A 27 year old pregnant woman of Chanyanya area in Kafue District has been admitted to Kafue District Hospital after she was hit by a stray buffalo in Magoba near Kafue sugar plantation.
And in a separate incident another man is struggling for his life at the same hospital after a crocodile bit his right leg near the rail bridge on the Kafue River as he was trying to cut some reeds.
Kafue District Commissioner Winford Ngoma who rushed to the hospital confirmed the incident which happened yesterday.
Mr. Ngoma told ZANIS that the expectant mother had gone to fetch fire wood in a near by bush with her husband when she met three buffaloes. He said one of the buffaloes hit her with its horns lifting her up then dropped her to the ground living her unconscious.
He said two of the buffaloes ran away and it took the husband’s courage who struggled with the remaining animal to chase it off as it tried to hit her again.
Mr. Ngoma said the buffaloes are believed to have strayed from the Kafue National park and have been terrorizing villagers in the area for the past two weeks. He said villagers are now living in fear and are unable to carry out their day to day activities for fear of being attacked.
The District Commissioner has appealed to the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) to crop down the animals before any life is lost.

Let these animals be killed. We have plenty of them in the parks and there is no reason human being should be terrorised by buffaloes. Kill them immediately
Kashimani, killing animals to protect humans is not the best solution. Humans ought to recognize that animals also require living space and keep a good distance from them.

God blessed us with wonderful terrifying creatures. They are attacking the wrong folks though lying politicians is whose butts they should bite. As for the crocs I need a business so as my future wife’s shoe and bag needs are met hahahahaha. Imagine the number of people that have been attacked in our history, only difference now is that multimedia gets the word out.

Am a bit confused by this story, first of all did the man send his pregnant wife to fetch the firewood or did they go together? secondly did he actually tassol with the buffalo or did he just scare it away somehow? if its the former then I take my hat off to him, Zambia’s own Buffalo Dundee!
