  1. Lets wait and i see . I think the japanese are trustworth to partner in investments than the other group. i wont mention them.

  2. #3, lets just face it.. its the Chinaman. Japanese are better off and more sensible/clever/humane in their dealings..

  3. Which sector of the economy do we need foreign investment. That on thing which the the government need to categorise. Its not all sectors of the economy were foreign investment can be beneficial.

  4. Japanese people don’t flood the market with cheap variant goods that put local people out of business like the chinese.

  5. Mr Shuhei; please go to my country and do a productive business. I trust you guys so much you are teaching me a lot in your lovely country. Bring investment to my homeland… Tackle the mines especialy and dont give RB Money, show him how to work hard as you have been doing.

  6. Why is it so difficult for our leaders to see that “cheap is expensive”. Why not involve professional investors who would do a great job so that the roads, buildings or even mines would last for 10 even 15, 20 years before another reconstruction would be required. By so doing the governement would have enough time to raise funds for the next reconstruction.

By the way, in australia the politicians themselves demonstrated when they heard that the government wanted to award a constract to a chinese investor. Developed countries know that chinese are crooks and always use cheap material.

  7. You could have some serious Chinese investors but you could also have some crroked Japanese investors – how do you know? The only way is to be in close contact with them and control every step they make within the country. This is what all those ministries mentioned in the article should be doing. I hope they’re doing their job right.

  8. For how long is Zambia going to be cheated? Or, for how long are Zambians continue to cheat themselves? “infrastructure development” is not the investors pre-occupation, but the government. This is because, infrastructure development has a long term benefit. And in fact most (if not all), benefits are indirect and mainly realised by citizens. Eg if a road is tarred distances are shortened and citizens directly enjoy it. No investor is going to wait for 20 years before starting to reap from the investment. Look at Botswana gvt-they don’t bank on investors. The gvt builds roads to encourage both foreign and local investors.

  9. Please what are the Zambian leaders doing for our country, is it scramble for Zambia? investors can come but we have no law that protects the Zambians. To start with these people wont have to pay any tax the first 5 years, why this cant be changed nobody knows. these people are only interested in making their money they are not interesred in Zambia If a Zambian tries to setup a business ZRA will be on his neck demanding for tax.

  10. So this is what theyve started doing now… oh sh*it ,will you stop and use your brain for once. we are not going to develop with foreign investment. come to think of it we will not develop with any sort o investment. im afraid to say the country is sinking . bet these are the discussions stupid nations like congo zaire and somalia were having hefore everything f*ucked up . look at them now! nations with “” good work ethics”” are striping them of all their mineral sh*it ( coltan ,gold and sh*it). investors will not help a foolish nation. What makes you think we are any better than zaire? i bet they have more investors and more riduculous talk from their politicians.

  11. damn it! when will we ever invest in our own resources instead of seeking foreign sources to do it for us!

  12. Literally speaking Chinese people are intelligent and well dignified. But it is our government and some zambian’s attitude which encourage them to oppress and exploit. Please don’t get me wrong i’m not supporting oppression and exploitation!

  13. Can Zambia feed both Zambia and Japan? What is a Japanese trading company going to do with agricultural opportunities in Zambia?

  14. In my comment above(19) i meant to say Japanese not Chinese.Ala no tubantu twine utu twali palana nga makufi !

  15. Miss Daisy

Stop it with the racism. Calling an Asian a “choncholi” is equivalent to a white person calling a black person a “nigger”. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Racism of all kinds should be condemned.

  16. I welcome the Japanese. The have got good work ethics and are here on a pure business and not aid model. What we need are more people coming for business.

    The Japanese are welcome.

  17. I hope GRZ doesn’t fall to this. Nobody I know including myself know about this Sojitz. you giys got to work up before you sell the country out to these ‘fake’ investors!

    Yangu tata twalelata…

  18. capitalist or whatever you call yourself, forget the choncholi issue, its not important, we can bring investors yes but you dont bring in people in your country to do everything for you. Japanese or not japanese
