Selfish employees at LCC allegedly allocating plots – Makanta

Share

Lusaka City Council has refuted claims by Lusaka Water and Sewerage(LWSC) that the council is partly to blame for the recent illegal construction of houses.

LCC Public Relations Manager, Chanda Makanta, said that the recent developments of people building on the water utility service lines is being promoted by some selfish people at the council, who are allegedly allocating plots without the council’s approval.

She was reacting to the recent development in Lusaka, Chawama compound, where LWSC service line burst inside a house because it was built on top a service line.

In an interview in Lusaka today, LCC public Relations Manager revealed that her office has received saddening reports about some council personnel were allocating plots in LWSC water works area.

She has since appealed to all developers and the council officer to desist from such activities saying the law will soon visit them.

Meanwhile LCC Public Relations Manager, says the council will not achieve its target of providing street lights in the city if they do not get maximum cooperation from the public.

She said the council has in the past tried to intensify it’s street lighting projects but vandalism has also taken its tall, thus frustrating the efforts.

And the Ms Makanta has announced that the council will soon repossess all incomplete buildings in town .

She stated that it is the councils mandate to ensure that the streets of Lusaka are kept free from untidiness caused by incomplete buildings.

Ms Makanta cited one of the building along Katondo street in Lusaka’s centre that has contributed to the untidiness of the street , whose developers have abandoned it.

LCC public Relations Manager has since appealed to the Ministry of Lands to quickly intervene in this so that the owners are known.

  1. If there’s corruption going on in the councils, where’s this nation headed?
RB every other Zambian president was a damn better president than you’ll ever be. All future presidents will be better too.
I’m afraid to say this is my worst Zambian president ever.

  2. No Way. I am with you man ! Guys are commtiting more atrocities that make FTJ look like a mere pick-pocket !

  3. Exactly Ba Dr Maureen at #5,
RB has made many controversial decisions and is rather stubborn. He also made a poor choice on presidential advisers. I sometimes wonder why some ministers speak out on his behalf.
He is being grossly misled by “bumbling buffoons” like Mulongoti and Ronnie.

  4. Ba Maureen and No Ways
If you knew the truth about what is really happening, you would not be badmouthing RB like this

  5. Educate me further Lusaka at #7.
You seem to know exactly what’s obtaining on the ground. My judgment on R n’ B’s performance is based on media reports, things I’ve heard him say, speeches read by him and the all too evident globe trotting.
He’s no performer this guy. Sorry to disappoint you.

  6. Well, can’t blame you for feeling that way. After all, yes, your opinion on the man is 2nd 3rd and even 4th hand. Am here in Lusaka right on the ground. Off course am not fan of the MMD but it seems the media has painted the blackest picture of RB. Yep, the man has his weaknesses and he does not have the best of advisors, but a time will come when time will defend him

  7. You have no idea how difficult it is to get a residential plot in kitwe. A lot of people ( including me) have been swindled. You apply for a plot, get a letter of offer, pay up everything only to discover 4 other people were offered the same plot…! When you go back to the council they tell you such mistakes are common…

  8. #9 Lusaka, you are right. For example before making such a comment if I were #4″No Way” I should have found out as to when such houses were built. Have they just sprang up in the last seven months during RB’s reign? Check facts about when Mr Sata was governor and see which shunties sprang under his watch and much claimed “hard work”. He knows better how such plots were allocated coz during his time under Chiluba we saw a lot of cadres being given plots – a cancer which no one seems to trace to Mr Sata “the hard worker”.

  9. Either Ms Makanta is new in her job or is she is so dull she can not see beyond her nose. LWSC is right about this council. To start with how does she account for the street lamps when these are not number? Streets have no names? so its a bottom less pit. I WOULD NOT be surprised if one street light has supposedly its bulb replaced every day.
