Hearse fees to start at K30,000 in Luanshya

Luanshya Municipal Council has approved fees for hire of its two hearses ranging between K30, 000 to K180,000 depending on the distance.

This is according to the circular signed by town clerk Andrew Mwanakulanga and obtained by ZANIS in Luanshya today.

The fares from Thompsom Hospital mortuary to the old cemetery is K30,000 while those to Walale ,Fisenge and Mpatamatu is K50,000 and K80, 000, respectively.

The circular revealed that the hire of the hearse from Roan hospital to Mpatamatu, Town center, fisenge and walale cemeteries will be K30,000, K60,000, K100,000 and K80,000 respectively.

The fees for inter- town burials from Luanshya to Ndola, Kitwe and Masaiti is pegged at K150,000, K180,000 and K130,000 respectively.

The two hearses are meant for Luanshya and Roan constituencies. 100 hearses were recently given to all councils by the ministry of local government and housing where the acting minister of local government Bradford Machila told the receipents not to charge over K300,000.

  1. Teta akosa shani kanshi? He should be the one to ‘test’ these hearses, leading by example they say! Any word 4rm morningside?

  2. The fares from Thompsom Hospital mortuary to the old cemetery is K30,000 while those to Walale, Fisenge and Mpatamatu is K50,000 and K80, 000, respectively.

Now the council has started charged fares to dead bodies?

Olo is it chizungu ca ba LT, as usual?

  3. On second thought, its only about 4 to5$ equivalent…

but…to an ordinary bare-footed kaponya , that’s an incredible fee!!

  4. Ati teta was sneaked back into the country last night,he’s now in the ICU @ u know where. Without wishing him ill,in all fairness should the worst come to the worst, one of these manda manda’s should carry him. They should be seen to be fit for use for & by ALL zambians.

  5. Teta is much better now. Its only that he lost alot of body weight and thats why he is on GOGIES PRO pro Pulo PROTEINMENE you remember this? He also has yet to answer allegations of putting company money in personal account.

  6. #9 Its true the Minister in Charge of these Manda mandas is back and described as stable by Shikapwasha. You remember the meaning of ‘Stable’ in Zambian context. GRZ has realised that it is cheaper to use these mandamandas to ferry his remains to Solwezi Central. We are already discussing succession for this constituency as he did when the late LPM was at Percy Hospital in France.

  7. Who writes English at LT??….How can you write “fares” in reference to transportation of dead bodies ? Why not just say the “charges” ?

  8. Where will this money be going too? Because believe me those vehicles will wear out because of no maintence and no money to buy replacements because nobody was accounting for them or simply because the money was in-come and out-go. Please we still need those vehicles to burry all MMD cadres to the last one

  9. This sounds reasonable and there must be proper accountability form those charged with this responsibility. May other manucipalities follow this example.
