi

Share

CHIEF Government Spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha has castigated Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) President Edith Nawakwi for alleging that President Banda is leading the country on a path of economic disaster.

Lieutenant General Shikapwasha said Ms Nawakwi should stop issuing statements on President Banda’s leadership as she is not offering any support to the country’s economic development.

General Shikapwasha was reacting to a comment made by the FDD President Edith Nawakwi that President Banda was leading Zambia on a path of economic disaster.
He said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Ms Nawakwi should check herself before making statements pertaining to the country’s economic development.

“Ms Nawakwi must stop issuing negative statements about Mr Banda because the President has done a lot of things that have since helped to improve the economy of the country.

“People like Ms Nawakwi are just job seekers; that is the reason why they are speaking ill of President Banda and his administration. Ms Nawakwi is a failure who has failed to give moral support to President Banda and his administration,” he said.

“President Banda is doing very well and people like Ms Nawakwi should know that President Banda became President for this nation when there was the global economic meltdown. So let us not just be criticising for the sake of winning cheap political mileage,” he said.

Gen Shikapwasha said Zambia’s economy is improving and that a lot of investment in the key sectors of the economy is being recorded.

  1. Ba shikapwashya, bushe finshi efyo ba Banda bachita so far. Your arguement is baseless man. Nawakwi is right and its very clearly with most Zambians that Banda has done nothing so far, and that there’re no hopes for any economic recovery. Hey people, is shikapwashya a christian? Am asking because now he’s become the greatest Zambian liar. Teta talks rubbish but when it comes to telling lies, shikapwashya is the greatest.

  2. ON: “President Banda is doing very well and people like Ms Nawakwi should know that President Banda became President for this nation when there was the global economic meltdown., in which area of the economy is RB doing well? Shikapwasha is one of the people around RB that are misnforming. RB needs economic advisers better than Shikapwasha. RB is not doing fine economically because his financial priorities are on the MPs and his Cabinet instead of the nation. Edith is telling the truth.

  3. Nawakwi was a good minister she knows what she is talking about she is the one who started the Chiluba is a thife thing and everyone thought she had gone nuts but after a few months the whole nation was astoneshed at the facts which came out. RB has done nothing ok he has travelled I can say

  4. I thought Nawakwi campaigned heavily for RB? What happened now? Was she a job seeker who has realised that the job will not come. Shame on you Nawakwi. You should have principles.

  5. Ka Nawakwi ni kamuselela kwakaba, last last year she was busy campaigning for RB now that she hasnt been given anything , she has again turned her back on him!

  6. as much as nawakwi has a point, she’s the one who went around the country championing RB as the best candidate.this lady has no principles and lucks integrity!..i do not support RB and will never but nawakwi should be the last one to condemn RB ,just like her fellow RB cadre sikota..so ashemed to show his face to the public after so much pronouncments that RB was the best candidate..i dont know why people should wat nawakwi say’s seriously!

  7. Ba shipwetete you are great bootlicker. The economy has improved under RB leadership…owe my nose. Can you point out the indicators of this imprvement you are talking about when you can cry like babies for donor money?? If there is improvement of the economy why are you pleading with donors to forgive you of your thefts at MoH? awe bane kwena muchalo mwaba amashilu.

  8. Shikapwasha you are just a weak excuse of a man, what has your boss done in the 9 months he has been in office….increasing your salaries, giving all contracts to chinese? Today you are calling Nawakwi a jobseeker, well, you may be right but this is the woman who campaigned very hard for your boss to be elected. You should show some appreciation, learn to have manners you I.D.I.O.T.

  9. #1. to#7, I know that it is fashionable for young people to lambast the government and this is commendable especially when aware of viable alternatives. Anyway, Zambia expects to post a 4% GDP growth rate for 2009 having been revised downwards from the budgeted 5%. The figure for the UK is -1% for 2009 and may be worse if the swine flu pandemic escalates there. I will post the comparative figures for the region and you can then decide whether Rupia is doing something or not. As literarate people you are not expected to judge performance on the basis of whether you like somebody or not.

  10. Oh my oh my, the comedy never ends…….the country has been on auto-control since that man was sworn in (30minutes after successful rigging) and some big clown says Banda has done a lot, the only notable thing the country has seen so far is the chanitundila saga, wake up!!!!!!! tomato tomato balunda, onion nayo yadula…………………

  11. NAWAKWI must stop prostitution.he was in the forefront of campaigning for Rupiah and was rewarded with a trip to Ethiopia.she means she didn’t know rupiah’s qualities then.the bottomline is she didn’t get a job after campaigning heavily and now she is bitter.to hell with her.

  12. As for Nawakwi, it would be very prudent for her to be principled. This is the same woman that campaigned vigorously for RB and said plenty of shit against the UPND and PF. I bet the chick is frustrated because she was never rewarded like the others. Nevers is in Canada (Ambassador), Sikota and Ngondo (both got fat brown envelopes), Ben Mwila (No longer being pursued by ZRA (His businesses almost folded)

  13. On chief Government Spokesman’s “People like Ms Nawakwi are just job seekers; that is the reason why they are speaking ill of President Banda and his administration. Ms Nawakwi is a failure who has failed to give moral support to President Banda and his administration“, I am not sure about this allegation as Ms president Nawakwi campaigned heavily for Mr President in 2008 even without an alliance while she failed to do the same in a UDA alliance with president HH — when she went into clear oblivion.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the word.

  14. It’s true Nawakwi is a potential job seeker. Ewalesendela bwezani amenshi yakunwa. Its surprising how she is coming out. Namona ati inshiku shileya no ministerial position. Mayo ikalenifye.

  15. #15,NKOLE WAMAPEMBWE UMFWE MILANDU ,

One thing you need to understand is that you cannot compare Zambia to developed countries like UK. This is because developed countries are the hardest hit by the economic meltdown and moreover they are far ahead of us in terms of devepment of infrastructure.

Compare the performance of Zambia with that of Malawi (8.1% GDP for 2009), Tanzania(7.0% GDP for 2009), Djibouti(7.0% GDP for 2009), Ethiopia(7.5% GDP for 2009), Zimbabwe (4.5% GDP for 2009), Gambia(6.0% GDP for 2009), Congo Brazaville(7.0% GDP for 2009), ZAMBA (3.8% GDP for 2009).

  16. #25. Those are just figures on paper. Just look at the real situation on the ground. Can you say we are developing with whats happening in the country. Don’t be cheated by the figures coz they do not reflect the true picture.

  17. Women are really disgracing themselves these days. This woman was proclaiming loudly less than 9 months ago that RB was the best candidate. What has changed? Oh right, the phone call for a cabinet position never came. Now she is attacking the same guy. The same goes for Sakwiba too. These two should just keep quiet. Look at Ngondo. The man is just enjoying state dinners these days

  18. #15,NKOLE WAMAPEMBWE UMFWE MILANDU,

So you see that Zambia is lagging in economic growth. Even Zimbabwe, with all its sanctions around it is in a better position than Zambia. Shikapwasha’s words that President Banda is doing very well must be CONDEMNED in the strongest sense of the word!

  19. #15 percentages do not make sense as these depend heavily on the base being used. I’m sure the 1% projected GDP is the UK is much higher than our revised 4% in value terms. I hope this is not what Ronnie is refering to as growth. We need to be more serious. Politics are about food on the table Full Stop!!

  20. #26, Ubuntungwa mu Zambia,

You may say they are mere figures, but formal economic growth is based on these same figures. Just accept that there is very little happenning in Zambia compared to other countries in Africa!

  21. #31. We are actually saying the same thing. I am supporting that Zambia is not going anywhere despite the figures showing that we are doing better or bad.

  22. Imwe ba # 15.is my grandmother going to eat and clothe GDP.Is she going to use GDP to buy fertiliser which by the way we were told at one time by RB ati it will be 50 pin. . some of these figures do not mean anything to my poor grandmother. Imagine one of your relatives from the village asking about RB’s achievements and then you say the GDP has improved, it has no meaning at the grassroot

  23. Finance Bank sues Nawakwi over K700m debt

FINANCE Bank Zambia (FBZ) Limited has sued Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi for a debt amounting to over K700 million.

The K714, 759,084.00 debt is in respect of K557, 596,010.00 outstanding overdraft and an outstanding loan of K157, 163,074.00.

According to a writ of summons filed in the Lusaka High Court, FBZ has sued Msanza Resorts Limited, where Ms Nawakwi is director, as first defendant, and the FDD leader as second defendant.

FBZ manager for credit Christopher Silungwe says by a mortgage deed of January 2, 2008, between the bank and the defendants, a leasehold property known as lot number 7084/M belonging to Ms Nawakwi was registered in favour of FBZ in the sum of a K200 million overdraft, and…

  24. and Ms Nawakwi obtained a K450 million loan.

Mr Silungwe says in his affidavit in support of the summons that Ms Nawakwi is in possession of the mortgaged property, which is 3.8 hectares of land situated in Lusaka west.

He says one of the provisions in the mortgage deed is that the limit of recovery of the principal sum shall not in any way prejudice or affect the bank’s right to recover the total sum due from the mortgagor (Ms Nawakwi), on any such account or any excess of such total sum over and above the limit.

Mr Silungwe says the other provision is that the mortgagor shall on demand pay the bank all principal monies, interest, commission, charges and expenses in accordance with the covenants.

  25. “The plaintiff (FBZ) has neither received nor, to my knowledge, any other person by the bank’s order or to the plaintiff’s use, received the sum or any part thereof…or anything of value in or towards satisfaction of the said sum,” Mr Silungwe says.

He says the amounts due as at June 16, 2009, on the overdraft account and loan were K557, 596,010.00 and K157, 163,074.00, respectively, and that interest continues to accrue at the current bank lending rates.

The lawsuit follows a demand letter, which FBZ assistant legal counsel in the credit department Noyoo Noyoo, wrote to Ms Nawakwi on May 21, 2009, concerning the debt.

  26. #41. Good. Let her know that by supporting RB she made a terrible mistake. Even Sakwiba can’t even lift his head because he is such a shame.

  27. #33 We Can, #25 Maestro; It is good to discuss these issues with somebody who has some reference data, unlike most who may just be basing their comments on the attitude they have towards a particular leader. I do not support any one. I just support facts. I do not know the source of the figures you have given especially in the case of Zimbabwe which has consistently posted negative growth over the years. I got my figures from Ministry of Finance and I am told the provisional aggregate figure for GDP growth for Sub-Sahara Africa for 2009 is 1%. On that score Zambia is doing well at 4%. Ba Maestro please confirm these figures so that you have a logical basis for lambasting Rupia Banda. People who have no facts for their beliefs are likely to jump into a fire.

  28. I wanted tell Nkole fimo fimo to keep quiet , GDP GDP you think we dont know what it is ala wether it has droped or increased Zambians can not feel that and they are not happy . Dont think every one can easly be fooled on the blog some of us a good economists contributing to other nations coz in our country we can not be head. I have alot I can say to you but I have better things to do

  29. #37 Efyo mfwaya ukumfwa lyonse lelo bamambala aba balimpesha amano!! Lelo ati let us give RB more time to deliver. Next ati He has delivered and shud be given another term. Which is which here??

  30. ##33 which africa? because just in SADC which country is Zed surpassing? our money does not even beat Malawi without precious minerals,Angola just from war,Zed can not even come half way to Botswana and South Africa.Even investors would rather wait for Bigfalls town than our dirty Livingstone. If Zed was a company it could have long been liquidated.

  31. #46, Tata/Mayo ba Gonena, I opt to use GDP growth rates as means of comparing the performane of different national economies. I am very much aware that different countries have different strategies for tackling the social inequalities and imbalances in the economy. I see a lot of structures being bulit in a lot of places and I am doubtful about the claim that nothing is happening. I assure you, I am extremely conversant with Zambia as a country and with the economy. As you can imagine, I am searching for someone like you who can perform miracles for the Zambian people, but you need to be more systematic before you can convince me.

  32. 45 ba-NKOLE WAMAPEMBWE UMFWE MILANDU greetings and thanks. On your “Ba Maestro please confirm these figures so that you have a logical basis for lambasting Rupia Banda“, I have had a check on some of the country numbers and they are correct in the sense that the range is about same as what WE CAN has posted. However, I am worried for Zambia which is indicated as having a forecast figure of “1.6% in 2009 and 2.7% in 2010 as the global economic slowdown hits Zambia” as given by REPORT BUYER on w w w. reportbuyer. c o m /countries /africa /zimbabwe /country_ report_ zambia_ january_ 2009 . h t m l.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

  33. She Supported R B but she has seen that the old Man is doing Nothing, Hence the right to speak out. I totally Support her on this one. The old man has really failed US.

  34. 51 continued.

My take is that is that these are just numbers that can reflect a truthful picture or not. They depend on how transparent and honest a system that comes up with them is. I personally doubt them in the case of Zambia as we have too much bereaucracy in our systems.

This is sad to the extent that even our census of the Country’s population is questionable as some say it is 12 million, others 11.5 million and I think the SDA church shows a projected figure of 11.8 million.

What is needed for Zambia is to take into account the informal sector seriously in our National planning. Such will improve our figures to about reality.

  35. #52. Someone should have principles in life and not being an opportunist. Nawakwi saw an opportunity to be a minister and hence tirelessly supported RB. Now she has seen that fruits of her campaign or a ministerial job in not forthcoming, she is now against RB. Not so long ago she was among the entourage that went with RB to Kenya. To RB, that trip was enough reward for Nawakwi’s campaign but Nawakwi did not realise that. Now is has been taken to court for K700m debt which she hoped to pay after stealing should she have been given the ministerial job. So for Nawakwi, panshi pakosa kumulu kwalepa.

  36. Ba Nkole thank you for your information, there can be groth in the GDP but if living standards of the ordinary zambians is getting worse by the day it means things are not ok Malawi has got better groth rate in GDP their currency is stronger than ours, but people live in serious poverty there. I visited some places like Lilongwe Nkhotakhota. Kuti mwalila so sometimes lets come down and look at basic signals of a better economy

  37. RB should have used the peace, the minerals, and the Agriculture that Zambia has to put the GDP of Zambia above 8.0% for 2009, like Malawi, but all we here are that RB is doing very fine. This is really very bad. How can one solve a problem unless he acknowledges that it exists? RB’s govt has been adamantly refusing to acknowledge the problem at hand.

  38. Zambia has a joke of a president in RB. Always gracing traditional ceremonies but he always seems to have excuses for not attending meaningful heads of states conferences. We shall see wether he will be at the UN general conference.

  39. Nawikwi dont expect anyone to feel sorry for you, you are simply a let down. just like Dipak & Sakwiba, some of us treated you guys as morally upright politicians and our role models, we had it all wrong! First of all tell us why you decided to abandone your party to support RB in a shameless manner before you can start irritating us with rhetoric once again. just quietly ask for your commission from RB and his minions for the campaigns, dont involve us, ALA!!

  40. These are real political prostitutes, 9 months ago they were flying all over the country with a corpse campaigning for the same man. they are now castigating the same man since they have not been rewarded. shame.

  41. You can never prove a negative. You cannot prove that you prevented what did not happen. That is the dilemma of world leaders during this economic crisis.

  42. I wanted to support Sister Edith, then you bloggers have reminded how she betrayed us we Zambians by campaining for sojournes. Other wise Shikas is reaping where Edith sowed both as founder of MMD and RBs campain manager.

  43. So the Govt has closed its ears to constructive critisim. Edith served as Finance Minister at one time when Ronnie was Air Force Commander and she knows the economic path RB is driving this country to. Its not sensible for Ronnie to be opening his mouth just coz he is defending his master. This Ronnie does not cease to amaze me.

  44. You see now Nawakwi, you should gauge before you join a certain camp. We told you that these monks will just use and dump you like a bag of rubbish. Its unfortunate for a part presido to have supported blindly. Who’s now FDD president? Learn to stand by your principles and be firm if you have to make a good strong leader like Pabwato. Walabafye kanamaliketi nakabili nomba.

  45. Lupiya has done a lot for Zambia Bane Mwee: Spending our money on meaningless trips and holidays. He has also done well that the monkey congratulated him by pissing on him. He did well also by inciting a monkey to Attack Mpombo. The list is endless U mean u cant see that… Shika is right!!!

  46. #65 you cracked my ribs!! hahaha. our aunt Edith lacks timing, even when it comes to marriage issues. FDD ship has no Captain now, too bad for them. # 64, Madam Nawakwi rendered herself useless by carrying manzi bottles for RB in the 08 campaigns, no one can take her serious anymore, not even our useless Shika for that matter! she should emulate Dipak who has gone hiding in the caves

  47. Nawakwi is talking sense, however this should not come from her. She was talking big about RB during campaigns but what has changed now? Any way we know that NAWAKWI has always been a job seeker. I think she wants now to go to bed with the PF-UPND pact. Please HAKASATA watch this woman carefully. We dont want her in the pact. Let her just go back to being NAMALIKETI. She can do very well at Soweto market for she can also meet a MR Right there.
