Peace is a prerequisite condition for attracting investors into the country – RB

President Rupiah Banda says peace is a prerequisite condition for attracting investors into the country.

President Banda says foreign investment would only come into the country if stability is assured.

Mr. Banda was speaking today at a rally to drum up support for the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) candidate in the Chitambo Constituency parliamentary by-election Dr. Solomon Musonda at Chitambo Basic School.

President Banda said he would fight those trying to promote tribalism and divide the country.

He called upon all Zambians to have a clear vision and build a Zambia ideal for prosperity.[quote]

He pointed out that when investors come into the country this would translate into job creation.

Mr. Banda said those instigating actions that would result into the instability of the country were enemies of development.

He said government was focused and determined to encourage the setting up of manufacturing firms and would encourage the opening up of new mines in a bid to address the obtaining unemployment levels in the country.

Mr. Banda said it is therefore wrong for the some opposition leaders to say that government was not doing anything to move the nation forward.

He said the MMD was fielding Dr. Musonda in a bid to sustain development efforts in the area.

And speaking letter at Mukando Basic School, President Banda cautioned United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema against using insulting language towards him.

Mr. Banda said the UPND leader should not join in the cousinship exchange of words between him and Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata.

On the partial privatization of ZAMTEL, Mr. Banda said there was nothing irregular about the move to partially privatize the company.

He said the move was inevitable as the company was facing financial difficulties and needed to be recapitalized.

The ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD), the Patriotic Front (PF) and United Party for National Development UPND pact, the Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) and the United National Independence Party (UNIP) candidates are contesting the parliamentary by-election in Chitambo Constituency.

Dr. Solomon Musonda will stand on the MMD ticket and Chanda Mutale will contest for the seat on the PF ticket. FDD would be represented by Evans Chola, while UNIP is fielding Timothy Kapolo.

The Chitambo by-election which has been slated for August 13 was necessitated by the death of area member of parliament Nasim Hamir.

  1. It is the MMD and its cadres that is creating lawlessness in the country, so what are you saying, Rupiah? Politics has nothing to do with chimbuya. Ici cimudala cakumushi sana.

  2. How can RB call for all Zambians to to have a clear vision when it suits him and yet he is not listening to the calls of the zambians to listen to them and he himself does not have a clear vision. We all want to enjoy peace, how can we enjoy this when he himself is ordering his cadres to be violent and not do anything about it. RB just go back to your farm . youa re surrounded by blood suckers and dead beats who will do anything to pleae you. Ata ta Mwe o bwelelani tyala kumunda kwa nu talema namwe na chiputa chanu na mafontini bena teta, shika mulongoti and even you ka friend FTJ.

  3. Corruption not peace is the most important prerequisite condition investors look for. Theres no peace in sudan, niger delta, congo coltan mines

  4. Slumdog you are right. look at what happened to beautiful countries like Angola, if not for the godl mines would you have seen donors? look at Congo , the minerals there have not stoped any donors from going there even when there has been war for so long. look at Zed now the donors know that there are a lot of natural resources there an ther will do anything to get them, even blidnfolding the zedians to get their hand on the resources. just last week there were millions of tonnes of ivory from Zed intransit to Singapore held up in Kenya.

  5. Come on MMD, come to your senses. You are the ones who are creating unlawlessness in the country, by using your thugs to sort out your enemies. In polities here is nothing like age and chibuya.

  6. “PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda yesterday linked The Post to the opposition’s attempts to impeach him, accusing the newspaper of “ubufi bwakunya (lies of shitting)”.”

“lies of shitting”, JUST AS WELL MY CHILDREN ARE NOT THERE TO LEARN BAD LANGUAGE FROM THE SO CALLED PRESIDENT. I WONDER WHEN THIS MAN WILL START ADDRESSING THE ECONOMIC SITUATION IN ZAMBIA. MOST OF HIS TIME IS WASTED ON THE POST AND OPPOSITION.

  7. To all here that have UNIP in your veins, this is what Kaunda’s leadership produced for those of us that perceive and see. While Botswana and the sea shelles what ever it’s spelling maybe were venturing into development and democracy we were being blinded and paying for liberation of countries that were going to get their independence anyway. Investors want to see simple things like rule of law where a person does not run red lights, ministers buy their own cars, the three wings of gov. are independent and a smart or democratic leader like Miyanda( Only if that Man was not too meek it moved into being duanzy) rule; then investors shall appear, were are the local brains and rich people too. They can invest but your laws hurt local investors with king like colosal taxes, Mu Zambia unga…

  8. #1 Kwandangala-Sata was born under a tree in the village and has never had any formal and professional job. Hichilema was born and raised up herding cows in the village where even started eloping cows. His first trip to the urban area is when MMD came to power and dupped with a scholarship to UNZA as a strategy of ending his village mentality of eloping cows. Later on, he went to the UK and retained. On the other hand Rupiah was born in Gwanda a developed mining city , educated in Sweden, served for years in the Diplomatic corp at the UN, Zambian Embassy in DC,Egypt, UK and Saudi Arabia besides being GM and Minister, VP and now President. This said, who is a villager and on whom does it stick? That kind of PHD in the face of indelible records makes you look a typical envious fool.

  9. #9 Observer; HH graduated with a BA in Economics from UNZA in 1985. MMD came to power in 1991. Please stop the crap.

  10. #9 observer if you are paid to write what you dont know you better stop the crap too. What is RB just shi…ting at the Post. Tell him we want Development and not Shi..ting as he is saying. So you tell me he went at all these places just to come back Shi…ting.

  11. It’s not peace alone that attracts investors, good looks for a head of state are even more important. Those chicks, gigantic nose and a head like Gandire express bus service on top of Bwezani’s turso are scarring investors.

  12. #1 Kwandangala. Of course Rupiah wakumushi, so what is wrong with that? I am also from the village, so what are you going to do. Stop being shallow and cheap. If you have criticisms please explain them without having to sound as if there is something wrong with the village. If you are in the UK as your flag indicates, I am sure you have by now realised that villages are valued for their peace and community life. Wake up.
