FPP petitions British High Commission

Share

Five small opposition political parties yesterday presented a petition to the British High Commission in Zambia complaining about alleged interference in the country’s internal affairs.

The five parties, none of whom have representation in the Zambian Parliament petitioned the British High Commissioner to Zambia, Tom Carter for his sentiments that he is shocked and disappointed with the acquittal of former Republican President Frederick Chiluba.

The group calling themselves Forum for Political Parties(FPP) were not allowed inside the premises of the High Commission and ended up leaving the petition document with security manager Tim Parkinson.

“We have noted with sadness that the former colonial masters seem to be bent on promoting anarchy and acrimony through the wrong channels of diplomatic communication which include so called non-governmental organisations (NGOs),” read the petition.

FPP chairperson Edwin Sakala said after presenting the petition that the British government should respond within one week.

“They have to give us a feedback in a week’s time. We are giving them a week and if they do not respond we shall come and camp here,” Mr Sakala said.

Zambians have only one country and if there was anarchy in the country, diplomats would just pack their bags, close their missions and go,” he said.

Mr Sakala also demanded a break-down of how the British tax-payers’ money has been disbursed to the Task Force on Corruption.

Members that presented the petition were from the National Democratic Party (NDP), Party for Unity, Democracy and Development (PUDD), New Generation Party (NGP) and the Zambia Development Conference (ZADECO).

  1. The Zambian community is agreived by the way this corrupt govt is runing the affairs of our nation, even the FPP is a corruption baby of this govt, if we don not complain these crooks will go scortfree we know that this govt is up to nothing for zambians no vision at all

  2. These tutemba parties should be arrested for disturbing the peace, aren’t they are threatening to camp outside the High commission. How can govt allow these failures to go speak on its behalf to foreign dignitaries. Honestly yesterday several villages were missing their i.d..iots.

  3. Who do these parties represent? Invite them into the embassy for tea and buscuits and they will soon forget what they have been paid by MMD to do. If they are proper political parties surely they must have other ways of expressing themselves other than camping??? Perhaps their shadow foreign minister should arrange to meet the British high commissioner ( and communicate in what language??) Nothing like Zambian politics when you are a little tired at work and you need some comedy to entertain you.

  4. If it were other people not connected RB who did this, they would in prison this time. Is this what RB an VJ call proper channel of communication?? Shame on u RB.

  5. #9 you are damn right these are charecters that can sell themselves for the littlest material benefits. For them political prostitution is an artform they have mastered perfectly for their survival.
Now here are the double standards this lackeys have been allowed to air the protest without all the concerns about peace and anarchy being raised. Those who tried to protest on Fri. are still in jail.
If this has been allowed, allow people to honk on Fri.

  6. They’ve been bought by RB FTJ consortium. Silly little minions muppets dancing and shouting as their foolish masters pull their strings. Some people really have no pride left.

  7. These failures never cease to tekunya me. Guys , have you seen?? When we were studying hard you were bamojos. Now you have turned into brainless embeciles who sell themselves for a cup of tea. Mukose guys , you will never have jobs since you have no papers . hahahahahahahahah.

  8. No. 4 Bwalya – spot on. Given the current environment of plots and counter plots how on earth were they allowed to gather in diplomatic square without being arrested for terrorism. and the village thing….LOL!!

  9. Rupiahs puppets.I remember a period like this under hefty jay, when we were at loggerheads with the donor community. Is it a coincidence that once again he’s the central character in all this? Its not that these people are meddling…they are just concerned at the rate at which basic freedoms are being taken away + the kafupi issue.Imagine if it had been a group that had gone to the high commission to side with Mr. carter, they would have been crushed with the newly acquired riot gear! 2011 isa bwangu

  10. Dean Mung’omba must be turning in his grave. MAP – Masipa A Poho = BS. MAP, that’s what it is. Yah, who are they? Terrorists, that’s who. Arrest these quacks! Give me their names and I’ll make a citizen’s arrest. MAP briefcase parties!!

  11. I like their HOAX-after being given a bribe they go and protest. By th way who are they representing because surely they are not representing the people of Zambia. they have no represntative in parliament. O i get it they are possibly representing their spouses and possibly their children who are even against there idea of going to the embassy. Bunch of Jokers. Anyway freedom of expression even when its senseless.

  12. # 5 Yes, Nkosi, we concur. Everybody, including these fools, has the right to demonstarte. But how about the other “fools’ who wanted to protest peacefully against Chiluba’s case? Are they not “foolish’ enough to belong to a democracy? Why deny them a permit?

  13. I’ve just read in “The Post” about Katele Kalumba dissolving the Western province MMD executive because they’re refusing to endorse a UNIPist “wamuyaya’ doctrine – “one man, one vote, that vote for Rupiah.” Tell me, I live far from Zambia. Is this the Katele who had a laptop and a horn radar in some Luapula bush? Come on, Katele, this is the 21st Cenntury. Time for witchcraft politics is over. Quit or risk facing the people in the near future. Not even your wizardry will save you from our wrath. Leave simasiku alone. He’s a democrat. The convention must go on, or else the MMD will have no presidential candidate in the next elections.

  14. Who told LT that those to Ntemba groups were political parties. Do they have any represantaion in Paliament anyway?

  15. I am deeply concerned as to how these useless, non-existant, illiterate political parties are carrying themselves out in this matter! they are laying irrelevant accussations at the british high commissioner about a statement which we as zambians all believe is true. i stand behind the british high commissioner. after all, we’re a so called “independent” country so with independence comes freedom of speech. or does it not? so to the useless, unknown political party leaders, please, go home, draw up a CV and find a job or something better to do with your time. because politics isn’t meant for uneducated people like you.
