Opposition UPND President Hakainde Hichilema says the UPND-PF pact is here to stay.
Addressing hundreds of Senanga residents at Senanga Market yesterday, the opposition leader said people talking ill of the UPND- PF pact should not be taken seriously.

Mr. Hichilema said the pact was a people driven initiative which called upon the opposition to unite.
He alleged that in the current leaders, Zambia lacked visionary leadership that would propel the country towards economic development.

Mr. Hichilema accused President Banda of hating Mwanawasa and his legacy of fighting corruption.
He alleged that President Banda was an enemy to anybody within government and the MMD who was against corruption.

He urged Senanga residents to obtain National registration Cards so as to prepare for the Voter Registration exercise.

And Mr. Hichilema has described the late former Senanga Central UPND Member of Parliament Albert Situmbeko as a gallant man who was committed to serving the people of Zambia.
Speaking when he visited the widow of the former MP, Mr. Hichilema said the demise of Mr. Situmbeko was a great loss.

Mr. Situmbeko who died last month served as MP for Senanga Central from 2001 to 2006 before retiring from active politics.

  1. Every-one now wants to use Mwanawasa’ name…corruption is rife in zambia and we need political will from our politician to fight it. Levy did his best let others continue were he left. Let’s vote wisely in 2011.

  2. You are right HH, but I do not think it`s hate it`s just that one can not fight what he is. Chi Presidential Paging waliba dalo zoona!

  3. HH tell us your policies instead of just sloganeering. If Levy was so good then why did you spend the last couple of years opposing him? In addition, just because he has left us does not mean that he was clean. Howcome you have not been to Kasama to strengthen the pact?

  4. Typical African thinking! So what is the work of the opposition then? If HH agrees to all the nonsense then he is saying go on MMD. I have never seen an opposition that agrees or would agree with the government for two years. Never! I may be wrong though and I would love to be.

  5. VIva HH and the pact! Viva!!! Nice one man! I think some people have to learn what it means to have the opposition. But then again, MMD was never in opposition was it? Once they lose in 2011 that would be the end of them. What hates is we will see all these to Mulongoti joining the pact.

  6. Really no 5 you have issues….has Sata been any where else other than the north to strengthen the pact as you said….this is not time to look for faults, the idea of a pact is to share responsibility and insure that each party concentrates on their strongholds. You know UPND’s policies if you dont know them by now, then you must be illitrate, coz its everywhere you look. People its time we changed the face of Zambia, grow up abash tribal politics, we are tired of people like you…can we for once be positive!

  7. HH please forget about the LPM legacy. What ‘legacy’ is there to talk about ? The whole world knows that the guy was equally corrupt and a died-hard nepotist. I was reading somewhere where Mr MPOMBO was comlaining that RB was recalling most people that LPM sent to the foreign service. If you read LPM autobio by Amos Malupenga you will know that the man also recalled most people that were appointed by FTJ ! He was apppointing primary school teachers to ne under-secretaries at our missions. Jelita and Mulenga sure ?. As much as LPM brought about some fiscal sanity, the man was also corrupt. Look at the ZNOC scandal, up to now noone can explain Maureen’s sudden wealth. These are the same creatures and there is no need to claim a ‘legacy’ here. Kapala alifwa chalipwa lets move on.Viva…

  8. Of course RB hates Mwanawasa for anti-corruption measures the late President took. RB celebrates and dines with Titus Mpundu. What is most worrisome is the fact that KK supports RB. KK who supported the coming togethr of UPND and PF seems to have shifted camp because a UNIP President RB has been born by default. RB can never and will never be MMD because he does not even understand why MMD was formed.

  9. There is no legacy to talk about.Levy’s preidency was born out of corruption. The fight against Chiluba was just a smoke screen, all along tthe MMD knew what they were doing.Any ***** would have looked good as the copper boom just happened to come when this corrupt sick man became president.Fighting corruption should have have been in the civil service e.g. the corrupt police, judiciary, passport office, councils, ministry of lands.Chiluba is accused of stealing not giving or recieving a bribe, big difference!!!

  10. Hello mudala Hichilema …bauze man. Viva pact . Let us work towards good gonvernace in our country. Abash RB and the MMD-thieves.

  11. Kapoko stole during Levy’s time. If Levy had really been serious about corruption, Kafupi would have been locked up a long time ago. HH needs to choose his words very carefully and concentrate on real issues affecting our people and want he plans are for the country. Such talk wont take him anywhere.

  12. #16 I salute you. I sincerely hope we are going to begin getting more and more Zambians realising Levy was not in any way fighting corruption. He was involved in something other than that. If HH does not move cautiously, he may send himself into early oblivion. It is not just the Kapoko issue there is plenty other dirt that Banda is sitting on. To characterise Levy’s regime as crusaders against corruption is a missappropriation of credit. The danger is that we have allowed the serious issues of our country to be championed by wrong guys like Mmembe and other like minded human beings whose motives in all this is selfish personal reasons. The SC failed lamentably at constitutional reform despite being a lawyer. None of these lawyers at the time thought radical steps to combat the…

  13. HH needs to let Zambians know more about him . What makes him different from the other leadership styles. If I were in his position I would write a biography or book like Obama or Dambisa since he is young and relatively new on the scene. Find a slogan which suits his mission for the public…give us a clue what his belief system etc What charity work has he contributed to Zambia? How will he unite the Zambian people and plan to make them prosperous. He is from the bootstraps and needs to market his strengths through interviews by promoting his biography all over Zambia. Basically what I am saying all potential Zambian presidential candidates including RB need to give more information about their plans for Zambia.

  14. Rbanda is too busy travelling to notice Chiluba like a fox is tying his toxic 8 year rule to him. RBanda administration is unwisely using their PR to fight Chiluba’s man made issues instead of building RB legacy. Rule 1 never let an ex president hi jack your time to prove what kind of leader you are. Chiluba has alot of presence therefore RB has to be careful people think they elected Chiluba instead of him. Rule 2 what is RB reign about? KK built Zambia education, hospitals etc Mwanwasa chose fighting corruption. Build on that but also find your own niche…e.g. being a farmer revolutionise farming in Zambia. Rule 3 consider your age you are 72. Live for the momment do not focus too much on 2011 elections. A 20 year old might win the election 🙂

  15. Ever since HH joined the pact, he has lost direction. He no longer articulates policies but sings the praise of the dead. As some have put it if Levy was a damn good Presedo why did HH oppose and stand against him? RB is not good but HH will be worse! This ka chap bores me to the bone! Tell us about how Chiluba’s privitatsation filled your pockets HH.

  16. # 9 Supergal, cant agree with you more, honestly if you still want to hear policies now then you are damn illiterate.I wonder if youn have ever voted in any election. In this dat & time people are still gnashing their teeth over privatisation eish…….what a nation

  17. My sincere condolences to the family of Hon A Situmbeko. Many of us still think that UPND has strongholds other than S/Province. The party died at its convention. It calls for a strong leader to bring it to life. A couple of years ago the Post raised a question which to date is not answered. How the UPND leader acquired the house he resides and how he benefited from privatization. The corruption fight may only spare a few

  18. Why does this man caimpain vigorously only southern, western and north western? it that he is a tribalist?
