Tetamashimba and Wina recovering

Share

LOCAL Government and Housing Minister Ben Tetamashimba, who is admitted to a Johannesburg hospital, is said to be in a stable condition.

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Leslie Mbula, said in a telephone interview last night that medical personnel at Morningside Hospital where Mr Tetamashimba is being treated, have said that Mr Tetamashimba is responding well to medication.

Mr Mbula said that Speaker of the National Assembly, Amusaa Mwanamwambwa, visited Mr Tetamashimba yesterday.
He said Mr Tetamashimba was even able to read the newspapers from his hospital bed.

Mr Mbula said that Energy Regulations Board (ERB) chairperson Sikota Wina, who is also admitted to a hospital in South Africa, is also recuperating.
Mr Tetamashimba and Mr Wina were evacuated to South Africa last week for specialised treatment for undisclosed ailments.

  1. Y is the speaker visiting isn’t that a waste of money? It means teta was very critical for them to keep updating us that now he can read a paper ???Well give us his test results as announced earlier am sure they are ready plus SA never wastes time, what is he suffering from?

  2. While other Zambians are suffering in Wusakile, mandevu, chazanga……. This is what PK was singing about in “Common man”

  3. Oh no he isn’t, is he? Ku matwi tondolo at least for a few months. As for Sokota, quick recovery and i hope you used your own money, thats why you risked everything to make money so let your money work for you now pleasssse.

  4. Wasting money on the Toonies, just goes to show the speaker does nothing else to warrant his hefty salary every month other than crying ‘ order, order, order’ in that circus house come on! give him a constituency. The british speaker is an elected MP and works for his money. I might be wrong but if anyone here knows what else the Speaker does please tell me.

  5. They don’t even feel ashamed running away from their own hospitals to fill up South African hospitals even for knee check ups. Shame on these useless vultures

  6. When are we going to have real Leaders, South Africans built what they have with hard labor e.g schools hospitals houses and businesses.Tax wasters free Govt vehicles free gas to the amount of over K11 million per yr and free Govt cell phones to the amount of $5,000.00 per month free housing and electricity and then on top of that free medical treatments and airfares to South Africa, No wonder at the end of the day there is no money in the treasury to fund education and social services.Zambia does not have a balanced budget, each fiscal yr there is less than 35% to fund the national budget to meet the basics,Look at Botswana they is no waste of taxpayer’s money.

  7. My blood boils when I read this ridiculous news. I should understand that medications can only be administered in a South African hospital, Medical equipment is too expensive and we can not afford to hire medical specialists and consultants.
A poor country like Cuba has a very high standard of medical services and it is all because of POLITICAL WILL, like what we had a few decades ago.
These guys are too busy plundering the country to bother about the restoration of UTH. Zambians are dying from curable diseases and conditions and yet these guys are busy shuttling their butts around the world for the best medical services. I do not feel like paying tax any more.

  8. Its amazing how we can ignore our hospital just to empower South African health facilities. What is it that UTH does have for our leaders to be running to south Africa whenever they have headache. Its lack of confidence in our health institutions and our doctors whom we train at huge cost. Its a pity that Zambia is being run like an animal farm where some animals are more equal that others.I have great respect for every patient coz i know it is to be sick, lets treat every citizen equally. There is a family in the copperbelt, imagine the whole of 7 is suffering from similar serious disease but who has bothered to take to south africa.I think i need to from the minister of health the policy regarding evacuation to south africa for specialist treat , which disease qualify for specialist treatmen

  9. Bana ba kwitu.Vultures have sweet languages.Tell us those men pa saus aflika, did they go wis HIV/AIDS?
    Are zey lisiving good A’alavizi?

    Oh soli plivesi

  10. It is Morningside for all or Morningside for none! Let us share beds in the UTH. MMD, these evacuations are your undoing!

  11. #3 Senior citizen
No, you’re wrong their healer is Milpark clinic or is it morning side. Please pray for our helpless people at UTH whose chances of going home are next to zero owing to ineptitide of your boss and his clowns. Why not just make Zambia a Cinderella province of RSA? what happened to your sense of shame that you can be lining up to go to South africa leaving our people in our ‘manda manda’ hospital. With tears running down my cheeks, I know for a fact that there is a God and he’s watching he will come through for our people and reward the greedy and selfish people mascarading as leaders accordingly.

  12. Which organs is Teta using to read newspapers now? We were told the other day that all his organs had failed.

  13. It is now well known what the problem is with Mr. Teta. The visit by the Speaker was to assess if he is fit for parliament considering that he was found with severe Mental Problems. Mr Teta was walking when he went to SA and he is still walking as his problem ha nothing to do with his physical or other internal organs, apart from his brain hence the reason he is being seen by the same doctor who worked on Dave Chapelle the US comedian who lost it two to three years ago. So, will Tate be fit for next session of parliament? That is really doubtful as the diagnosis seem to be more than simple firing of neurons, but according to family member was bewitched. So, senior citizen, knowing how Teta has offended several including God, the chances of getting well are slim.

  14. I hope and pray the whole MMD led government will be evacuated to South Africa on a one way ticket, never to go back to Zambia.

  15. A Lusaka father, Daniel Kabala is pleading with the authorities at the UTH to carry out an urgent operation on his 12 month old son who was born with a rare disorder. I am deeply saddened by this because if this was an MMD official’s son they would have flown him to South Africa without delay. For them even when they are just constipated they get evacuated to SA. Where is the sanity in the MMD government? If they still have any humanity in them this child must be given the specialist treatment he requires immediately.

  16. #21, I understand what Mr Kabala is going through. I have been there before, my mother died in UTH because there was no medicine in the hospital. They couldn’t evacuate her to SA because “it had to be approved by the govt” and it never happened. The government doesn’t care unless its someone who is going to be beneficial to them. When my mother died non of the doctor’s were even present.

  17. All we need are leaders with a vision and those who can excute what the promise in their manifestos. Not all those boot lickers we have in GRZ.

  18. God sees the injustices and unfairness of the people whom he puts in power. I am very sure one day He will deal with these MMD-Devils. I know God has been hearing the cries of his poor people and Its just a matter of time something will happen soon. GOD is not limited in his doings…he can do any thing to make these MMD-Devils change their mind sets. If he wants He can make them to start staying in SA- hospitals for a long period of time as they await healing. God can make sure that these MMD-devils dont heal while there in SA. I know one day these MMD-devils will come to their senses. JEHOVAH GOD REIGNS.

  19. Our own leaders in Government ara not happy about zambian ealth care, and instead of building zambian health care system they keep on undermining it and prefer to spend tax payers money in SA instead of building and improving our own health care system. shame on this people. who cares if TETA DIES?

  20. the brand new mandamandas are articulate enough to take his body to N/Western, he shall be put to rest next to one Mushala…the country is even quiet in his absence!!!

  21. You know in the Kaunda era, all ministers went to our hospitals and theis children ate beans and cabbage with us in the boarding schools. But amazingly, things changed with the chiluba, Mwanawasa and RB eras where people go to get drugs even for their headaches in SA. They even have the audacity to call on SA hospitals to come and invest in Zambia by coming to build Morningside version of clinics in Zed….very sad! While this idea of building in Zambia seems like a good idea why not just revamp your own hospitals and pay the medical staff well…..God help us.

  22. Privately-run hospitals in South Africa provide world class service. Milpark hospital is the most advanced hospital in Africa. Doctor tarrifs are not regulated. A privately owned pharmacy is available for the purchase of medication. The usual charge for usage of the trauma centre is R1000. This is due before the patient can use the unit. A R10000 deposit is required for admittance into a normal ward. Does the Zambian Govt pay cash or they have insurance, if it is cash then it is a double misuse of funds.

  23. Why don’t we just send all our doctors, nurses, and related medical staff to South Africa since we have no use of tghem here in Zambia? Let us close all our hospitals and clinics and send all our citizens needing medical attention to South Africa since we are incapable of investing in our own medical and health services and institutions.

Once taken into the labour ward,
the women were told to sit on the
bare floor until their waters broke. ‘
These fluids were all over the place
and no one was allowed to get on
the beds until delivery of the child,
    was imminent.
    Breaking of the waters was
deemed to be ‘carelessness on the
part of the women and the unfortunate
ones were asked to mop the
floor since the cleaner had other
    duties to perform.

    Some women

    The women were
    told in no uncertain
    terms that no one
    would come unless
    they found.their

    In the meantime,
    the midwives were
    wondering how it

    engaged in sexual activity but’were
now getting on their nerves by
    unnecessarily demanding their
    attention.

  27. They made unsavoury jokes
    about how expectant women were
almost turning the labour ward into
. a funeral house with their constant
    expressions of pain.
    During this time, one woman
was lucky enough to be helped to
the bed by other expectant mothers
who still had enough strength. The
baby was ah;nost coming out by .
then and the midwife calmly asked
the woman to hand her a pair of
gloves in readiness to deliver the
    baby.
    The bag containing the gloves
was just next to the midwife but
she flatly refused to get them when
asked to and was about to walk out
saying she could not deliver the
baby in the absence of gloves.

    bag .
One of the other expectant mothers
    quickly stepped in and handed
    the midwife the gloves.
    After delivery, all the women
were asked to clean the beds they
had delivered on since they had
    created a ‘mess.’
, After cleaning the be’tls, one
could then proceed to dress her
baby in warmer clothes and resume
‘their position on the floor to await
    further instructions regarding the
    transfer to the postnatal ward.
    This transfer WllSat the midwives’
    discretion and one would
    wait for hours on end.

Not all midwives are bad but the

    Florence Nightingale was a pioneering

As mothers, all we ask for at our
time of need is for midwives to
adhere to the pillars that guide the
    nursing profession. ‘

  31. The people of this country deserve to know, because they are paying for it, the affliction that is sweating Satamashimba. We do not want our money wasted on people sick with incurable diseases brought by “imisango yakuiletelela” umwine! Besides, this is the chap who is spending sleepless nights insulting us and here we are footing his bill in Morningside, this is painful!

  32. When Jehovah destroys this unjust system of things that is under Satan’s control, He will usher in a glorious new world. It will be controlled by God’s heavenly Kingdom, for which Jesus taught his followers to pray. Wickedness and injustice will be replaced by righteousness and justice, for then the prayer will be answered in the fullest sense: “Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.”—Matthew 6:10.

  33. They deserve no better than the health facilities they have left here in Zambia.
I hope this trip to Morningside is their last.

  34. Let shikapwasha tell us how much the govt has spent on these evacuations from January todate. They cant even be ashamed to leave their own hospitals simply because of lack medicine and equipment.

  35. These chaps, they are all sick: Bwezani Kanitundila, Mulongoti, Tetamashimba, Shikapwasha, Red Lipped Kunda etc. This year ka, we are in for a series of state funerals and by elections!

  36. So what if they have recovered. There are 100s of 1000s of us who are very sick and cannot even afford a panadol and yet we pay to GRZ. These 2 chaps dont even pay tax. Personally am not interested at all whether they go from are stay on earth

  37. I wonder why you guys keep asking about teta’s illness, this guys is suffering from hivaids. The other thing I must tell you is that these bigie bwanas go to SA for medicals because they do not want everybody back home to know they all suffer from this infamous disease AIDS. kunda, mulongoti, teta, shikapwasha nabashaala abakashaana balwele bwakunya pwe!!

  38. Shaka whatever you are called – hope there wont be anybody to wish you ill when you die. You can hate the politician but he is also a person with a family and loved ones. You have to show compassion at times like these. If you are that callous regarding somebody’s illness then how much better are you in reality than the politicians you criticise all the time? Teta has his weaknesses but is has he committed genocide or eaten young children?

  39. Teta, people wishing you to be cargo, what a shame. What have you done to them to deserve this. When you come back do some soul searching and change your ways. even if you are a politician you dont deserve this. so please change and start thinking before you speak instead of speaking before you think.

  40. no wonder aba banyama cant even establish better health institutions pa zed, utaba panyumba pako ati pali njala. UKUTUMPA!!!
